A former Wichita youth pastor charged with child sex crimes was sentenced Wednesday to 95 months in prison. This comes out to seven years, 11 months.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office says Chauncey Walker, 48, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.

Specifically, Walker pleaded guilty to [/b]having sex with a 15-year-old girl between 2012 and 2013 while he worked at Word of Life Church.[b] He was arrested and booked into jail last August (2017).

From the Sauk County Jail via video, 49-year old Kehinde S. Omosebi appeared in Sauk County Court Tuesday and was charged with Neglecting a Child - Consequence is Death and Neglecting a Child - Consequence is Great Bodily Harm. His wife, 48-year old Titilayo Omosebi, also arrested by police, did not appear in court yet.

A criminal complaint filed Tuesday claims Omosebi failed to provide food for his children, ages 15 and 11. Omosebi went to the Reedsburg Police Department Monday to report his 15-year-old, Ayanfe Omosebi, had died. Police say the 11-year-old was in very poor health went they went to the home. He was emaciated and had a hard time talking and walking, according to police. The criminal complaint states the younger child had to be carried out of a bedroom because he wasn't able to walk under his own strength.

Police say there was no food located in the home and no eating utensils were visible. The criminal complaint states there was no electricity in the home and they were unable to find bed sheets, pillows, clothing or personal hygiene items. Only one room had a bed. The only furniture officers found were four metal chairs in the living room all facing one another, in a square pattern, according to the complaint. Officers say Ayanfe was in one of the chairs when they first saw him.

The criminal complaint says Kehinde Omosebi told officers the last time he and his family had eaten food was on July 17. Omosebi allegedly stated they had done fasting with their children in the past, but "not for this long" and indicated to an officer they were waiting for the "Blessing from God" so they could move to Atlanta, Georgia.

The officer asked Omosebi when the fasting was supposed to end and he stated August 31, the day their son had died. The criminal complaint says the family prayed for two days per their religious beliefs and then Omosebi went to the police department to report his son's death.

"The defendant continue to believe he had done nothing wrong despite the death of his son," Assistant Sauk County District Attorney Linda Hoffman says.
Court records say padlocks were placed on the doors on the inside of the house in such a way "...someone on the inside would be confined to the home and unable to leave."

"I seen him," neighbor Heather Burnham says of Kehinde Omosebi. "Just him, nobody else."

Reedsburg Police Chief Timothy Becker says officers had contact with all four family members May 21 when they were putting religious pamphlets on cars in a grocery store parking lot. Becker says the children appeared in good health at the time.

In the criminal complaint, doctors told officers the younger son will have an extended stay in the hospital as he gets back to eating regularly and treating his malnourishment.

Officers say they also found a handwritten letter addressed to "Lawyers of Sauk County Circuit Court" from the younger son, which included the statements, [/b]"The hunger is too much. Please help me now so I may eat. I can't continue in such a life with no food"[b] and [/b]"If I don't get food now I'll probably die of hunger."[b] The letter referenced it had been five days since he and his family had eaten anything.

HEADLINE: Former Phoenix pastor gets prison for molesting underage girls!!!

A former Phoenix pastor is facing 13 years in prison and lifetime probation for several charges after being accused of sexually abusing several underage girls he knew through his church or already knew outside of the church.According to the Maricopa County Superior Court, 51-year-old Jose Vicente Morales was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to molestation of a child, sex abuse and three counts of attempted molestation of a child last month.
Morales will get credit for the two years he has served since being arrested in 2016. He was arrested in September of 2016 while a pastor at Iglesia Cristiana Impacto de Fe near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

According to court documents, the investigation started when a 17-year-old girl told her mother she was harming herself because of the sexual abuse by Morales when she was 12-year-old.

Another victim said she was sexually abused from when she was 7 years old to when she was 12 years old. Court documents said she recalled being molested by Morales when she was sleeping over at his house and then another time while she was swimming in his pool.

Court documents said Morales was also accused of impregnating a girl when she was 13 or 14 years old. He reportedly met her when she was 8 years old and got "married" when she was 10 years old.

Another victim said she was 10 or 11 years old when she was abused.

