Senator Democrats are attempting to pass legislation which will give President Obama the authority to shut down the Internet and seize private networks. On CNET News, Lee Tien, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), stated "As soon as you're saying that the federal government is going to be exercising this kind of power over private networks, it's going to be a really big issue." The bill, misleadingly titled "The Cybersecurity Act of 2009'', allows Obama to declare an emergency based upon no hard criteria. Once he declares this emergency, he can effectively shut down free speech on the Internet. Jay Rockefeller, the bill's sponsor, said "I know the threats we face. Our enemies are real. They are sophisticated, they are determined and they will not rest." Unfortunately, it looks like the threat which Jay is most worried about is free speech from Americans who do not approve of Obama's plans to impose national socialism upon the citizens of the United States. EDIT: IT SEEMS THE STORY IS NOT TRUE ACCORDING TO COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD, NEVERTHELESS THE FACT IS THAT SOONER OF LATER ITS BOUND TO HAPPEN FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS. 1. the internet is the only source that you are guaranteed being able to get access to uncensored information. 2. a lot cults and secret societies involved in control the world and the united states have been exposed through the internet. 3. i believe something thats bad for the normal person in the world is about to happen that they are trying to prevent flow of information to the general populace. 4. I hope all the Obama fanatics now see that a non-smiling person is better than one that looks innocent. 5. Control of the people is not possible when there is free flow of information. 6. The internet creates a big problem for governments and groups of people that are trying to control the world. What i would advise people is that make sure you download and burn to cd or dvd all the information that you think is valuable, cus what you are seeing is basically the beginning of the control of information by the New World Order using Obama as a proxy. Obama and the people behind him do not really have to control the actually information accessed by each user, all they have to do is make sure they bully the networks that are hosting the traffic for those information. Before you know whats happening, poof . . . all the uncensored information sources start going offline one by one . . .without people even knowing it. EDIT: The involvment of this man named: Jay Rockefeller makes me reconsider that although this topic itself might not be true . . . nevertheless its highly possible there is an element of truth to the concept of the story. No2Atheism:What does European Elite have to do with the US Govt shutting down the internet? USA created traffic lights, they dont have the right to shut it down just because of a few accidents. I'm not sure of how UK's Govt runs, but Obama does not have the power to shut down the net, suspending freedom of speech is impossible. LOLOL. . . . @Gators Fortunately, computer internetworks is one hubby of mine . . . and I have a little bit of work experience within that area hence i would try to explain to you how it is possible. Okay let me do a little break of information for you . . . This is how it works: 1. Think of the internet as a series of interconnected pipes . . . there are different sizes of pipes based on the amount of traffic being carried. 2. The Internet Backbone basically refers to places having the largest amounts of pipe size or diameter. 3. Hence to shutdown most of the internet . . .all you have to do is shut down the main pipes . . . 4. Yes there would still be some smaller interconnected pipes, nevertheless that is in consequential since for now, most of the traffic is centered around USA. 5. People of European descent are very legalistic meaning that they still try to respect things like patent and so on . . . hence in terms of legalistic processes, the US has a lot of say on the internet since they started it in the first place. 6. Yes countries like China and Japan and Russia might not want to play along . . . nevertheless those are just part of the internet . . . from my understanding, most of the internet traffic is centered around the USA . . . hence if the USA decides to censor their end . . . global internet traffic[b] would drastically[/b] drop. 7. So from the technical point of view, its very very possible and easy for the USA to more or less censor and strangle the internet. THE NEXT QUESTION THEN BECOMES . . . IS IT THEIR POLITICAL WILL TO DO IT. The political angle is where the issue of the Rockerfeller Family then comes in . . . -------------------------------------------- To answer you question of how European Elites factor into the equation . . . 1. By European Elite in this context . . . I mean American Elite that are technically of European descent . . . 2.
