About Kosovo

Kosovo is a disputed territory and de facto independent country in South Eastern Europe, in central Balkans, with its capital as Pristina. After a lengthy and often violent dispute with Serbia, Kosovo declared independence in February 2008 and (as of 16 October 2012) 110 UN states recognize this and it has become a member country of the IMF and World Bank as the Republic of Kosovo.

Though a secular republic, it is largely Albanian-speaking (although both Albanian and Serbian are spoken) and Muslim but there are also significant numbers of minorities living within its borders. The Euro is its official currency.

Types of Visa to Kosovo

There are several visa types that can be granted to travelers who wish to get into Kosovo, and this depends on the purpose of the travel.

Tourist Visa
Business Visa
Work Visa
Where to Go
There is no Kosovar embassy or consulate here in Nigeria, but bearers of valid multiple entry Schengen visa may enter the Republic of Kosovo without having to obtain a Kosovo visa. On arrival though, if you intend staying for some time you would need to register at the Police Department for the Registration of Foreigners.

So you could acquire a Schengen visa from any of the Schengen member country’s consulate here in Nigeria such as the Austrian embassy, this will allow you entrance into the Kosovar borders.

12 PLACES TO BE IN OWERRI TOWN

Welcome to the heart of Igboland, Owerri. Owerri (/ oʊˈwɛriː/ oh- WERR -ee,Igbo : Owèrrè) is the capital of Imo State in Nigeria. It is bordered by the Otamiri River to the east and the Nworie River to the south. The Owerri Slogan is Heartland. With its high density of spacious hotels, high street casinos, production studios and high quality centers of relaxation, Owerri is a hub of activities and events for tourists. An endearing mixes of everything Igbo and the inevitability of modernization. To the heart of the matter, here are some of Owerri's sights and sounds.

1 Mbari Cultural and Art Center

Owerri is a true Igbo city and like any other it is fiercely proud of its cultural history. One place to appreciate this cultural phenomenon is the Mbari Cultural and Art Centre. It is an open space museum that carefully shelters priced artefacts of Igbo heritage. The center is divided into three sections made up of the Mbari Museum Kitchen, Mbari House and an amphitheater.

2. National Museum, Owerri

The National Museum in Owerri was established in 1988. The museum’s collection is ethnographic and it has a permanent exhibition of money and household utensils depicting the way of life of the early settlers in Owerri. It also contains some relics from the civil war.

3. Imo Palm Plantation Complex

Formerly known as Ada Palm Plantation Complex, this massive Palm Plantation Complex seats on 4,310 hectares of land Imo state. It is largest oil plantation in West Africa and the location for one of Nigeria’s economic mainstay before the discovery of oil. It was setup in 1974; with the planting of the palms trees done by Ukpabi Asika in 1976 while the first civilian governor of Imo
State, the late Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe built the mill in 1983. Here palm kernels are harvested and proceeded from start to finish to produce palm oil.

4. Owerri Amusement Park

Created for relaxation and entertainment for families, visitors and children within the Owerri community. This park has fun and games for everyone.

5. Oguta Lake

The biggest lake asides from Lake Chad in Nigeria. The lake was a port for the evacuation of palm products in the colonial era as well as a marine base for the Biafran Navy during the civil war. Referred to as Ogbuide or Uhamiri by Oguta locals, The Lake has attracted a lot of visitors and tourists over the years. Unlike most other natural lakes you will come across, the waters of Oguta are pristine, not salty and do not harbor any dangerous animals. Hence they are conducive for swimming and sightseeing. While visiting the lake, you can either go with swimming trunks or have a picnic at its bank and do some fishing. The spectacular confluence of the Blue Lake and Urashi River also is a sight to behold. The Oguta Lake is blue in color while Urashi is muddy in outlook but they never mix up. Any attempt of scooping water from one to the other will manifest a gradual separation of both, even within a container.

6. Oguta Lake Holiday Resort

Just beside the Oguta lake is the Oguta Lake Holiday Resort. The Lake Resort has one of the best facilities dedicated to hospitality in Nigeria. These includes, A Golf Course with 18 standard international holes, Relic of war constructed by the defunct Biafran Navy during Civic war, Natural confluence of Oguta Lake and Urashi River, Cruise boat services, Golf Club Bar House/ Oguta Lake Motel for refreshment, a luxury hotel for lodging and feeding as well as a recreation park

7. Nekede Zoo

The Nekede zoo is located in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state. The zoological garden established in 1976 under the State Ministry of Agriculture as an animal park. The Nekede Zoological Garden which sits on 10 hectares of reserved forest, houses a variety of animals, including lions, chimpanzees, monkeys, pythons, ostriches and crocodiles, among other animals.

8. Owerri Mall

Come over to the Owerri Mall, with its pleasant aesthetics it is a prime hang out spot within the city. Grab a movie at the cinema or burger and fries at the food court, shop for anything and everything at affordable retail stores or just come to chill with friends. There's always something for everyone at the mall.

9. Maria Assumpta Cathedral

Assumpta Cathedral is located at Villa Assumpta, Owerri, Imo State. This church was built in 1948 to serve as a place of worship for catholic people. It is notable as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. The Assumpta church became an archdiocese in May26, 1994. The Assumpta cathedral is one of the largest Catholic churches in Nigeria and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. As befitting an archdiocese its cathedral has the most magnificent of architectural details, as though the workmanship was born of the numinous.

