Thank God 4 those who are sincere enough to say the truth.
I know many 'holier than thou' guys&babes will rather comment on other people's posting than tell us what they did.

As 4 me, meat was not my line. I can do anything to get to eat moin-moin (bean cake).
I still remember one of those weird style when I drilled through the base of my siblings ration with my spoon.
They only discovered that there was hole under their moin-moin while eating.

All these where part of our growing stages but when not controlled or corrected, that may be the beginning of training a professional OLE!

only in nigeria would people prefer to label it "stealing"

feeding your child is now a luxury, not a need.

o ga.

shortage of scarce resources like food and meat.

seriously though- the same meat wey oyibo dey take make loaf like bread?

poverty is not good.

Now that's the truest yarns for here. After I don chop my rice with two or three oversized pieces, when its time to drop the plates in the sink I will still pop one more "shaki" from the pot, my own very pot.
Didn't grow up with me moms, but my step moms felt the full effects of my quick fingers, ponmo, abodi, roundabout, brokoto and all the nice accessories wey dey make my papa craze me dey pre - chop am straight from the pot. Sometimes sef I go fap am from freezer.
Re: Have You Ever "stolen" From The Cooking Pot? by touchmeder: 10:02am On Jul 18, 2010
yes classic example always comes to mind
during one festive season maybe i was 8 or 9, we spent the night at my cousins house
men the food was so sweet but when we don chop finish enter room,
i went back to the kitchen, the big pot was almost empty but i just ate from it anyway scrappingthe inside
i think i knelt over the pot,
when i was done washed my mouth and went back to be with my siblings and cousins
and as i entered the room they all roared out laughing, i didnt get it unti i looked at mysef
my dress was covered in charcoal from under the pot.

I think say na only me ooooooooooo. I asked someone this question today and she says YES. So its seem like its a childhood desease then. But nowadays, i guess its fading out cos, i cant imagine it happening to this younger generation, instead, they will steal sweet, cake etc from the fridge.

this situation is peculiar to everyone of us irrespective of our backgrounds, to some it may be something other than meat.
in my case, I TRIED SHA. back then i had a cousin who was notorious for missing meat and so when the soup goes sour or
it is discovered that the number of meat pieces had reduced drastically, all the blame would go to him and he ends up getting punished.
But he was not convinced that he was alone in the business and decided to carry out some investigation. unknown to me , i was his number
one suspect. on this particular day, i was to strike again, i had a clear signal and then moved. i got into the kitchen, i cant even remember the kind of soup sha but i removed the lid and reached for a piece . my hand was still inside the pot when i felt a strong grip on my wrist, it was my cousin-he held me in that position and called out to everyone. it was terrible and i felt really bad.
just spoke to my mom and kid brother about our escapades and its been laughter all the way. many thanks to the poster , i have been laughing my heart out for the past 30mins now.

my favourite used to be snails

i always had a fork in my pocket on weekends and the deed is usually done when i notice light traffic between the living room and the kitchen. My modus operandi usually was
^ move briskly to the kitchen and head for the fridge.
^ Look around as if im looking for something
^ as soon as the coast is clear, i run towards the pot, open it sharply, stab the thing with fork for onward delivery to my mouth

Got ma mouth burnt a couple of times
Re: Have You Ever "stolen" From The Cooking Pot? by TawaTemi1(f): 12:58pm On Jul 19, 2010
I have stolen from the cooking pot several times when I was young.

This time it wasn't from my mother's pot, it was from my fathers'!

Whenever my mum travels, my dad becomes the cook, I have 5 brothers that terrorize the house enough to give my dad heart attack. Whenever he cooks, he used to count the meat because he doesn't trust us.

After counting the meat and he stepped aside, as the lady of the house, I cut small portion of all the cooked meat in the pot and make sure the exact number is there. I then share the cut portion with my bros. After all, the meat must be complete, but in smaller sizes. wink wink wink

I remembered one day when my dad asked what happened to the meat and I told him that the meat is not good. I told him 'O ti ra mo pot' Eran yen o da at all. grin grin grin

We did that a lot but trust whenever my mum is around, we dare not try that cos she will roast us alive. She will know!

It was fun stealing from the cooking pot. grin grin