An 18-year-old victim said Morales lured her to his house and touched her inappropriately. Court documents said in another incident, Morales went to the victim's house and sexually assaulted her.

Morales admitted to the sexual relationship with the 18-year-old girl but he denied everything else. He claims the girl he married was 15 years old, not 10.

A Tri-Cities father and former pastor entangled in a child sex sting has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison.The Tri-City Herald reports 41-year-old John M. Scheline was ordered Wednesday to serve a mandatory minimum sentence of 58 months after pleading guilty this summer to attempted second-degree rape of a child. The sex crime carries a mandatory maximum life term, meaning it will be up to a state review to decide how long Scheline will stay behind bars.
Scheline was one of the 26 men arrested in a 2017 online child sex sting in the Tri-Cities area that used ads on sites such as Craigslist and Backpage.com to identify would-be predators.

He previously worked at a Pasco church and a Montana Christian center.

Then 12 years old, the Navajo girl knew that what her foster father was doing to her “three or four times a week” wasn’t right, but when she reached out for help to a local leader of the women’s Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, baá says, she was met with disbelief. Worse, she was scolded and slapped.

“Do not tell anybody,” she recounts being warned. “And you think I had fear? Oh, I had fear. You can’t believe the fear I had.” And so the abuse continued throughout that school year, until the next May, she says, when she was returned home to the Navajo Nation.
“My life was ripped apart, and to me, this all happened as if it was yesterday,” baá, now 65, told The Salt Lake Tribune.

The only remaining plaintiff from among more than a dozen who filed sex-abuse complaints against the LDS Church involving its long-abandoned Indian Student Placement Program, she spoke on condition the newspaper identify her only by her Navajo name.

Nine other plaintiffs settled with the church in August, said attorney Craig Vernon, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, who along with Billy Keeler, of Gallup, N.M., represented the former foster children. Three other cases were settled in mediation last year. All signed nondisclosure agreements.

HEADLINE: Diocese Pays Nearly $5.5M To 37 Clergy Sex Abuse Victims!!!

The Diocese of Ogdensburg has doled out millions of dollars to victims of clergy sexual abuse.

The diocese released its report Tuesday on what's called the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP).

In it, the diocese says as of last week it paid a total of nearly $5.5 million to 37 victims. Two more are considering whether to accept compensation.

“It was the right thing to do - another way of expressing our sorrow and our regret over what had happened,” said Bishop Terry LaValley.

The diocese launched the IRCP in March as "part of an on-going effort to express contrition to those who suffered sexual abuse by diocesan clergy and to help them find a sense of healing."

Officials say they were surprised by the extent of abuse.

"When the IRCP was undertaken, we did not fully grasp the extent of the abuse that occurred over the last 70 years."

The diocese says it has received 72 credible claims of abuse of minors by 27 priests. Eleven were reported to be repeat offenders.

Ten claims, officials say, were settled outside the IRCP process for a total of $750,000.
“The church, through generations here in the north country, has seen some serious sinfulness and terrible misconduct by its clergy," said Bishop LaValley.;

Diocesan officials say there has been no reported abuse for 20 years, which "gives us hope that the safe environment efforts we have undertaken are effective."

The diocese says it's not using any money donated by parishioners to pay the claims, but is instead using loans and lines of credit.

The diocese is now considering possibly revealing the names of clergy accused of sexual abuse. That would go against its long-standing policy.

“I want to be fair and I want to make sure that I'm just toward all involved,” said Bishop LaValley.

All Catholic dioceses in the state are under investigation by New York's Attorney General. Ogdensburg and other dioceses have had records subpoenaed. Bishop LaValley said they are cooperating.

When Seo-Yeon Lee came home to Seoul from the Pennsylvania college she was attending, she found out her mother was suffering from the early stages of uterine cancer — and that she was refusing treatment.

