Onome Ebi: Levante Las Palnas and Nigeria captain part ways by mutual consent

Spanish side, Levante Las Planas have terminated the contract of Nigeria international, Onome Ebi who joined them in the summer as a free agent, NigeriaFootball.ng can exclusively report.

The Nigerian defender has been struggling for form since arriving, hence the club opted to let her go along with couple of players declared surplus to requirements in December 2022, sources informed NigeriaFootball.ng.

The Super Falcons captain signed for the topflight newcomers in September 2022 on a one-year deal at the age of 39 as she joined compatriot Rita Chikwelu at the club but unfortunately things did not go according plans.

During her short spell, Ebi endured a forgettable campaign as she only featured once for Levante Las Planas, with her only outing being a six-minute stint as a substitute against Asisat Oshoala’s Barcelona on November 3, 2022.

Before joining the Spanish club in September 2022, the centre-back had been clubless for almost 12 months since ending her third stint with Belarusian giants Minsk, after 19 appearances in November 2021.

Levante Las Planas was the 10th club for the veteran defender, who turns 40 in May following her stints in Sweden (Pitea IF and Djurgardens IF), Turkey (Atasehir Belediyespor FC, Duvenciler Lisesispor and Atasehir Belediyespor) and Belarus where her first stint with Minsk was between 2014 and 2016.

Despite the setback, the four-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winner will be resolve to make Nigeria’s party for the 2023 Women’s World Cup for an African record-extending sixth appearance in Austrailia/New Zealand in July.

Earlier, she missed the Super Falcons’ trips to United States’ Summer Series in September and friendly against Japan in October 2022 due to an injury picked from the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Ahead of February’s camp in the North America, Ebi will hope to make a positive return to Randy Waldrum’s folds.

“We are very excited for the invitation to the @RevCupMexico. As an American, I know Mexico & Costa Rica very well, and Colombia is also a big rival. It is an honor to play these matches.” - Randy Waldrum

Colombia 🇨🇴 ranked 27th in the World

Mexico 🇲🇽 ranked 35th

Costa Rica 🇨🇷 ranked 37th

NIGERIA 🇳🇬 ranked 45th

Nigeria should get this tournament in the bag cause on paper with the caliber of players we have, Mexico and Colombia are on the balance side with Costa Rica happening to be the weakest team..

Nigeria, Colombia and Costa Rica are qualified for this year World Cup and Mexico did not

Nice one.
That's 6 matches for Randy to work with his team. No excuses this time. Hopefully, there won't be logistics issue.

Oshoala now has 10 league goals this season. She's still 5 goals behind the league's top scorer.

Happy for her.

She however needs to work on her 1v1 chances. Some of those misses leaves a sore taste.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 7:57pm On Jan 25, 2023
Yessss 3 goals for Oshoala but I must say she really need to Work on her 1 V1 in front of goal… She can’t be missing all that na, If she gets five 1v1 chance in a single game she may likely score just 1 or 2 which is bad, she needs to at least score 3 of such chances..

Now, this is a tournament against teams we can actually beat...
I hope Randy will have all the players he need available to him....
This is an opportunity to get the squad in shape...

They really need to be in Mexico at least 3 days before the first game.. By the way Randy always struggles with first game and might eventually lose this one again…

Uchenna Kanu, Ifeoma Onumonu, Michelle Alozie, Nicole Payne, Onyi Echegini are just a boarder from Mexico… at least 5 players first.

There's enough time for the NFF to prepare for it... This could be the tournament somebody said the NFF already made arrangements for..
I just want all the players should be available...That will ensure that nobody cook up some funny excuses for Randy if it doesn't go well... All the teams in the tournament are very beatable...It's our poor form that made us drop in the FIFA ranking like that
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 8:12pm On Jan 25, 2023
Ajibade starts…

I think the Coach isn’t making good use of the players available for him, Ajibade tends to struggle in the no.9 and performs best from the flank especially as a Right Winger, she doesn’t have the frame of a number and hardly get it right in that position.. the Coach better change formation… 4-3-3 would be better.

Ajibade performs better from the LWF/RWF and Attacking midfield and Central midfield

The problem again is all our Spain 🇪🇸 based players have games 11/12 of February, and some of the games comes up in the evening of 12th like Sevilla vs Real Sociedad. there’s no way they won’t be jet legged considering the distance they would be traveling..

This means
Asisat Oshoala
Rasheedat Ajibade
Osinachi Ohale
Tony Payne
Monday Gift
Rita Chikwelu
Chiamaka Nnadozie
Blessing Demehin
Regina Otu and Co

Most of the players especially those going from (Spain, France, England) might get to Mexico 🇲🇽 late evening of 13th/early morning of 14th..

So their training might just be once or Twice before the first game against Mexico.. And 98% of Mexico players are based in Mexico..

🚨 | It may interest you to know that Asisat Oshoala with her first hat-trick of 2023 against Levante is now the 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐇 top scorer in Barcelona Femeni history with 95 goals.

The victory saw Barca create a record of the first team in football to ever win 50 consecutive league matches.

Is there a second leg for the tournament as there is no more way each team would play 6 games between Feb 15 and Feb 22nd. Right below the sentence you made bold.

Maybe 3 matches per day with a day rest in-between matchdays.

Just 3 games with the team with the highest points to be crown the winner…

So Nigeria is playing 3 games in Mexico this February, again can Nigeria beat this 3 teams especially Mexico with Randy good at losing first game and Players arrival to Camp late another problem…

Some of this players have League games on the 12th and their first game on the 15th… Coming from France, Spain and the rest is going to be difficult for them…

Of course I know it's three games, the double header language is misleading. No way a national team would play 6 games within that short time frame.

Head Coach Randy Waldrum has called up 23 players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons for next month’s Revelation Cup Tournament to be staged in Leon, Mexico City, among them Captain Onome Ebi, Spain-based forward Asisat Oshoala and long-time number one goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
