AkinDS: I would not advocate the sacking of Randy Waldrop so we don't end up with Genet Four saga again The positive from Randy is that he can set his team to play a very strong defensive style This was evident when we take on Cameroon, they laboured to no avail yet they couldn't find an equalizer Also against Morocco with 2 man down the defense was more solid like ASO Rock.... They only won on the luxury of penalty. But where we need to walk on the team is the attack Their finishing is very poor. If we had converted half the chance maybe the music will be different Look at Rivers united they had a coach Eguma that score less goals but defense very well They added a coach that worked on their attack and the goal were coming like wotowoto home and away and the won the league Let's add to the coaching crew. And get proven strikers like oparanozie and hopefully Oshoala should be back |

Short Passes gives us better Scoring opportunities, instead of Long balls that would leave the Likes of Onumonu, Oshoala, Oparanozie chasing and getting tired, Play Simple and short Passes that will get our opponents out of position. It's always difficult to play against a team that knows how to keep the ball and make the right passes, We have the Players to execute it and probably do the high press. We need to work on it for the World Cup, As for me I don't believe in Randy Waldrum anymore. Long balls method has done no good to us but they keep playing that way. I'm very certain is the Coaches instructions to play long balls more.. we know how to build from the back, we just need refining... If Randy Waldrum Continues as Coach, it's for him and his Coaching crew to analyze our performance at the WAFCON and get rid of this Long ball approach... I had to take my time to re watch their matches at the just concluded WAFCON.. Few things I will point out first is for Randy Waldrum to settle the Defense position... Bring in Patricia George who's very quick, strong, skillful and a beautiful full back to the Left as she's uses both feets effectively Since Randy prefers Nicole Payne more at Left Back... Let the Competition for Left Back spot be between Patty and Nicole.. At Center Back Onome Ebi should be seated out on the Bench... She's already 39yrs, she can offer the needed experience from the Bench since we already have Ashleigh Plumptre who's a better ball playing center Back and can carry the ball very well from the back.. Ohale 30yrs will definitely get better with Ashleigh at the Back playing together.. Get two Younger CBs to understudy Ohale and Ashleigh ( Zogg, A Ogbonna, Demehin) Randy hasn't find a Natural Right Back yet, Why not make that spot a tough competition between Alozie and Tony Payne.. let their two fight that spot since he doesn't want to move either of them to the Attack and Midfield.. Leave out Glory Ogbonna from the team as she hasn't done anything yet to keep inviting her.. 2 Likes

We need to play more of Shot Passes, In quick pace and high pressing as we have the energy to do so .... In the Midfield we already have Younger and hungry Players like Christy Ucheibe, Peace Efih and co... Rita Chikwelu have no business in that Midfield again she should retire.. But if Randy want to Continue keeping her which i know too well that he would do, she should remain on the Bench or better still come in at exactly 90+ to add to her Caps only when necessary not even in tough games.. Blend the Ayinde- Ucheibe -Okobi trio together and work on their positioning, ball exchange and retention not those overdosed long balls... Let Otu and Efih be their substitute, bring in Attacking Midfielder like Chinaza Uchendu who's already at her best though she's currently playing for one of the biggest Club in South Korea... Look into the Current U20 set up for more options.. 1 Like |

Our Attack, Rasheedat doesn't have any business in that Midfield again except if we find ourselves in a situation that would need her there..... Ajibade can be our Megan Rapineo who's known for her playmaking, Assist and Scoring. Desire Oparanozie Asisat Oshoala Ifeoma Onumonu Rasheedat Ajibade Esther Okoronkwo Uchenna Kanu Fransisca Ordega The rest below should be the next option if any of the above name ain't available Monday Gift Vivian Ikechukwu Chinwendu Ihezuo Roosa Ariyo Maclean's Chinonyerem Anam Imo The current U20 strikers should be given some look... Rinsola Babajide still look like someone who isn't certain about her international Career yet... As she's currently with the England U23 set up. Eyes on Vicky Lopez 1 Like |

robosky02:firstly, Randy should be gone like yesterday, secondly, randy should be gone like yesterday, thirdly, randy should be gone like yesterday. You talked about adding to the coaching crew, if you like add 10 more people to the coaching crew, it is the head coach that will still instruct the changes, so if he does not like you or does not believe in the assistant, you will still get the same result. Secondly after 2 years, what else do you think he can offer, to me nothing. If we struggle this bad in the final 3rd against African teams, just know that we will struggle 3 times more with the north American and european teams.Randy can not read a match in real time, and you want him to retain the job as head coach of the most successfull team in Africa, we hired a fitness trainer for Head coach, nonsense. Like i said the other day, the people in NFF are on cheap drugs for them not to have sacked him by now, because randy is taking us nowhere, on the contrary our team is regressing. How do you have a coach who plays people because he just likes them, because that the only reason that can justify why Rita starting over uchibe, if not for the noise from Nigerians, Ucheibe might not have played a match. Randy should getat like yesterday, period. 3 Likes |

Schemerkhiz: Really looking forward to see what Rosa will do this season. She's got a more stable club in Belgium and hopefully she'll deliver. As for Rinsiola, I used to be one of her biggest advocates, but right now I really do not want her to play for us again. She isn't "confused" about her international career, she wants to play for England and I believe that decision should be respected. I'll understand if this was a case of a 18-21 year old weighing decisions, but she's 24 already. If she decides much later to switch nationality, she'll be 29 before she has another opportunity to feature in a world cup for Nigeria. That's 5 years to get someone as good if not better than her. Nigeria is obviously a backup plan, she isn't that exceptional for us to accommodate that. I'll rather want us to pursue Vicky. Immediately the u-17 world cup, we should seriously make plans to ensure she becomes a part of the fold, if she's seriously considering switching. |

