The south east economic team should include the following in their shopping list for the next government.

1 . concessions of the onitsha port
2. The construction of the Aba sea port
3. The construction of the Aba mega mall
4. Construction of big foundry in Aba and Onitsha for steel and non steel and rehabilitation of Aba steel complex to roll out flat sheet metals
5. Large scale diary farm hosting about 10000 milk cows and churning out about 150000 litres of milk daily for the eastern market
6. Rapid urbanization of Enugu and owerri
7. Linking the east with broadband Internet and connection to the international gateway via t transatlantic cable in the biafran bight
I did not want to comment on this thread before I saw ur post. This is the best post I have seen so far from someone that have his people in mind.

Sorry to say this, but we do not have leaders in the east. Right from when the colonial masters were around, leaders in every region (east, west & north) try to see what they can get for their people.

I am sure that even APC knowns that south east nigeria is for GEJ,but what can we boost of from following GEJ. Pls I don't want somebody to come and tell me ENUGU Airport or 2nd Niger bridge that will be tolled when it is completed but Lagos/Ibadan road and Abj/Lokoja road which cost more than 2nd niger bridge will not be tolled.

Our leaders have failed us,look at how the immigration woman was removed even when we all know that northerners and westerners heading government agencies do worst things. We have failed to utilize our new found superior electoral votes and instead have wasted 4years of having a president that is close to south east.

Look at how the onitsha port was abandoned,Geometric power plant that can change the face of industrialization in the east being frustrated, Onitsha - Enugu road nothing 4 close to 4years now and so many things too numerous to mention.

Those things listed above have the capacity to change South East Nigeria forever, but we do not have the leaders to achieve it 4nw and this is the only opportunity that we have.

Also pls let us stop comparing which state is more superior in the east, cos when gowon was bombing the east during the civil war he did not do it based on which state is more superior. The civil war would have served as a bond to hold us together in unity regardless of our political differences.
Lastly I am not blaming Gej for anything but our leaders have all failed us. Nuff said already, thank you my brothers.

www.nairaland.com/2028283/anambra-local-government-chairmen-should
Pls Can we appraise them on that thread
Yes!we need to appraise what they have done so far. The problem we have is that people concentrate on those @ the center like presidents & governors and forget that we have local government chairmen.

Let us look at what they have done, starting from the local government that generate more income.

The man just want to change the look of things in his state. It is not a bad ideal, cos it is obtainable in developed countries. I really do not see anything wrong with what he did and hope to see more of this changes in my dear state.

The problem we have is our mentality and the way we think, so now everything should be Hilux, why not SUV cars for the police. Please think big and stop all this comments.

Waste Management is another thing that needs to be tackled in Anambra. Honestly the residents are really trying cos I do see people almost every saturdays emptying their refuse themselves even after paying. In fact throughout my 2 months visit in fegge, they came only once and before we could carry our waste downstairs they have left. People don't depend on them anymore. Something needs to be done ASAP.
We need to ask this people serious questions cos we are the once paying them. I stayed with my cousin brother for a while @ Awada and I found out that the place is well planned, it only lack good road and ornamental tress and flowers. If residential areas like Awada, obosi, Nkpor etc have good/marked inter-Street roads and beautiful ornamental trees and flowers!then we would be more happy with the way things are going.

Please do any1 have information about the refinery project. Some one have earlier promised us pictures of the project in this thread.

Seconded...Anambra is on serious facelift fire. Gov. Obiano is a workhorse!!!

For once in my life, I'm very optimistic about the future of Anambra. Obiano style of broad development of Anambra state of all sectors is something that I admire. He addresses every concerns in the minds of Anambrans: revamping of major towns... Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi; security; roads; agriculture; education; commerce and business opportunity; tourism; and many more. Especially security which many have expressed great success! If he stays focused in all these key areas, Anambra is a state to watch out for in 4 yrs
I just like the way obiano is handling the affairs of Anambra State. Just imagine a man that have a target of $1.9billion in 1yr and have so far achieved $1.4billion in 8months,seriously I think he need our prayers. I remember what people(IGBO's)use to say then in Kano(kufar ruwa market):that he his 1st car was stolen by criminals @ upper iweka and he vow to deal with them whenever he have the opportunity(like I said it is just normal beer parlor gist grin).

We need to ask the commissioners what they are doing on their own. They should not just allow the governor to do everything for them. It is not until the governor signs a contract with a foreign firm to beautiful Anambra before the commissioner for Environment will know that he (uba) can put our waste management officials to proper use.

Both of you are the reason why this thread have gotten to this extent and should not fight over this for the sake of the thread. OreMI22 view is objective from an Engineers point of view, while Schematics is also saying the same thing from a different perspective.

I like your posts (Schematics & OreMI22) but I wish it should be devoid of Insults.

One thing I like about obaino, is his desire for higher quality and taste in any project that he is embarking upon. The previous coy handling both the international market and the onitsha mall projects have being replaced and I think it is because of quality and standard that is attached to the project.

Lastly, no one should be criticized for saying his or her mind. We are all here to make our state better by our contributions.

Yes it is the same plan that peter obi have about that international market. I think obiano just changed the firm handling the project.

Seriously continuation in government is the best, unlike some other states where you will see abandoned projects throughout the state. My prayer is that all this mou will be fully achieved. The confidence that I have is that the first mou with coscharis for coched farms in anaku have being achieved because I heard they were recruiting(on hot nigeria jobs 19 june 2014).

They may have started work on their site, with a target of achieving 12000 paddy rice every year. God bless Anambra and IGBO land in General.

