Original caption: "South African offensives in WW1. A haunting image showing the destruction of innocence and the disillusionment of defeat - here a wounded German prisoner, aged only 16 years old - already demonstrates the "thousand yard stare" (a condition of emotional and physical exhaustion after prolonged combat exposure). He was captured near Potijze by Scottish and South African troops, during the Battle of the Menin Road Ridge, 20th September 1917." Real history. 1 Like

Original caption: "Another reason why South Africans can hold their heads high - this is the South African Air Force squadron which first 'discovered' and then photographed Auschwitz concentration camp. Seen here is a SAAF De Haviland Mosquito FB mk VI of 60 Squadron in Italy - 3 September 1944. The Squadron, equipped with photo-recce Mosquitoes, carried out detailed large-scale photographic surveys of German held areas, eventually ranging over the Alps and deep into Germany. During one of these missions in Spring 1944, a 60 Squadron Mosquito piloted by Lt. C.H.H Barry and his navigator Lt. I McIntyre photographed Auschwitz when they went to photograph the rubber refinery plant next to the camp. When the photos were analyzed, they found rows of people lining up in the camp. The photos also showed chimneys and all the other characteristics of a camp for prisoners. This, with other intelligence, brought them to the conclusions that extermination camps existed."

FighterPilot: Same story and history for South African military that was defeated by ordinary Rhino hunters. For Nigerian army, when the war is over, history will read that we defeated the most powerful Islamic terrorist force is Africa. Now there is no problem about a war in Nigeria, the sweet thing for history is that we got Victory at the end. The end of story for South Africa is the read bad news, your Soweto grandchildren will read that Rhino hunters finally defeated SANDF and your government relocated your precious Rhinos to permanent exile to Botswana . |

Boko Haram: Over 400 killed in Konduga, Ngamdu as soldiers ambush insurgents By Maina Maina on September 17, 2014@dailypostngr Images (21)No fewer than 400 members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram were reportedly killed in their latest clash with soldiers of the Nigerian 7 division. The insurgents fell to the officers who ambushed them while they tried to attack Konduga local government area of Borno central senatorial district. Locals also said, that, they attempted to attack Konduga from two directions with over 500 fighters when the military fought and defended the local government, killing over 200 before the insurgents retreated. DailyPost also gathered that, after the attack was repelled, some of them went through the forest and were heading towards Mafa local government area when soldiers laid ambush on them again, killing over 100 while the rest escaped with bullet wounds. In another development, over 100 sect members who came up to attack travelers along Maiduguri- Potiskum road met their Waterloo when the detachment along that route engaged them in a fierce battle, killing all of them. http://dailypost.ng/2014/09/17/boko-haram-400-killed-konduga-ngamdu-soldiers-ambush-insurgents/ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/troops-recover-3-vehicles-1-apc-insurgents-laleye/ http://defenceinfo.mil.ng/troops-crush-terrorists-revenge-mission-at-konduga/ |

Patchesagain: Your peacetime army is an untested army, and nothing makes an average football team that only trains at home, to be better than the average one that plays in the world cup. From your own definitions above, a revolutionist is an insurgent who has taken over government, he is still an insurgent, just that he is a successful one that won political control of the territory. ANC insurgents defeated South African military and established a revolutionary government of successful insurgents. Successful Insurgency = Revolution. A revolutionist is an insurgent. DieVluit: You are the one who does not know what development means. Let me help you with a simple example. China builds vehicle and aircraft engines, South Africa imports all such things. "The composition of our bilateral trade remains a concern. Over 90% of South Africa’s top 10 exports to China are in raw materials while 100% of our top 10 imports from China are manufactured products," the minister said in a written reply to a parliamentary question by African National Congress (ANC) MP Freddie Adams." http://www.bdlive.co.za/business/trade/2014/03/12/bilateral-trade-with-china-on-the-increase The difference between candle flame and sunshine . 1 Like |

Thiza: The South African Air force (SAAF) impressed foreign military dignitaries at Tuesday’s Air Capability Demonstration (ACD) with an impressive display of firepower and synchronised manoeuvring. Every country in the world with an air force can drop bombs successfully in a testing-training location at home. South African military keeps firing weapons at stones, sand and trees in the bush, when will your Gripen jets and Hawk jets ever fire at a real enemy that can fire back? In a battlefield where your own army is mixed with the enemy fighters inside a city with civilains, that is the true test of military skills and capability-professionalism. Togo republic too can fire Alpha jets rockets and bombs against trees in the bush with no response from the enemy that does not exist 3 Likes

FighterPilot: My pleasure.... "Starting in January 2015, a conservation group will fly as many as 100 rhinos from South Africa to Botswana in an attempt to save the animal from extinction. The relocation project comes after one of the deadliest years for rhinos on record, with more than 1,000 killed in South Africa alone, according to the South Africa Department of Environmental Affairs." http://mashable.com/2014/08/13/south-africa-airlift-rhinos/ "(Reuters) - South Africa plans to move up to 500 rhinos from its flagship Kruger National Park to counter a wave of poaching of the animals for their horns, highly prized in newly affluent Asian countries as a sign of wealth. Officials said on Tuesday the mission could see some of the animals shipped to nearby Botswana and Zambia as South Africa grapples with a poaching epidemic that has seen more than 630 rhinos killed so far this year, 408 of them in Kruger." http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/12/us-safrica-rhinos-idUSKBN0GC1AB20140812 Proved : South African military defeated, Rhino Poachers win the war ! . 1 Like |

rka1: Boko Haram: Over 400 killed in Konduga, Ngamdu as soldiers ambush insurgents THESE NEWS REPORTS ALWAYS SMELL OF A RAT. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN BOKO HARAM AMBUSH SOLDIERS, THE NUMBER OF CASUALTIES ALWAYS TURNED TO BE DOWNPLAYED, BUT WHEN SOLDIERS AMBUSH THE INSUGENTS THEN THE NUMBERS ALWAYS ARE BALLOONED? DO WE SAY THAT INSURGENTS ARE THAT INCAPABLE THAT EVEN WHEN THEY CAUGHT SOLDIERS FLAT FOOTED ONLY PICK THE FEW. PROPAGANDA NEVER WINS THE WAR. THE TRUTH WAS REVEALED WHEN SOLDIERS MUTINIED AGAINST OWN COMMANDER AFTER THEY LOST COMRADES WHICH YET AGAIN THE ARMY DOWNPLAYED. I REALLY DO NOT BELIEVE WHATEVER NONSENSE THAT COMES OUT OF NIGERIA'S MILITARY. |