Lee says her mom, Eun Jae Jeong, had become distrustful of medicine and feared doctors would inject her with a tracking chip — something she’d heard about at her new church.
Lee’s father died of cancer in 2009, so it upset her to see her mother being so cavalier with her diagnosis. It had been four years since his death, and Lee noticed that despite her diagnosis, her mother was happier than she’d been since her husband died. She suddenly had many new friends through a new church she joined.
Lee was afraid to lose another parent to cancer, so she made her mother promise to go to the doctor, then the 21-year-old went back to her studies in the U.S.

But Jeong didn’t follow through on that promise. Lee discovered in mid-2014 that although her mother had steadfastly been attending church, she was avoiding her doctor.

Widespread public shock followed the recent release of the Pennsylvania grand jury report that identified more than 1,000 child victims of clergy sexual abuse. In fact, as I know through my research, the Vatican and its American bishops have known about the problem of priestly pedophilia since at least the 1950s. And the Church has consistently silenced would-be whistleblowers from within its own ranks.

In the memory of many Americans, the only comparable scandal was in Massachusetts, where, in 2002, the Boston Globe published more than 600 articles about abuses under the administration of Cardinal Bernard Law. That investigation was immortalized in the 2015 award-winning film, “Spotlight.”

What many Americans don’t remember, however, are other similar scandals, some even more dramatic and national in scope.
While the problem of priestly pedophilia might be centuries old, the modern paper trail began only after World War II, when “treatment centers” appeared for rehabilitating abusive priests. Instead of increased transparency, bishops, at the same time, developed methods for denying and hiding allegations of child sexual abuse.

During the 1950s and 1960s, bishops from around the U.S. began referring abusive priests to church-run medical centers, so that they could receive evaluation and care without disclosing their crimes to independent clinicians.

Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald, who began his ministry in Boston and Quebec, was among those who advocated prayer over medicine. In 1947, Fitzgerald moved to New Mexico and founded the Servants of the Paraclete, a new order of Catholic priests devoted to healing deviant clergy. His belief in faith healing reflected a vocal minority of Catholic leaders who still viewed psychology as a threat to Christian faith..............

“Giuseppe” was born to impoverished parents outside of Verona in northern Italy with a congenital birth defect that left him deaf and mute. When it became clear that his parents could not provide for him—much less communicate with him—they brought him to the local Catholic church, which enrolled him in their Antonio Provolo Institute for deaf and mute children. It was here he learned to communicate through standard sign language and other visual cues. It was also where he became one of scores of victims of the priests and religious brothers who ran the school.

When he was 11, a monk who worked at the institute as an educator started teaching “special secret signs” for things like masturbation, MouthAction, penis, and anus. “I didn’t understand at first just why this man was teaching me these strange secret signs,” Giuseppe explained in an exclusive, and very emotional, interview in Rome. [/b]“Then one day it became very clear when one of the priests made the secret sign for MouthAction when we were alone, which was followed by him pushing his erect penis into my mouth.”[b]

From that point on, Giuseppe said through his interpreter—often using fast and somewhat violent sign language as tears ran down his face—priests and the brothers would give a sign to the young boys and then take them to special rooms Giuseppe says were used for “time out” punishments or as resting areas. He said that because everyone was deaf at the school except those who worked there, no one could hear the screams and cries of the young boys when the abuse took place. Giuseppe said that on several occasions he and others tried to write down what was happening, but because their letters and notes were given to the priests and brothers to be mailed out, they were likely intercepted.
“Of course we screamed and cried,” he said. [/b]“Sometimes you would see priests coming into the dormitory at night, or you would see friends with tears rolling down their faces and you knew exactly what had just happened. You didn’t need to hear to know.”[b]

The abuse against Giuseppe allegedly lasted for seven full years, until he turned 18 and left the institution. Whenever he tried to explain what was happening to him inside the school, no one understood because the language he had been taught to describe the sexual acts was incomprehensible to sign-language readers. “It was so frustrating that no one understood what we said,” Giuseppe explained, adding that even after he left the institution and lived in another Catholic charity house, he had a difficult time making anyone understand what had happened. “It took a long time for us to be believed.”

Giuseppe is one of 67 young boys who have been named in court documents and were allegedly abused by more than two dozen priests and brothers at the Provolo Institute, according to Verona prosecutors who have been investigating the allegations for nearly a decade and who plan to bring it to trial later this year..................................................