My brother I am so happy with this post, this is what we need in Anambra State. Why I am this happy is because he (willie Obiano) is focused on my field. I studied Agric/Engineering and you know that if this Agro-Industries is sustained then we can boost of a Mechanized Farm in Anambra State(Not many states in Nigeria can boost of a mechanized farm).

Seriously this man is trying his best In every sector. That is why I am calling on the commissioner for Environment to put more effort on beautification. I know that they are trying of recent, but they can do more.

See every1 here is complaining about IDC, I also dislike the works they do and wish better construction coys will be given those jobs in Anambra State.

It is a known fact that IDC gets 70% of all the construction works in Anambra State. Even the three flyovers @ Awka that was recently awarded was also given to them. My major problem with IDC is their poor finishing. Take a look at the pix of Inter-Bau and compare it with that of IDC,you will see a big difference.

6 states to benefit from BOI, Agric Ministry’s N13.6bn rice, cassava mills

on November 03, 2014 / in Business 12:53 am / Comments

By Favour Nnabugwu & Raphael Izokpu

Sixteen states are to benefit from the N13.6billion pact entered into by the Bank of Industry, BOI and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as intervention funds for rice and cassava milling in the country.

The duo signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for N13.6 bn loan solely targetted at the private sector at a maximum of 10 years with a 3-year cessation at 5 per cent interest flat rate per annum to 16 benefiting states.

Ten out of the 16 states – Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Ogun and Anambra, are for rice mills while the remaining seven states – Ondo, Ogun, Abia, Delta, Cross River and Nasarawa are for cassava mills.

The Managing Director of BOI, Mr Rasheed Olaoluwa at the signing of the MOU in Abuja on Thursday, explained that the objective of the Federal Government’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda is not only to increase crop production, but also to create value-added food processing industries as a means of reducing food imports.

“And the whole idea of the fund is to enable this administration to advance the already successful agric transformation agenda and to take it to an advanced stage, by setting up 10 medium sized rice mills and 6 high quality cassava mills across the country.

“Over the last three years, a lot of activities have been undertaken to improve and encourage the local production of the items in Nigeria as we are now in the critical stage where there is a need for effective processing of the agricultural produce,” he said.

Speaking further, the BoI boss stated that the MoU will address the modalities of ensuring that the 16 states which the funds are meant for, materialised in few months time, adding that, “it is therefore hoped that by the time the 10 rice and 6 cassavas mills companies are fully operational, evidently, the amount of rice and cassava importation in Nigeria would be significantly reduced, if not totally eliminated.”

Responding, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural development, Dr Akinwumi Adeshina, said the federal government has resolved to bridge the milling gap in the country

Adeshina said the ministry had been able to reach out to “Within three years 6million farmers who cultivated two million hectares and have produced seven million metric tons of rice. He affirmed that the N13.6billion will integrate rice mills with a 36,000 metric tons capacity each from the 10 mills in those States and 72,000 metric tons capacity each from the cassava mills in the six States.

Try to listen to Obiano's comments about developing Anambra just like Dubai. We are talking of Dubai when they just started developing. Dubai's renaissance started 20- 30 years ago and counting... We are just starting. Most of these structures you posted came up in the last few years while more (and better ones) are still coming up... it is a process. First you make your place livable and advertise yourself, then investors will start trooping in. Anambra has just begun and if the current tempo is sustained at least, we will get there in no distant time insha Allah.
If he has a blueprint to run with, then I will say it is better, but how sure are you that the next government will continue from where he stopped. The Onitsha hotel and convention centre looks ok in terms of structure, but the surroundings looks very poor and I hope it will have enough space. While that of Agulu Lake resort have good space for landscaping.

This is the same reason I am advocating for the need to handle one project at a time, have it done with high taste, then you can proceed to the need project.

I seriously hope that we have the funds to complete all the projects are the same time.

[ZZZzXzXzxxZxZ zXzXzXzzquote a xthor=OkijaAmaka post=27485446]Ye, i dont like liÐfrke Obi for not banning Okada, he should have banrfned it but since government is stable lets kno0w whether Obiano or even FG will do the needfful.
Besides Obi xfmight have looked into the economic implications of banning okada considering that about 80% of okada and its parts in West Africa are locally produced in Nnewi.
What if he banned the Okada and factories in Nnewi started retrenching, the managements of those coy will accuse him of killing their businesses while workers in those factories will aslo curse him for sending to bed on empty stomach.
The best thing is to summon those manufactueres and tell them the need to move into Keke parts manufacturing because the policy of banning Okada could be in the offing.
Lets not wake and ban Okada, besides am seeing the gradual demise of Okada now in Nigeria because Keke is better and more lucrative. Nobody does hire purchase Okada again but Keke, my brother wanted who will take his bike on hire purchase but the price wasnt encouraging, the person was even persuading him to buy Keke that he will take it on any amount, to show you that the operators are no longer interested even the passengers are become scared of okada[/quote]You just spoke my mind!like seriously, you cannot wake up one morning and just ban okada cos Anambra State is a business State. The adverse effect will be huge, even though I support the ideal of banning okada in our major cities,we still need to meet the manufacturers and inform them of this plan. In kano state for example, the motor cycle spare part market (kufar ruwa), all the parts are imported from Nnewi. Infact you have to go to Nnewi and meet the importer, then he will supply you the goods.,from piston to rings, tubes etc. They have inscriptions like this tobias, ocheson, ezees and the rest. Heard that most of them are made in Nnewi, while others are imported from China with the goods bearing the Owners Name.
