There's new aspects of the job completed at both sites with every subsequent visit, but it's clear the contrators at the conference centre are quicker and pay more attention to detail in delivery than their counterparts at the int'l airport. Looking at the job done on landscaping at the conference centre, one can see they're doing a exquisite job....meanwhile, the landscaping at the airport is yet to start, as i'm still seeing bare earth all over the airside of the airport. Hopefully, next visit, we'll see the avio-bridges installed as well as the arrival of the expected three world-class fire-trucks.....not forgetting appreciable progress on landscaping!

I noticed inside the terminal building still looks a bit dark. Hopefully, it's because they're not using full lighting to save on energy consumption since they're yet to officially open to fee-paying passengers. Don't know if it's still possible to paint the ceiling white...that would help brighten things up even further. There's too much open space upstairs....hopefully, they're still compartmentalising according to plan. We're yet to see where the duty-free shops will be.....also would be nice to see what the toilets look like.

The gov't should ensure the grounds at the airport and conference centre are lighted up at night, and that there's round-the-clock irregular security patrols.....there's too much expensive equipment out in the open, especially at the airport.

UNIZIK gets N1bn grant from BUA group for ultra-modern student centre

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK), has received a grant of one billion naira (N1bn) from a non-profit organisation, Abdul Samad Rabiu, ASRAfrica Initiative for the construction of an international students centre.

Tribune Online learnt that the contract came from Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative, ASR Africa, the founder of BUA Group and cement manufacturing company, Abdul Samad Rabiu.

Receiving the grant, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, who expressed gratitude to the donors of the grant, said the mega Students Centre in the institution, when completed, would be the first and best of its kind in Nigeria in particular and Africa at large.

The vice-chancellor who made the statement at the Council Chambers of the institution on Friday said the students centre would house the Students Affairs Unit, International Students Centre, Centre for Council and Career Development, Acting Theatre, the Student Union Government (SUG) secretariat including their respective arms, among other features in the varsity.

Prof Esimone emphasised that the institution was blessed having been found worthy to receive the award grant for the construction of the wonderful edifice, noting that it would be highly useful to the students of the institution after completion.

Speaking at the event, the Founder of ASRAfrica Initiative, Alhaji Abdul Sama Rabiu, represented by a former Minister of Health, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hung, said the project was borne out of aspiration to contribute his quota to the growth and development of the country education sector.

He said the idea was to set aside funds for intervention in the area of education, health and social development in Nigeria and Africa in general.

“The chairman has a commitment of setting aside one hundred million dollars annually of which fifty Million Dollars is set aside specifically for Nigeria and the remaining $50m for the rest of Africa.

“In part of what we have done so far, this is the last lap of the university intervention of N1billion development grant to one institution in each geographical zone of the country.”

He reassured that the N1 billion project would commence in a couple of months and commended the institution for their commitment on the project, even as he promised quick completion of the project.

Nice one, Mr Rabiu!

I've always had a soft spot for the guy as he seems genuinely fair-minded and nationalistic in his dealings.

The general ambience of the airport is still a bit sombre in my opinion but the most relevant thing is safety and security of operations at the airport, that has been effectively taken care of and we are good to go................all aesthetics and comfort issues can be taken care of later by soludo or whoever wins.

The airport is completed !!!
To God be the Glory!!!

Anambra International airport is the 3rd runway in Nigeria with both runway edge and CENTER lights. Only Abuja Intl. airport and Lagos Intl airport had such an international standard runway with Runway Center lights seen in true international airports in advanced countries!

The two luggage carousels are almost ready!

I am so proud of what Obiano has done in this airport! The man insists on QUALITY which makes him stand out from any average Southeast governor or even Nigerian governors.

Part of my pain with Nigerian projects were the stubborn desire to make every project in the 3rd world standard! Even while other countries in Asia and around the world modernize, we were all stuck in the 1930s - 1940s standard of airports, road design, public buildings, train coaches, railroads, etc.

It is very refreshing to see a governor that takes the pain to do things right. The insistence on installing the runway center lights to guarantee easy identification and safe landing at night as is obtainable abroad makes Obiano a true hero!

I am glad, they have decided to open the airport for public use this month. As they do the little finishing touches.

Congratulations to Anambra state!
Congratulations to Southeast Nigeria!
Congratulations to Nigeria for a brand new TRULY INTERNATIONAL-STANDARD airport in the country.

Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this when he joined the Anglican Bishop of Afikpo Diocese, Right Reverend Paul Udogu to celebrate his fifty years birthday.

Governor Obiano reassured that his administration will finish on a very strong note, saying that they have written to Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority concerning the commencement of flight operations at the airport, assuring that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority will soon come for another inspection.

While expressing satisfaction with the components of the airport, the Governor reminded Ndi Anambra of the need to vote for APGA in November sixth governorship election for enhanced development of the State.

The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba thanked Governor Obiano who he maintained performed creditably, praying that God’s will shall prevail in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.

He called on eligible voters to participate actively in the election and assured of sustaining prayer for both the State and nation.

Earlier in a sermon, the Archbishop of Bendel Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Ugheli, Diocese, Most Reverend Cyril Odutemu said that Anambra State is moving geometrically in development, prayed for continuity, saying that the State always stand out in all ramifications which he explained is the reason God had always chosen Ndi Anambra in strategic positions, calling on the celebrant not to forget his community Aguleri.

The service was jointly facilitated by Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexender Ibezim, Bishop of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe and Litany of clergy.

Oga,

Why do you post videos pirated from already existing original videos here?

I wasted my data thinking this was an original video where the person had different angles and new things to add. Only to realize that it was one of those lazy YouTubers who specialized in posting other people's video content instead of working hard to create their own original content. They only add a new thumbnail to make you think it's a different video from the original.

"Hello Anambra IPOB Supporters,

Can I have your ears for just a second or two?

If for any reason, INEC cannot conduct elections in Anambra, the 1999 Constitution gives Buhari the power to declare a state of emergency in the state. Please look up Section 305(3)(c)(d)&(f).

And do you know what that means? I'll tell you in short words.

He will appoint a Sole Administrator for Anambra, most likely a military officer, most likely one with a name like Abubakar or Ahmed or Ibrahim.

You want to further know the implications? I will tell you.

That Sole Administrator will place military units in every community and every ward of your state, complete with the atrocities they're known for. They will militarize the entire state and its markets. They will impose martial law with its consequences.

So what am I saying? First, what am I NOT saying?

I am NOT saying you should not fight o! Ah, who am I to advise you? I am simply saying that if you say there will be no elections in Anambra state, just get ready to fight very well. Get ready to fight the entire military might of not any ordinary government of Nigeria but the most hopelessly vindictive anti-Igbo government since 1970. Get ready to fight because they don't mind withdrawing heavy equipment from the North East just to face you. They're bitter haters of the enterprising Igbo spirit which flourishes in Anambra.

I am not advising you o...God forbid an ordinary me advise you! Who am I kwanu? I am only telling you what WILL come should you persist in your line of action.

Elections will hold come November and a winner will be declared. The militarization will happen before the election, and just like the cowards they are when they allowed Buhari visit Imo State without showing their power, they won't show up on the election day. Idiats.