HEADLINE: San Jose priest, registered sex offender, faces new molestation charges !!!

A Roman Catholic priest, identified publicly for the first time this week as a convicted sex offender who abused a child 35 years ago while in the San Jose Diocese, is in Santa Clara County jail facing additional child molestation charges.

[/b]Hernan Toro, one of 15 priests named by the diocese Thursday as credibly accused of sexually abusing children at parishes across the diocese over several decades, was first accused of sexual misconduct while at Our Lady Star of the Sea parish in Alviso in 1983.[b] He was convicted and registered as a sex offender that year but went on to serve at several South Bay parishes, eventually retiring in 1990 when he was permanently banned from the ministry.

Jail records show Toro, now 90, has been held at the main jail since October 2017. He faces six counts of child molestation, according to a spokesman for the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

The diocese, which incorrectly listed Toro’s current whereabouts as San Leandro in its report, said it wasn’t aware of the most recent charges against him until Friday afternoon.

“Bishop McGrath is saddened and infuriated that additional innocent children are the recent victims of horrific acts by Hernan Toro,” the diocese said in a statement Saturday.

When asked why Toro was allowed to serve at several parishes even after his 1983 conviction, diocese spokeswoman Liz Sullivan said sexual misconduct cases were “handled differently based on the clinical psychological standards at the time of their convictions.”
The decision to keep him in the ministry was made before the Catholic church put in place safeguards to protect children and get rid of bad priests with a 2002 policy known as the Dallas Charter, she said.

“We now know, based on the current psychological best practices, that returning these men to ministry was a misguided attempt at rehabilitation,” Sullivan added.

San Jose became the first diocese in the Bay Area to reveal the names of its abusive priests in an effort to renew the trust of parishioners, with Oakland promising to do so soon and the Archdiocese of San Francisco still considering a similar move.

The disclosure showed that at least two of the priests — Toro and Leonel Noia — were returned to ministry after being criminally convicted of abuse. Noia, convicted and jailed in 1976, later was assigned to St. Julie Billiart, St. Anthony and Five Wounds parishes in San Jose. Toro was assigned afterward to St. Athanasius in Mountain View, St. Catherine in Morgan Hill and St. Aloysius in Palo Alto. Those moves happened before McGrath’s tenure, and the diocese had no further comment Thursday. Two others — Robert Gray and Angel Mariano — also were convicted of sex crimes.

Many dioceses across the country have rolled out a series of efforts to reassure the faithful in the wake of a scathing August report by Pennsylvania authorities that detailed extensive efforts by the church to cover up decades of abuse involving hundreds of priests and children. The Justice Department has opened an investigation into the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania and has subpoenaed seven of the eight dioceses in the state, according to news reports.

Joey Piscitelli, a Northern California leader for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests or SNAP, alleges he was abused repeatedly by the Rev. Steve Whelan in 1969-1970 and won a lawsuit against the priest in the late 2000s. He’s traveled to churches across the state for 15 years protesting clergy abuse and says he often gets asked why he goes after priests who, like Toro, are approaching their last years.

[/b]Some of these guys do not stop until they die,” he said. “That’s why they need to be outed.[b] And that’s why we need to tell people where they are if you want to keep people safe. It doesn’t matter if he’s 30, 40, 50 or 80.”

A former Savannah-area Catholic priest has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for [/b]repeatedly sexually assaulting two boys under the age of 14[b] at different locations in Jasper County between 1978 and 1988, according to a 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office news release.

Wayland Y. Brown, 76, pleaded guilty Tuesday to nine counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, the release said.

The assaults took place when Brown — then a priest at St. James Catholic School in Savannah — took the two students to Jasper County on separate occasions and sexually assaulted them, The Island Packet previously reported. [/b]The victims were between ages 11 and 13 at the time of the assaults, the release said.[b]
The victims said Brown wore his priest’s collar during the assaults and prayed the rosary afterward, according to the release.
The incidents took place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hardeeville, the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge in Jasper County and a train depot in Hardeeville, the release said............................

