*THE LAGOS MEET&GREET (HOW IT WENT DOWN)*

Sunday, 19th DhH 1438/ 10th September 2017.

The event was slated to start at 10:00am, but due to issues beyond us, we started at around 12:10pm as a reasonable amount of members were already seated at this time.

We started with the famed Khutbah al-Haajah, the members already on ground gave a brief introduction of themselves and Bro. Bluedome gave a beautifully recitation from the Quran.

Bro. Olatuson came on stage, gave a detailed history of the organization, from its days at the Nairaland Islam section, its Mission and Vision, the Executives (those on ground were introduced), the Shoorah, the change of name from Nairaland to Nafih, achievements, ongoing tasks, challenges thus far and Umm Amina rendered same as regards the MSMS.

Our respected hosts, eNarrate.com also gave us a summary of what they're all about and most of the members downloaded the app there and then.... At this point Salatul Dhurr had set in, we took the necessary break and observed the salah.

On resumption, suggestions and recommendations on the Website, MSMS and all the pre-discussed matters came up. The website was projected for all to see so as to make informed suggestions and some of what was suggested goes thus;

*a) Website*
- Not attractive enough,
- The articles should be seen immediately you log on to it,
- Mails not delivered or not been responded to early enough,
- Latest events should be the topmost gist,
- The dot com domain name; suggestion have it that it should be a dot org since it's an organization,
- The brother managing the webpage and social media accounts was commended for a job well done so far,

b) Namusorg should try collaborate with other Muslim organizations who share the same values and beliefs.

c) MSMS should be improved on - the fact that we have MSMS and single brothers and sisters dominate the Lagos event is more like a clash.

d) More capable hands who're willing to give their best should be placed on the website and MSMS to achieve the desired results.

First course refreshment was served prior to the salah break and while Q&A, suggestions, criticism and recommendations was ongoing, brothers and sisters were helping themselves to cake, chops and drinks.

We tried ourselves at two fun games, each with its own peculiarity, pitching the brothers against the sisters, the men won the first one and unsurprisingly the women won the second.

We had a brother gave us closing admonition on the dangers of show-off in acts of worship, vote of thanks was said, we ended the event with the expiation of assembly, observed Salatul Asr and goodbyes were said.

We had about 30 persons in attendance, with 18 being Namusorg members.

And Allah knows best.

*Being The Report on Namusorg Ibadan Get-Together-*

_The Venue was the Agodi Gardens,Parliament Road and the date was 19th DhulHijja,1438.(10th of September,2017.)_

*The First salvo*

Despite an arrival as early as 7:30am at the venue, I was barred from having access into the facility to set up our post and prepare for the arrivals of other members.

The reason was that the Garden was being used for a movie location and it can only be open to us by 12noon.

This was considered a major setback to the plan.

*A Pandorax Box*

Though I had stationed a brother at the venue while I tried to move all other needed items to the location, it was really a blessing that the programme started late.

It offered us a lifeline to complete all vital assignments. This took us nearly close to the 12noon mark.

_*The Early Birds and High hopes*_

A sister _Mamamama_,who was a member hitherto unknown, was the first to arrive shortly after 10am.

This was to be followed soon by a brother, _Ademony_ who came all the way from Ife.

These two being the first arrivals gave a rather premature hope of a bustling presences to be witnessed.

*Commencement of Programme.*

The Programme which was anchored by bro Abdulwaheed Araoye commenced about 12:35pm. He gave the opening admonitions which was later followed by recitation from the Glorious Quran by two of the children present. They recited from verse 142- 149 of Suratul Baqarah.

4 brothers and 3 sisters were present at commencement.

*The Sessions*

The first session witnessed the Ameer gave his opening address and a presentation on Namusorg; its emergence, Missions and Visions, Goals, the various platforms and the challenges being faced.

Bro Sharafadeen Olayiwola( Passingshot) made contributuons on the role of Msms.

This was followed by an interactive session

Members commended the organization. However much comments centred on MSMS.

Issues raised include:

1) The MSMS form should be abridged

2) The matching process should be less cumbersome.

3) Provisions should be made to also cater for special cases like divorcee and those interested in plural marriages.

*The Beautiful Admonition*
The Lecture and the Q&A was the high point of the event.

Bro Abdulwaheed Araoye's description of the _Garden of Bliss'_, after the observance of Salat Dhur was so motivating and people were literally forced to stop coming forth with questions and comments after about 3 hours of discussion which witnessed us praying Asr midway into it.

*Refreshments*

Fruit Salad was served soon as members arrived.

During the cause of the Lecture, snacks were served and ,at this time, we had had more members and three guests arrived.

Cake, chinchin, Eggrolls(30pcs) and Fish rolls(36pcs)were prepared to cater for the estimated 30(or slightly more) attendees.

*The Newbies*

The guests took turns to ask for details about Namuorg which they applauded and thereafter asked to be accepted as members.

*Relaxation time*

All males participated in the football match while the kids served as ball-boys.

The females used the opportunity to have some private chats amongst them

All members, along with the kids, proceeded to zoological gardens.

This took us close to the time for Salat Magrib when members departed in teams.

*Attendance*

A total number of 10 brothers and sisters were in attendance.

11 kids were also around to add colours and fanfare.

*Challenges and Recommendations*

1) It was pretty hard for one executive member to shoulder the responsibilities of setting-up a venue that needed everything to be made functional. It may be considered to have more than one Executive member, preferably males, in Ibadan .

2) The choice of a Sunday was perfect. Future considerations should be given, however, to Namusorg asking for a waiver to access the venue earlier than opening hours to the public.

3) The programme needs better financing. Provisions should be made for tents in the event of an unfriendly weather.

4) Though the venue was serene till about 4pm, it became rowdy towards dawn. Special attention should be given to securing parts of the Garden that are not prone to obscenity.

*Finances*

Venue's Access Fee:17,500
Drinks and Ice block: 4,100
Fruits Salad(36packs) 3,250-
Snacks-11,500
Serving packs,serviettes, tooth picks- 1,800
Football-850

Total- N43,050

*Conclusion*

The Namusorg Get together offers a great opportunity to other users of the Garden a unique narrative that Islam is an all encompassing way of life as many Muslims and non-Muslims alike shared the events with us.

We ask Allah for, forgiveness and ultimate reward of His pleasure just as we pray for growth for Namusorg.

JazaakumuLlah khayran.
