German Government says beyond investment in oil, it is ready to partner with the Rivers State Government to venture into Hydrogen, Agriculture and Industrial products in the state. Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara says his administration is not only establishing a strong investment-driven relationship with the German government but has also ensured a safe climate for business to thrive in the State. This was the assurance that Governor Fubara gave when he met, behind closed doors, the Vice Consul-General of Germany to Nigeria, Mr Jochen Schindelarz and the business delegation of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce at Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday. Mr Schindelarz briefed newsmen after the meeting and expressed his excitement at the assurance given by Governor Fubara to sustain a safe environment for their various investments in the State and ensure that they are protected. “This was the main point and I think it is the most important thing the governor can do for us because if investments are not protected and safe, there won’t be any investment. “So, this is what I take away from this meeting and all these are the basis of good investment. I think we will establish a good partnership and it will motivate our companies to invest here.” The team leader of the delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, Mr Sebastian Glaeser said there is now a mutual agreement for more business representatives of Rivers State to be sponsored to Europe to showcase investment opportunities. Mr Glaeser informed that both the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHACCIMA) and the German chamber have been tasked to facilitate such business visits that will facilitate increased direct foreign investments in the State. “Our investment in Oil and Gas is already working because last year a big contract was signed for energy supply. Now, the next step is to also go beyond oil to Hydrogen, into agriculture, into industrial products and we are looking forward to that. “Coming to Europe on trade fares, on road shows, on conferences, on business forums to present the opportunities here is important. “Such visits by industry leaders to see what is there and then to figure out how you can merge those with the richness of Rivers State is good.” https://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/2024/02/10/fubara-receives-german-vice-consul-assures-a-safe-investment-in-rivers/ |
Former chief whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipi, has revealed how detractors paid what he described as unbelievable amounts of money to truncate governance in the state and to unseat Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Bipi disclosed this yesterday during the thanksgiving service held in honour of the Supreme Court victory of Fubara at Akinima, headquarters of Ahoada-West local government area of the state. The former chief whip, who represented the governor at the event, said the detractors were afraid and have resorted to intimidation and harassment of Fubara’s supporters in the state, using the police as willing tools. He admonished President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be wary of some characters in his cabinet, noting the mischievous roles some of them played against the former president Goodluck Jonathan in their political journey to limelight. Receiving defectors from Labour Party (LP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other opposition parties in the state, Vice Chairman of PDP, Rivers West Senatorial District, Hon Robinson Ewoh asserted that by the backing of the constitution of Nigeria and the PDP, Fubara is the leader of the party in Rivers State and as such is empowered to utilise the dexterity of the red biro to maintain leadership. In his reception speech, Hon Sokari Goodboy, member Rivers State House of Assembly, reiterated Ahoada-West LGA’s total support for the state governor, Sir Fubara, stating that the LGA is in solidarity to the end. Goodboy also issued a note of warning to chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Hope Ikiriko to prepare for a petition of accountability to restore the properties worth millions he destroyed at the initial venue of the thanksgiving/reception service. https://leadership.ng/detractors-paid-to-truncate-rivers-governance-ex-chief-whip/ |

Otis Boykin was born on August 29, 1920, in Dallas, Texas.[2][3] His father, Walter B. Boykin, was a carpenter, and later became a preacher. His mother, Sarah, was a maid, who died of heart failure when Otis was a year old. This inspired him to help improve the pacemaker.[4] Boykin attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, where he was the valedictorian, graduating in 1938.[5] He attended Fisk University[3] on a scholarship, worked as a laboratory assistant at the university's nearby aerospace laboratory, and left in 1941.[citation needed] (CardioNetworks ECGpedia) A chest x-ray of a pacemaker Boykin then moved to Chicago, where he found work as a clerk at Electro Manufacturing Company.[4] He was subsequently hired as a laboratory assistant for the Majestic Radio and Television Corporation; at that company, he rose to become foreman of their factory. By 1944, he was working for the P.J. Nilsen Research Labs.[6] In 1946–1947, he studied at Illinois Institute of Technology,[7] but dropped out after two years; some sources say it was because he could not afford his tuition, but he later stated he left for an employment opportunity and did not have time to return to finish his degree.[5] One of his mentors was Dr. Denton Deere, an engineer and inventor with his own laboratory. Another mentor was Dr. Hal F. Fruth, with whom he collaborated on several experiments, including a more effective way to test automatic pilot control units in airplanes.[4] The two men later went into business, opening an electronics research lab in the late 1940s.[3] In the 1950s, Boykin and Fruth worked together at the Monson Manufacturing Corporation; Boykin was the company's chief engineer.[8] In the early 1960s, Boykin was a senior project engineer at the Chicago Telephone Supply Corporation, later known as CTS Labs. It was here that he did much of his pacemaker research.[9] But Boykin subsequently sued CTS for $5 million, asserting that his former employer had obtained a patent and tried to take credit for the device that he developed.[10] After the suit was eventually dismissed, and his career at CTS had ended, he opened his own consulting and research company, with offices in both the US and Paris, France.[11]