HEADLINE: YOUTH MINISTER FOUND GUILTY F EXPOSING HIMSELF!!!

A former youth minister was found guilty of exposing himself and corruption of a minor in Fayette County Wednesday.

Clyde Brothers, 68, of Connellsville Township, remains free on bond while he awaits sentencing. Brothers was charged in March 2017 after admitting to other members of his church that he touched several children.

His sister, Ellen Brown, also of Connellsville, says she was always nervous about Brothers' involvement in their children's camp, so she went to other church members with her concerns.

"I was afraid of the camp closing because of him and that's why I had to say something," Brown said. "I didn't have any facts or proof, but I just never trusted him."
Brothers admitted to the abuse and identified four victims. Only one victim testified in court.

"My concern is for the lives that he's destroyed," Brown said. "I just hope the other boys see this and come forward and get the help that they need."

The ex-priest of a Ukrainian Orthodox church in Humboldt Park has been charged with swindling an elderly parishioner who survived a Nazi internment camp out of about $350,000.

Nicholas Chervyatiuk faces felony counts of theft and financial exploitation of an elderly person with a disability, according to Cook County court records.

The 57-year-old formerly led Holy Patronage Church, 900 N. Washtenaw Ave., where 96-year-old Nelly Bridgeman attended service and worked for years as a secretary, according to Cook County Public Guardian Charles Golbert.
In 2015, Chervyatiuk assumed power of attorney for Bridgeman, who suffers from dementia and came to the United States as a refugee from Ukraine after being detained in a Nazi internment camp, Golbert said.

As the priest began funneling money from her savings into his own accounts, bank employees grew suspicious and notified the public guardian’s office, which filed suit against Chervyatiuk in 2016 to recover Bridgeman’s money, Golbert said.

Chervyatiuk, who was barred from the church after the allegations surfaced, has denied any wrongdoing, saying he considered it payment for the care he provided her, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“I think it was time for me to get paid . . . Nelly wanted it that way,” the newspaper quoted him as testifying.
He eventually agreed to pay most of the money back, and now makes periodic payments after handing over a lump sum of more than $200,000 that is supporting Bridgeman’s care at a suburban nursing home, according to Golbert.

The public guardian said Bridgeman has understood the case “in a vague way,” and that she was pleased with the criminal charges.

“She said she was glad that he would not be able to do this to anybody else,” Golbert said. “Getting a financial recovery is very satisfying. Complete justice requires criminal sanctions as well. We’re at the first step of that happening.”

Chervyatiuk was jailed on $5,000 bail at a Thursday hearing, court records show. He remained in custody as of Thursday night and will have to surrender his passport if he bonds out.

Golbert said financial exploitation of the elderly is “hugely on the rise” in Cook County, making up about 40 percent of his office’s new cases.

“The people who break that trust need to know that if you do this, you’re going to have to pay the person back civilly, and you’re going to go to jail,” he said.

A Surrey pastor and his son, along with a White Rock man, defrauded investors out of $450,000 in a real estate investment scheme, says the B.C. Securities Commission.

A BCSC panel has found that Alan and Jerry Braun, and Steven Maxwell (a.k.a. Steven Fassman), committed fraud when they took the money from two backers that believed they were investing in real estate in Edmonton.

Braun was a pastor at the Royal Heights Baptist Church in Delta, but left earlier this year.
The panel also made fraud findings against three companies, Braun Developments, TerraCorp Investment Ltd., and Canada Inc.

The panel also found that Braun Developments and Canada Inc. committed fraud with respect to the three investments in the amount of $450,000, and TerraCorp Investment committed fraud of $300,000.

The BCSC says Alan and Jerry Braun, both directors and officers of Braun Developments and TerraCorp Investment, were responsible for directing the affairs of both entities. Maxwell was a director of Canada Inc. and was responsible for its affairs.

The three men deceived the investors by leading them to believe that they were purchasing real estate investments in Edmonton that would yield 50 per cent returns in a short period, according to the BCSC.

But the BCSC found they did not use the money to invest in real estate. Instead, they used the investors’ money for other purposes, including for their own personal living expenses.

