Only the required docs go to NAIROBI. Other optional docs that support your application stay back here. This is coupled with the strict nature of NAIROBI VOs who are majorly Indian-Canadians.
THE BETTER OPTION IS GO ONLINE IN YOUR NEXT APPLICATION

Your statement in bold actually is not accurate and may be misleading. All documents in support of an application are usually forwarded and reviewed by the appropriate visa office and by extension the officer in charge. The officials at VFS are not employees of the Canadian Government neither are they privy to any information as regards the processing of an application so they do not have any obligation whatsoever to withhold documents that is in support of an application. VFS is an outsourcing and technology services specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide. The company manages visa and passport issuance-related administrative and non-discretionary tasks for its client governments.

They do not always have their client government's classified information during visa processing as this would require security clearance usually given to consular officers as they are the face of their government overseas. So VFS officials would presumably follow instructions from the Canadian embassy to guide applicants as they submit their applications and all that would increase their chances of a visa approval.

Assuming you know already, Canada has one of the most meticulous and probably one of the most highly sequestered visa processes in the world. So your "in-house" information most likely would be from what is within the public domain or atleast those of VFS officials but certainly not from the consular's office.

Lastly and just as being stated on IRCC's website, the idea of an online application or a paper application is basically for CONVENIENCE. Non weigh more or less against the other. Applicants on both platform undergo same scrutiny, review and processing. However, the only significant difference could be that an online application can be processed anywhere around the world where there is a Canadian embassy but mostly not always the case. Majority of online applications are still processed within the applicant's region or in visa offices that have previously processed applications of citizens of same country as these offices apparently would have better understand of documentation and information from that region. Irrespective of processing office, they still use the same processing time, scrutiny, review and importantly the provisions of the law used to adjudicate study permit applications.

I have read your post a couple of times and usually find it informative and insightful. I don't think you were condemned, probably some folks did not agree with what your surmised. All the same, we all should work together for the good of all.

Regards bro.

Is it possible/okay for background check and review of eligibility to be going on simultaneously? And why is dat?

I wanted to ask same question.

My eligibility review started last week Friday and my background check is still ongoing.

This is perfect spot before a decision is delivered and you will be getting a decision very soon. Once background check changes from processing to not applicable to processing again and eligibility review started, a decision is in the offings.

You are saying nonsense and the moderator of this thread should block you from dishing out wrong information! How and why will VFS drop an applicant's documents via paper route when the bag that is issued with your documents is sealed and handed to the applicant to submit at a different section of the VFS office? If VFS takes out people's documents, they will have been sued long before now! VFS is simply an outsourcing firm that handles visa application submissions, and transmits those documents to the Embassy! I have gone through the paper route twice and not a single document was dropped! Who are you that we need to know on this thread? Are you a Visa officer? Even your application can be rejected! Who even told you that the VO's at Nairobi are Indian-Canadians? Do you know any of them? Have you met any one of them? For your information I also follow an Indian thread like this and they equally have countless stories of rejections too!

There are better informed folks on this thread like frankrobbn, jnywua, mcobex etc, and when either of these folks make mistakes in the information that they pass, they admit it! Don't come here to misguide people by sharing "hear say", information!

Please house, I think there's change in the Biometric rules, if you have submitted bio in the last 10 years then you don't need to submit again. I noticed this in a friend's application. He submitted late July. Am I correct or wrong? Because also a date of previous bio was updated in her application.. please comment house

Please take it easy ooh people, this ain’t heaven. It ain’t do or die, you can still have a triumphant life without Canada. Just do your best and leave everything to God. Boss, my BP can never go high just that my case is peculiar and I am praying to God for a decision before Monday next week. My UK student visa expires on the 21st. When I get my Canada application approved, I still need to submit my passport to VFS and get it back before 21st (it could take about a week to get passport stamped. I need to leave uk on or before 21st or I would be banned from UK.

Another alternative is to renew my UK visa via masters route (already have masters admission in UK) but I have to pay a non refundable deposit of £3,500 for school fees + £150 (iHS fees) + application fee. if I take this route, UKVI would be with my passport for 15 days or I apply for priority (5 days, cost about £500 upwards) or same day visa processing (premium service) which costs about £700. If I decide to take this route and my Canada application gets approved, I would have given UK almost 2M free.

So the question on my mind all week has been , should I pack my load from UK with faith believing I will get the Canada visa or I renew my UK visa with almost 2M?

Even if I apply faith, pack my load and leave UK, I still need to submit my passport when my Canada application is approved. How will I send my passport over from Nigeria to UK and then to VFS and then collect it back (I have to physically collect it or authorise someone to do this)? Canada school resumes sept 4th.

I wish I can take these guys to court, processing time says 1 week from UK, now I am stuck. It is 5 weeks already.

I honestly do not like to involve myself into arguments like this, but I must point this out. In my GCMS note, the only documents that the visa officer mentioned that he reviewed were, my wife,s school enrollment, our bank statements, her Canada lease agreement, letter from host personal pysician, copy of marriage certificate, children's birth certificates, no apparent criminality (copy of Nigeria police report). Medical not done yet.
What ever this means! These were not the only documents I submitted in vfs! Then I asked myself, what happened to all the documents that I submitted?
I think those were the only documents that they scanned to the visa officer that was in charge of my paper application in Shanghai! At the end of the day, my visa was refused citing several reasons, including lump sum, which I explained and even added documents to back it up, unfortunately, the visa officer did not see that. God bless you as you draw your conclusion.

You can submit your passport in Nigeria or send it to UK via DHS from Nigeria and update your address after sending. My friend did the later some years back.

As per whether to renew UK visa it's your call, I know how it feels, if you have submitted medical (not upfront) then it's almost certain.

On a 2nd thought I thought the rule states that you should ensure you have at least 6 months validity in the country of your residence before applying especially if you are not a Permanent Resident or citizen of such country? Or has your application process passed 6 months?
