while I do not support the banning of services like whatsapp facebook etc I believe the govt should tax them for operating in Nigeria. These companes make money out out you and I and contribute nothing to our economy. We should charge them for the priviledge of accessing our vast populaion in this time where govt is looking to diversify iot's revenue base. As for MTN and co they should wake up and smell the cofee, the telecom industry has evolved all over the world, telecoms is no longer about voice but data. |

Its a valid business position ... Really ! |

Well, WhatsApp was banned on Brazil exactly this time last year. It's actually kind of funny, I must say. But Zuckerberg being Zuckerberg, he was able to make them remove the ban. |

Polyphony:He's indeed saying nonesense. It's like NIPOST asking to ban people from sending emails because emails replaced sending letters. MTN should first return South Africa to stone age before thinking of that thrash in Nigeria. |

Useless bunch of hypocrites, how many Nigerians has lost means of livelihood due to their contracting every available job out of the country. Imagine monitoring Nigeria MTN cell sites from India or so, how much are the Indians contributing to their mega profit in Nigeria. Should the polytheificians support the ban, well boycott MTN services. |

The Horse and Buggy Owners Association also wanted to get cars banned. Perhaps The Post Office should also hustle to get you guys banned. After all you too are bad for their business. 1 Like |

Might not benefit by paying taxes, but the business it facilitates, and the ease of communication, cheap and clear makes it very valuable for Nigerians and our economy,in the broader perspective. MTN should deal with the reality, and stop sounding greedy. |

wristbangle:Point of correction. It was N50 per minute billing, not N5 or N10. SMS was N15 then. It was a per minute billing, meaning you will pay an extra N50 even if you spend 1 second beyond a minute. |
