Ethelia:Actually and in contrary, there is a provision in the Immigration and Refugees protection Act and regulation that provides for a dual intent which mentions that "An intention by a foreign national to become a permanent resident does not preclude them from becoming a temporary resident if the officer is satisfied that they will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay.” Which in other words means, they can apply for both categories of temporary(study, work, visit)and permanent residence simultaneously. The caveat however is that the applicant MUST meet the requirements of each application with that of the study(temp residence) being a satisfiable reason for an officer to believe the applicant would depart Canada at the end of the stay irrespective of the application for permanent residence(Home ties, Business, employment, future employment and other strong assets at home will suffice greatly in this case). Meeting the separate requirements is the main thing when considering both applications simultaneously. Austinpee4: Okay. In my opinion, submitting both applications already puts him at a disadvantage when it comes to the student visa as there is already evidence that he doesn't intend to leave. If he can prove he will leave then the visa will be granted (as you have pointed out) but how then does he prove this? 1 Like |

Ethelia:Yea, i get your point as emboldened. Thing is, officers are guided by the law and the provisions of the Immigration Act and regulations. If it stipulates A, it definitely would be A and each category of application is independent of the other. So in considering each application, the officer ascertain FIRST if the applicant has met the requirement of the category of visa applied for. He/she will NOT fault or use a second application to make a decision because both are separate application and of different category. How does he/she prove possibility to leave Canada since a PR is also being considered? Yes, alot of people especially younger Nigerians want to immigrate permanently so the issue of applying for both categories may be unlikely. Infact, most people who do that want to use their options and not " put all eggs in a basket". So i see the premise your question is coming from. However, a couple of persons who likely are well established in Nigeria with assets, business, companies etc may see a need for higher education and also a need to become a PR of Canada possibly for the benefits of it or social security. In this case, such individual(s) will be able to satisfy an officer that he/she would leave Canada as per requirements for the temporary visa. As we know, their law covers all intent there is to it. The point is, it is LEGITIMATE to apply for PR and temporary visa simultaneously. However the applicant choose to meet each requirements, its left for him/her. They are separate applications and categories Regards. 1 Like |

I did skimming reading on that. I understand you can apply both study permit and PR as long you state you will leave Canada after your study. In another words, You can apply both as long you dont make some decisions on study permit because you applied for PR vice versa. Ethelia: |

Hello fellow pharmacist , Yes you can claim for internship. For the NYSC role you can also claim points, however because your role was as a lecturer, i doubt if you can claim points as a pharmacist but should be able to do so if you can combine NOC's (think some people here have done that successfully) and of course you can claim points with community pharmacy experience. Check the pharmacists NOC job description for further clarifiction Rosheedah: |

ladyAy: NA1 is when your background check is showing 'Not Applicable' before you paseed medical and sometimes even up till few days after you passed medical IP1 is when your background check changes and it's showing 'In Progress' most times same day as medical passed or a few days after NA2 is when your background check changes again and it's showing 'Not Applicable'. This is for the second time that's why we call it 2 IP2 is when your background check changes to 'we are processing your background check'. What is written in front of 'additional documents' too may change from time to time 3 Likes 1 Share |

I feel your pain, this verification thing of WES isn't just annoying. After struggling with getting a transcript, you then have to pray that the Univ gets and then acts on the WES verification request. To make matters worse, WES claims to send emails but these universities never get them it seems. And apparently, verification is only required for African universities. nanaghano: |
