Majority of the people commenting here do not even know the realities on ground in Osun State. Ogbeni rauf has essentially borrowed Osun State into oblivion, for what? "World class" schools? Who will teach there? Teachers that are owed several months salary and continually treated like trash.

Infact one of these schools in Osogbo township is empty as of now, no students to fill it.

We need to stay woke youths, do not be deceived by these colorful projects, the current political class do not have our best interest at heart.

How does building a colorful school improve the lots of Osun state indigenes?

Aregbesola might have made some financial miscalculations regarding state revenue (especially after FAAC allocations began to reduce significantly), but NO SANE HUMAN BEING should fault him on the quality of two things in Osun State under him: education (schools) and roads!

The almost faultless infrastructure in some of Aregbesola's primary and high/secondary schools (including the one showcased here and the ones commissioned before now and those still under construction) in Osun are FAR, FAR BETTER than what we have in some so-called State Universities in Nigeria!

Truth must be told, even if we do not agree on everything...

There is no school in the UK or the US that has got lesser facilities and equipment than any school in Osun state. There's a minimum standard and no school in Osun would even qualify based on that minimum standard.

Following the payment of over N5.1billion to workers by the state Government of Osun, pensioners under the aegis of Forum 2011/12 retired public servant in Osun has staged a well-planed protest demanding for more payment from the government.

The protest which coincided with the 3rd day Fidua prayer of Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola, mother of the governor who died on Tuesday, was staged to press home more payment from the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The pensioners who converged at the entrance of the state’s secretariat, Abere were seeing discussing with no placards to drive home reasons for their protest.

Recall that the state government of Osun committed N5.1 billion out of the N6.3 billion second tranche Paris club refund received from the federal government for the payment of salaries and pensions.

It was gathered that the workers, pensioners inclusive have since been receiving credit alert of payment of the agreed payment reached with the various unions.

The government reached the sharing formula through the state’s Revenue Allocation Committee, led by Hassan Sunmonu, in conjunction with labour unions in the state.
It was learnt that the unions agreed to the decision to pay the arrears of July and August 2015, the balance of leave bonuses of 2015 to workers in grade level 8-17 who had been receiving modulated salaries, as well as the July 2017 salary and pension entitlements to all workers in the state.
Prince Rotimi Adelugba, the Chairman of the Triangular Group of Pensioners in Osun State described the latest protest embarked upon by a faction of pensioners as ‘sponsored’, describing their conduct as unnecessary and a plot to undermine the good intention of the government.

He said the state government has paid the salary of all workers in the state up to July, 2017 in line with the agreement made between it and the labour union.

According to him, the state government and the labour union met and decided that the state should pay July and August, 2015 balance of the modulated salaries of workers whose pay had been on modulation since 2015.

The Osun Triangular Pensioners Chairman warned those that are preoccupied in sowing seed of discord with aim of heating up the polity and inciting the populace against the government to desist in the collective interest of all in the state.

Prince Adelugba opined that at a time when the whole state is in mourning over the death of the illustrious mother of our governor, it is only fair that they sympathize with him and the government, rather than put up a show of shame, on a day dedicated for the 3rd Fidau Prayer for Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola.

In an interesting twist, one of the protesters, who dressed like an Islamic cleric was spotted with a black goat, for yet to be identified purpose, however, the policemen on ground barred the man from slaughtering the animal.

1. The person that told you "your brain is paining you" is on point. You think everything about IGR relates 100% to teachers' salary?
2. On IGR, You make such a weak, pedestrian point, you did not back such up with quantitative data.
3. Pray tell, what is the thrust of your lame IGR point? Is IGR static? Conventional wisdom should have told you that to be able to increase your performance on payments, the logical option is to grow IGR, especially when federal allocation is dwindling. I thought a quick "google search" would have put to rest the needless argument you keep making about IGR. How can anyone in his right senses rationalise investment in infrastructe, education and development as a second order priority.

6. So let us talk about teachers salary issue in Osun state. So the picture is Aregbesola took a "gamble" in taking huge debt on infrastructure development.......economy went south........salaries were affected. How is this different from virtually all the state governors except Lagos and Ogun, who could not pay their civil servants and had to rely on bail out from FG? The big question is how have they been able to navigate the trouble waters? I am sure you are aware that Aregbe is about the most transparent with the Paris Club funds. He was about the only governor that published how it was utilised without being prompted to do so. He is one of the few governors that ICPC gave a clean bill of health on the use of the Paris Club funds. He has deployed the Paris Club funds solely to clear the back log in a creative way. He formed a joint committee of Labour Union/Civil Servants/Govt who oversaw how the funds was disbursed.
7. What is in it for Osun with these schools? few of the upsides;
a. First of is that students will have access to decent learning environments like their global counterparts. I am sure you cannot quantify the benefit of qualitative education of a citizen and how it solves his future problems in a long way
b. Secondly enrollment rate will not only increase, but these schools will adequately accommodate them. Each of the model schools can take up to 3000 students
c. With high enrollment, also comes an increase in government spending which will stimulate the economy. The school feeding program is connected to agri-business, the uniform is connected to textile industry, infrastructure to these school is also an empowerment medium
d. Have you imagined the "butterfly effect" of some of these projects? How it opens up new areas for value not only directly to the people impacted, but consequence impact on secondary and tertiary beneficiaries - Middle players in transport, logistics, waste collectors, software developers, skill acquisition outfits, farms and support services etc?


Finally, when you make assertions, pls back it up with facts. The Osun Sukuk bond will be paid in full by 2020, at which point all sets are fully owned by Osun. I wonder where you got your phantom 50years scaremongering nonsense from. Yes it is a difficult period, but Osun has prospect for prosperity as they have laid the foundation for it.
