According to a friend of mine, people are primary cause of floods in Nigeria, not the government. I agree with him.

According to twitter user GidiTraffic, this disgusting and unbelievable sight is Akobi Crescent, Surulere, Lagos.

Lagos is a no man's land

Oba Akiolu, you talked about Lagoon ?? Now, enjoy the Lagoon

You let strangers buy all your lands and properties,
developed it and gave you life, but you still find it hard to maintain and keep it clean ?? Laziness

Dysfunctional MAGA city

On the one hand you can blame the residents for poor sanitary habits, on the other hand what was the government looking at when the residents were putting the rubish in the drains?

This is what governments exist for. To lead the people to higher levels of existence.

Do you know that an inefficient refuse system makes money FOR some people? It also provides an excuse to PRIVATISE and charge EXORBITANT rates for a service that should almost be free of charge (Local Governements are mandated by the constitution to handle waste disposal)

Its really nice seeing their hand work, at-least they wont blame the government for the flood. This people will prefer to dump refuse in the gutter instead of paying PSP little money to dispose the refuse.... Next time they will do the needful

Is it the government that will force them to use PSP We need to spit the truth sometimes.. this picture up there got nothing to do with the government cuz no matter how big the gutter is this dirts won't allow free flow of water and am pretty sure that's why the dirts are floating cuz the gutters are already blocked.

this year flood should be am eye opener to both government and people... people to manage there waste well and don't just fill up drainage with waste..Community should widen and channel their drainage system well. and the government should also take environmental policy seriously.... Climate change is real,,,, Global warming is real.............

Let's wake up and let the lives and properties lost be our motivation to fight the menace of flood in Nigeria....

Yea people greatly contributes to the mess but again the government in Lagos is not helping matter at all, they contribute greatly to it.

They collect LAWMA bill every month but yet sometimes you can stay weeks/months without seeing the Lawma vehicles. So what do we expect people to do with the refuse. Funny enough the same government has it in law that it is an offence to patronise truck pushers.

Talking of the plastic bottles and nylons which happen to be the number one nuisance, 80% of them (content) is taken in transit. How many places in lagos can you find public trash can/bin? I can't recall how many times (when in transit) i carry bottles about looking for a place to trash it (so annoying). If they are bins around at least few people will use them and it will be easier to convince others to do so.
I can point out more but let me stop here.

Despite the government's fault Lagosians please keep your environment neat.