10. Channel O Spot

This place is one of the oldest and most popular spots in Owerri. It is best known for its delicious shawarma, prepared in hygienic conditions. Probably the best place to buy sharwarma, you are guaranteed of getting your money’s worth. You can get Chicken sharwarma and also beef sharwarma. You can also include sausages or go for a mix of chicken and beef or even just extra beef, depending on your preference.

8 PLACES TO GO TO IN ENUGU STATE

Welcome to Enugu. Enugu is the capital of Enugu State in Nigeria. It is located in southeastern Nigeria. The name Enugu is derived from the two Igbo words Énú Ụ́gwụ́ meaning "hill top" denoting the city's hilly geography. The city was named after Enugwu Ngwo, under which coal was found. Popularly known as the Coal City, Enugu is home to most of the Igbo’s in the southeast. Being a city established in pre-colonial times, its ambience is a blend of the charms of an ancient city and convenience of a modern one. Here are some of its greatest sights.

1. National Museum of Unity

Established shortly after the civil war, so as to engender unity. The Enugu Museum houses a variety of relics from the Stone Age through to the postcolonial era. Military artefacts from the Biafra War can be seen at the museum. It is located just around the G.R.A environment in Enugu town. Also has a wonderful sit-out New-Berries park and garden where you could sit and have lovely delicacies and enjoy wonderful music

2. Awhum Waterfall and Cave

Surrounded by breath-taking scenery, this 30 meter high waterfall cascades through evergreen vegetation as well alive with varieties of biological species including wild animals and a wide variety of birds. Located close to a monastery, its water is believed to have therapeutic effects and curative powers. A section of the fall is warm through the season.
Awhum or Ohum waterfall is situated at Amaugwe village in Awhum town in Udi local government area, Enugu state. Although the waterfall and cave are currently under the control of our Lady of Mount Calvary Abbey, you can still get inside by asking for permission before visiting

3. Ngwo Caves, Waterfall and Pine Forest

So apparently, Enugu is filled with caves and more caves. To get to the Ngwo Cave takes you on a trek amongst the trees of the pristine Ngwo Pine Forest. The valley floor is tiled by a gently flowing stream of spring water. A narrow but high opening leads into the crevice and the loud splashing of the waters of the raging crystal clear waters announces your arrival.
The Ngwo Cave has been naturally sculpted in limestone rocks and is bedecked by an enchanting waterfall dropping down from a small opening at the roof of the cave. The fall forms a shallow pool at the cave floor and flows out as a small stream. Just behind the big mass of rock in which the cave is emplaced, there are more caves carefully tucked into the rock, some within reach and others needing a good climb to access. The water fall also has warm and hot water that comes out together from one source.
Ngwo pine forest and cave where you find the waterfall is about 20 minutes from the center of Enugu. You can take a bus from Enugu old park, there are buses going straight to Ngwo for about 200 Naira (but they take time to get filled up), the best option is to take a bus from same Old park (which is at the center of Enugu) going to New market, from there you find a lot of buses going to Ngwo. The journey is through sharp twists and turns along the slopes of Milliken hill (a very nice hiking destination). The last bus stop is your stop; the pine is just a stone throw from there.
The Ngwo pine is on two sides along the narrow pathway. Entrance to the pine is free but to getting to the waterfall is not something you can do yourself easily. You definitely need to get a local that will take you there usually for a fee (try to hassle well for a good bargain- I paid a 1000 Naira).

4. Ezeagu Tourist Complex

With a 3-kilometer cave (yes another cave), cold and warm spring, waterfall, and a pretty lake within 30 minutes’ drive of the city center. It is a great place for picnics and a swim.
A half-hour drive from the bustling capital city of Enugu State is the Ezeagu Tourist Complex. The complex exhibits one of the natural wonders of wonders of nature. Measuring about 22 hectares in size, it comprises a lake, a cave and a waterfall (spring water). Its splendor is expressed by the almost 5 kilometers long Obinofia cave whose sheer size and compartments is awe-striking.
The surrounding scape is a marriage of various land forms with unique weather condition and exotic vegetation. The cave has several tunnels branching out in different directions. Some of the tunnels are inter-connected, often opening up into large chambers which are two to three high and up to ten meters wide. It is located in Afor Ugwu area of Enugu state

5. Ugwueme and Udi Hills

Udi hills are the site of the first coal mine in Enugu, opened in 1915 but later replaced with the Iva Valley Mine in 1917. Under the Udi Hills are the coal mines, there also are tunnels for tourists to explore. Ugwueme and Udi hills are about one hundred meters above sea level and are the perfect site for picnics. Located in the Udi area of Enugu state.

6. Ani Ozalla Lake

The Ani Ozalla Lake and Shrine is a natural lake located at Amaigbo, Ozalla in Nkanu West LGA near Enugu where crocodiles which are regarded as goddesses appear from the lake at the command of the chief priest to take offerings from supplicants.

7. Polo Park Mall

Located in Enugu City, Polo Park Mall is more than your average shopping mall. With a Ferris wheel right in front, it's worth a visit. It also has the usual mall set up. Food courts, supermarkets and various shopping outlets.

8. Enugu Golf Club

Located at Mount Street, Enugu. The club has a beautiful and challenging 18 holes course with a year round season which has been become a solid attraction to guest and residents. It also contains a clubhouse and a well-stocked bar.

Goodmorning

When you get a relatively cheap fare, always ask the rules guiding the fares, so that you dont get burnt if there is sudden change of plans

If you with a student visa or permit of upward 2 years, you can purchase a one way ticket for your travel. Always remenber terms and conditions are applied too