Nigerians are an interesting lot. On Vicki... You need to realize the Spanish FA will NEVER give up on a precocious talent like Vicky, and will do EVERTHING and ANYTHING to make sure she plays for Spain. Don't waste your time - Nigeria is not a serious enough country and does not offer her anything. The opportunity to get her has passed. Sorry. The focus should be on Onyenezide as the next playmaker. She has all the ingredients and lets hope she is able to showcase that at the U20 WWC. On Rinsola... Rinsola turned 24 this past June so she is out of the U23 set up. She is also not a part of the England Lionesses. Not sure where yall are getting your intel from, but she has yet to be approached by our FA and is not opposed to playing for Nigeria. On getting a more productive team... Solution is crystal clear - get rid of the Fabulous Four (Onome, Okobi, Chikwelu and GodMother Oparanozie). They are (and will continue to be) the root cause of the current problems in the Super Falcons. I would never understand why Nigerians are so fixated on old players way past their prime and usefulness to the team, both on and off the field, but would be scared of wanting to move forward with younger players who are more than capable and have a brighter future ahead of them. It seems to be in our DNA that we always feel comfortable with everything Old - Players, Politicians, everything! That is why the country is (and will continue to be) stuck in the past. lovewins: |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 3:30pm On Jul 28, 2022 |
AkinDS: Of course the Spanish FA would do anything to keep Vicky, the difference though is Vicky's desire to play for the Falcon's as a way to honour her mother. So we have a peculiar case here we can leverage on, and if the report about her interest is true, then we have a very good chance. Like you rightly noted, Rinsiola is 24, she doesn't need to wait for the FA to approach her, she needs to make the first step. I can't speak to her intension as they are innate, but I've followed her for sometime now and I'm what I can glean is she really wants to play for England. Getting into the Nigerian team wouldn't be difficult for her quite frankly he she wants to. She can leverage on relationship she has with persons like Oshoala to start the process of getting into the team. If she's waiting for be approached by the NFF then she'll wait long, she isn't an "exceptional talent" that we'll break our heads over. On the way forward for the team, any solution that doesn't include Randy going isn't holistic. I know you like to cut him some slack but he won't get that with me. Randy will play at least 2 of those fantastic 4 regularly in his team if given the chance. You can't in one wise claim the players are a big problem while at the same time absolve the coach who doesn't just invite them, but plays them at will. |

The NFF is yet to act, which suggests the body has decided to keep Waldrum. It will cost the NFF to sack Waldrum as he just signed a new two-year contract this year. Sacking him now means the Nigerian football governing body will have to pay his salary for the two-year contract he signed. And with the NFF struggling financially, Waldrum will likely continue in his job. Also, with the FIFA Women's World Cup taking place next year, the NFF may feel there is no need to bring in a new manager. Amaju just da rubbish Nigeria football, why give him another 2years contract two years ago when WAFCON was in the corner, his performance at the WAFCON would have determine him getting another Contract… Nigeria football in Mess… 1 Like

WAFCON: Mercy Akide-Udoh admits Super Falcons have lost unbeatable status Following a 4th place finish at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations -WAFCON in Morroco , Legendary Super Falcons striker Mercy Akide-Udoh has admitted the Nigerian ladies no longer look unbeatable in the eyes of other African countries. Akide , a winner of three African Women’s cup of Nations titles believes this is down to the growth of women’s football in Africa which has reached a level that ” Everyone now believes they can beat Nigeria .” At the 2022 WAFCON, Nine time Champions Nigeria were defeated On penalties by hosts Morroco in the Semi Final before falling to a 1-0 third place match loss to Zambia . ” The Competition is growing and other countries are catching up. Everybody now believes they can beat Nigeria , ” Akide stated via BBC Sport Africa. Just seeing Morroco with what they have done and the investment they’ve made, i think women’s football and a lot of countries will learn from it , ” Akide continued. ” When I see those countries that are investing , if you give it four or five years, it is going to be amazing , i am so grateful that i am still alive to see what CAF is doing for women’s football . ” ” The quality from my time to now is getting better. South Africa have come so far and I give kudos to my friend Desiree (Ellis) for what she has done for that team . Looking at the Morroco team the coach ( Reynald Pedros ) has done an amazing job. ” Mercy Akide concluded. 46 year old Akide was a part of the Super Falcons team that won the African Women’s Championship titles in 1998, 2000 and 2022 . Married to veteran Journalist Collins Udoh, Mercy Akide-Udoh also represented Nigeria at three FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments. Despite a difficult tournament in Morroco , Nigeria’s Super Falcons did enough to secure a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket courtesy of a 1-0 Quater final win over Cameroon. Nigerian’s have been critical of the performance of the Super Falcons under Randy Waldrum with a section calling for his replacement with one of the former Super Falcon players with Akide’s teammate Florence Omagbemi top of the list of suggestions . |

Waldrum need to stop play plumptre at left back just to accommodate Ebi at center back , Ebi is can't even pass the ball properly anytime she pass the ball it's always bouncing , plumptre is good ball carrier from the back and that's very vital to the way we want the falcons to play 3 Likes |
