Thank you all for this thread. I've read almost all from the 1st one. I need some advice from mummies that have experience and all the gurus in the house. My situation I'm.a doctor but stopped working in January cos I am dedicating 2years to raise my children. I already have a daughter who is 1year old. My EDD is in November. I want to apply for a visa. My question. 1.Do I apply with my husband or my daughter. , or all of us together ,or I apply alone 2. Is it a problem that I'm not working now? 3. Is 11weeks too much to put as my duration of stay I'll be staying at my mother in-law's house. Pls gurus in the house help. |

Congratulations and happy delivery in advance. I recommend you apply with your daughter and husband. You will need to present yourself and your husband in a way to reflect you are active and doing well in Nigeria and will 100% return. You need to find a way to distract attention from your case, otherwise it will count against you. A medical doctor, not working for 2 years, US, Trump, Canadian Embassy's complaints on influx of Nigerians seeking asylum status, etc may raise more questions than answers. Are you completely out of work and business or you are doing something by the side while you take two years off work? Are you still doing private practice? You might think of a way to present it without telling lies. You do not have time. Earliest interview date is already September 25. Please act immediately if this is something you want to pursue. Make your home ties VERY strong. 11 weeks is not too much normally but you do not have to state 11 weeks in my opinion. That is not the business of the VO. Most likely, the CBP will still give you 6 months. mpres: 2 Likes |

Yes. Fees and charges vary considerably and you need to ask a lot of questions. In the US, 'terms and conditions' always apply. A Nigerian lady in Irving last week started crying when the hospital told her the cost of circumcision was $2,200, and it was never mentioned at any point before then. Later, someone approached her to tell her she could talk to her doctor and when she did, the doctor offered to do same circumcision for $300 but (definitely) not within the hospital premises. Hearing test may be $475 if you pay after delivery but $150 if you pre-pay. There are many situations like this concerning bills and you have to ask many questions and make many phone calls and send many emails. ikillmods: 1 Like |

TokyoBulls:Thank you so much for your quick response. I do private practice but I work random days a week (only the days I choose to)and my money is usually given to me cash or Cheque. I’m worried I’ll be asked for employment letter, and bank statement if I say Im working.Because there is no consistent salary except what my husband pays me every month. I want to book today. Pls I need more advice, my people. Time is not on my side as you rightfully said. |

Hello everyone In the Spirit of giving back-here’s my trip and POE story. Left lagos for NY via delta air yesterday, carried various dried cut leaves, roasted nuts and ground seeds —all dried, cut and seeds grounded and clearly labeled in zip lock. Immigration in Lagos just asked if I had palm oil and I said No and they checked in my bag. Choose JFK POE even though I was headed for Houston bc I was counseled about meanie Houston Poe (though my visa is medical b2 & I declared pregnant at interview(I have already posted how I got a 2year medics visa for child birth) Delta experience I got to the airport at about 6pm for an 11pm flight so I could see if I can get a seat with more leg room-I told the delta agent and he gave me one on the aisle and close to toilet. Delta didn’t ask for any fit to fly(neither from ur Doc nor airport port health, meanwhile I had to pay 5k at my hospital for fit to fly. Long flight, food was ok but the air hosts no send you o! No preference for preggy. Had to keep asking for water ,standing frequently and pacing the floor. Was glad I carried my long socks -the compression socks I bought wasn’t comfortable to wear, used my neck pillow as back support. POE As we queued for customs at JFK ,everyone was ushered to the self-service scamming point so I scammed my passports and declared over $10k and food stuff etc. Was ushered to the CBP CBP- Good morning, why are you here in the US? Me: to have my baby He took my passport and had a closer look CBP- what food stuffs did you bring? Me- dried vegetables and ground seeds and nuts He stamped me in till Nov 2018 and said “Enjoy your stay” I thanked him and walked off putting my passport in my backbag and my boarding pass in my hand I was wondering where they will ask me all the questions and rehearsals I have read about CBP on Niaraland-it was such a breeze! The Favor of God was shouting loud on my behalf! I was looking at the signs for how to get to JetBlue to board for Houston-I guess I was looking around like JjC Abe two CBP ladies walked up to me and asked for my passport and why I’m the US- I brought it out and gave one of them and answered to give birth And the other One asked me for my due date- I told her and mentioned that my first appointment with my Doc is tomorrow and I can show them the docs correspondence if they want- she gave me back my passport and smiled so I asked them to direct me to JetBlue terminal 5 and they did (I’m sure at that point they knew why I was looking up and down-and knew that it wasn’t like I was nervous or hiding anythin) Went and picked my bags and wanted to get trolley and someone Paid for me to take one. So I took airtrain and elevators to JetBlue. So I’m waiting to board to Houston and then see Dr Z tomorrow. 21 Likes |

Hi guys, I gave birth last year March in Chicago, I used John stroger cook county hospital, my visa expired that same March while in the US, I missed the drop box so I and my husband decided to book appointment for interview. We had our interview may 7. Meanwhile I am pregnant but we have been using B1/B2 visa, and that's what we applied for again. After collecting our passports, the visa officer just asked my hubby what does he do, he said he was an engineer, he also asked me same question, I said I m a home maker. He said you had your baby there last yr, I said yes, he asked what date I told him he also asked if I was pregnant and I said yes, he went further to ask if I would like to give birth in the states. I said yes, he asked how long will I stay if I go, I said 2months.He said OK and just handed over the white paper to us to pick up our visa. We did not spend more than a minute with Him. We were so happy, that same day the rate of denials was so high, but God favoured us. Pls any Chicago mum in the house that has information on accommodation, I will appreciate your help, I will be in Chicago August 2.still planning to use John stroger. Thanks all and wish everyone good luck. 12 Likes 1 Share |