Sanctions against the Brauns and Maxwell will be determined at a later date.

A Kent County couple charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the starvation death of their 10-month-old daughter didn't seek medical help partly for religious reasons, court records show.

Seth Welch and his wife, Tatiana Fusari, both 27, were formally charged Monday in Thursday's death of Mary Anne Welch.

An autopsy determined the baby died of malnutrition and dehydration.

Kent County Sheriff's detectives interviewed both parents.

"During interviews with both parents, admissions were made that they were aware of Mary Welch's skinny appearance and low weight for at least one month prior to this date," according to an affidavit signed by a detective.

"Tatiana Fusari admitted during the interview that they failed to reach out for medical help with their daughter for [/b]fear of having her children removed by Child Protective Services, lack of faith and trust in the medical services and religious reasons,"[b] the affidavit states.

Deputies say the father called 911 just after noon on Thursday to report his daughter was found dead in her crib at their home on Algoma Avenue NE near 20 Mile Road in Solon Township.

The couple was raising three young children and ran Blackacre Farm Products at their home.

At the home, Seth Welch displayed his faith on [/b]handpainted signs nailed to trees and on the fence out front. "Repent. Believe. Obey," one message painted in white reads.[b]
CPS, their distrust of doctors and their religious beliefs have been topics of some of Seth Welch's rambling videos on Facebook.

On doctors: [/b]"They're priesthoods of the medical cult,"[b] he said.

On vaccines: [/b]"The righteous shall live by faith. It's God who is sovereign over disease and those sorts of things and, of course, ultimately deaths."[b]

He says someone called CPS about him when he at first refused to get his oldest daughter vaccinated, and that he didn't get his other two kids, including Mary, vaccinated.

"It didn't seem smart that you would be saving people who weren't the fittest," he said in one video. "If evolution believes in survival of the fittest, why are we vaccinating everybody? Shouldn't we just let the weak die off and let the strong survive?"

He also spoke against wordly things.

"I would love to see a commune of Christian disciples living off the grid somewhere, and just living free," he said.

On Monday, CPS filed a neglect case against the parents involving their two older children, ages 4 and 2, who were staying at his parent's home in West Olive.

On Facebook, Welch recently wrote that his wife is pregnant with their fourth child.

The principal of a prestigious private boys' school at the centre of a criminal investigation said Sunday he held off on promptly informing police about an alleged sexual assault involving students on campus because the victim hadn't yet told his family about the incident.

Greg Reeves, the principal of St. Michael's College School, said he received a "horrific" video of the alleged incident on Monday night, but did not inform police until Wednesday morning.

"I assisted him in telling his parents and the following morning -- because of my priority in caring for the victim -- I shared the video with police," Reeves said in an interview Sunday evening.
Toronto police have said they first heard about the video of the alleged sexual assault at St. Michael's from the media on Wednesday and immediately contacted the school.
Police sources have said the incident -- one of several under investigation -- involved a group of students on the football team pinning down another student in a locker room and allegedly sexually assaulting him with a broom handle.

Those sources have said a previous incident in a washroom involved members of the basketball tea[left][/left]m bullying a student and soaking him with water.

The Roman Catholic school, which teaches grades 7 through 12, has said eight students have been expelled and another was suspended after internal investigations into both cases. On Friday, the school said it had also reported a third incident.................

Polish Catholic bishops apologised Monday to children who had suffered sexual abuse at the hands of priests and other Church leaders in the majority Catholic country.

"We ask pardon of God, of all victims of sexual abuse, of their families, and of the entire Church community for all hurt inflicted on children and young people, as well as their families, by priests, believers, and lay people employed by the Church," the bishops said in a statement after a meeting in southern Poland.

"For the victims, these crimes are a source of profound suffering that marks their lives, those of their families, and of religious communities," they added.

For many, "it put a strain on their faith".

The statement came three weeks after the release of the film "Kler" (The Clergy) about abuse and corruption in the Catholic Church. The movie drew close to two million spectators in Poland in a week -- a record in the country of 38 million.

The Polish Catholic Church apologised four years ago for crimes of paedophilia committed by its members.

