You can only plead 'extenuating circumstance' when the Crime is not "Pre-planned", that is, spontaneous. Even at that, it is just a "leniency option", not an acquittal

This lady's crime was "planned and executed" and is called a Crime of Passion (Arson). = Min 10yrs in prison

The circumstance surrounding the incidence is provocation. This is a strong emotional provocation that many women will act upon.
