Great caught. It just goes to say that a large number of highly skilled/educated Nigerians moved (or studied) to the UK.

The bolded is racist sha.
It may be a joke, but it’s racial stereotyping, which is not good.

Imagine if an Indian forum sees the data on Nigeria and writes: Expect more terrorists, fraudsters (419) and Thieving/fraudulent pastors...
Will you interpret it as a joke?

By the way:
India population estimate (2018): 1,352,617.33
Nigeria population estimate (2018):195,874.74

Remove 1 million, they still have 352,617.33
While Nigeria

Home Secretary Priti Patel to introduce ‘vindaloo visas’ to save the nation’s curry houses
By Kate Ferguson
9th September 2019, 12:01 am
Updated: 9th September 2019, 12:02 am

BRITAIN will introduce “vindaloo visas” to save the nation’s curry houses, the Home Secretary will announce today.
Priti Patel is unveiling plans to lift immigration restrictions on skilled chefs.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9889391/priti-patel-vindaloo-visas-britain-curry-houses/#comments
----
https://workpermit.com/news/uk-vindaloo-visa-perhaps-based-current-tier-2-visa-20190915

Patel wants to ease UK immigration restrictions on skilled chefs, amid fears that Indian restaurants are closing at a rapid rate in Britain. Patel’s family emigrated to the UK from Uganda and was originally from India.
----

https://www.easterneye.biz/tory-win-renews-fears-over-immigration-plan/

Skilled chefs are on the Tier 2 visa shortage occupation list. Curry houses have been struggling to recruit overseas talent because of a £30,000 minimum salary threshold, the previous rule that no takeaway service is offered by the restaurant, as well as language requirements. The home secretary is to relax rules restrictions so that restaurants and takeaways can look to south Asia, meaning new recruits to Britain don’t have to meet the earning threshold that applies to workers in other sectors.

According to research, curry houses in the UK are closing at a rate of two per week with the industry pleading to ministers for help for years.

----
In 2017, the then Liberal Democrat Leader, Sir Vince Cable, called on the government to introduce temporary “vindaloo visas” to help address the problem of curry restaurant staff shortages. Two years later, his call has been answered with Priti Patel, the home secretary’s announcement to introduce such measures, which would lift immigration restrictions on skilled chefs from South Asia, thereby removing the recruitment dilemma for restaurant owners.

You are correct - good food and smart South Asians making good use of these opportunities to migrate to the UK.

The UK's curry industry is worth a whopping £5 billion annually. With Brexit, we now need more people from South Asia to sustain the industry.

Nigerians have a great opportunity to benefit from Brexit but most of the time we are busy fighting other people's battles.
Just imagine selling hot Nigerian pepper soup in a country of 66 million people with a temperate climate?

I listened to the former British High Commissioner to Nigeria (Sep 2015 - Nov 2018), Paul Arkwright saying that with Brexit, the UK should be looking at establishing Nigeria as the priority for post-Brexit trade deals and use Nigeria as a test case for global Britain. He stated the following:
- Nigeria produces 10% of Shell's global oil production.
- Nigeria is Guinness's biggest market.
- Lagos and Abuja are the most lucrative routes for British Airways (BA) largely because a lot of Nigerians like to travel first class.
- The Premier League is massively, massively popular in Nigeria.

In a CNBC Africa TV interview he gave in Lagos, he asked: "Why aren't Nigerian avocados and excellent mangoes on the shelves of Sainbury's in London?"

The British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Laure Beaufils (2017-2019) also noted that Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa and the city of Lagos is a bigger economy than the whole of Kenya.
