No one denies this hadith usually quoted on juma'ah. But if you think everything is bida base on this hadith, then, ALL Muslims are in bida one way or the other.

That means you take the above hadith literally just like "73 sects". Obviously if we count all sects carefully, they are more than 73. Every now and then, there have been sects coming up. Anytime someone wants to write about 73 sects, before they finish the book, another sect emerges which proves the hadith is not talking literally.

emm, just a correction, 73 sects does not mean every single group that emerges, no, before it can be regarded a sect, it's ideologies would be known and followed by people world wide, just as how when the prophet said 30 false Prophets will emerge before yawmul qiyaamah, obviously in lagos alone we've seen more than 30, so is the hadeeth to be taken metaphorically too? no, what is meant is, these false prophets would influence and have large numbers of followers throughout the world.

on this note, 73 sects is taken literally, if its not literal, then why mention "73" specifically?