The Catholic Church worldwide is battling a paedophilia scandal following abuse revelations in numerous countries, accompanied by accusations that the leadership has dragged its feet in delivering an adequate response.

Earlier Monday, Spain's Catholic Church said it wanted to "eradicate" sexual abuse of minors and not cover them up.

Happy Halloween! Here’s something scary: A pastor/teacher in the state of Washington was charged and arrested in connection with a trove of inappropriate videos featuring students and faculty.
Stephen Clark Brown, a 61-year-old man who served as a coach, minister, and educator at Arlington Christian School, allegedly shot hundreds of videos zooming in on breasts and other private parts of kids and teachers alike… all the more disturbing because this school has preschool, elementary, middle, and high school classes.

A student had reportedly found a USB drive containing the video in the school’s parking lot Oct. 24. After reviewing the files, the thumb drive was handed over to school authorities, who contacted the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Many of the videos didn’t meet the level of a crime, court papers say. However, they did reveal “a repeated pattern and practice of Brown secretly recording videos of women” on campus.

The three videos depicted the student sitting in a classroom, wearing a mid-thigh skirt and black nylons, court papers say.

The person filming appears to be trying to get a view up the student’s skirt, detectives wrote. With each progressive video, the suspect moves closer to the victim, from about 12 feet to 2 feet. The angle of the camera gets lower and lower.
In the last video, the phone is apparently being held under a desk, documents say.

“There is no reaction from (the victim), indicating she has no knowledge the camera is pointed in a direction up her skirt,” the report states.

It’s not just extremely appropriate for an adult male; this is a religious authority figure! Parents trust him with their children! He’s supposed to uphold a divine moral code, and drive kids in that same direction, and instead he’s exploiting them sexually. I know that’s not surprising considering the current state of affairs, but it’s still messed up and illegal.

The clips also reportedly show partial and even full views of Brown’s face as he filmed, so he won’t be able plead ignorance here. Perhaps even worse is the fact that prosecutors think there are more victims.

The county prosecutor says he fears there could be dozens more victims…

In probable cause court documents, investigators say the videos were taken on the suspect’s iPhone 7. It depicts zoomed in videos of the breasts, buttocks and genitals of female students and staff. The prosecutor says those videos lead investigators to nearly 450 disks of other videos which investigators think will contain even more voyeurism victims.

“And with this on-going pattern,” Johnson said to the presiding judge at the preliminary hearing, “I’m concerned that there are a number of victims may have been violated in this school or church setting.”

Brown is currently in jail, and he has been fired from his position at the school, but I doubt we’ve heard the last of this case. If there are more updates, though, they may involve the discovery of more videos. Frightening stuff.

he founder of the Church at Carson City — a church recently vandalized with the spray-painted word "cult" — molested children decades ago, according to a report obtained by Target 8.

A church leader several years ago revealed that to sheriff's detectives, saying he believed it was never reported.

Former church members interviewed by Target 8 say that was only the beginning of unreported allegations of sexual abuse involving church-goers.

More than a dozen ex-church members told Target 8 they want others to know what happens at the Church at Carson City — shunning that breaks up families, beatings of children and alleged sex crimes they say have gone unreported for decades.

Those former members say they believe the church is a cult — something church leaders deny.
Jessica Moser and her family grew up in the Church at Carson City, located at the end of a long drive on the outskirts of town.

She said she was 7 years old when a church member named Tim Crater started molesting her in the 1980s. She said it went on for two years.

"My mom would be in the kitchen cooking and he'd sit on the sofa with us, and he would put his hands up our skirts or down our skirt," Moser said.

She said it also happened in the backseat of the family's car.

Moser said she told her mom only after a young relative told her Crater was molesting her, too.

Moser said her mom reported it to then-church leader Bill Hubler Sr. in 1985.

"I had to recount my story to the pastor of our church. So he listens and he leaves, and I don't hear anything for about a week," Moser said.

Then her mom sat her down.

“‘I want to let you know that Tim Crater has been kicked out of the church, and you'll never see him in church again,’" Moser recounted her mother saying. "‘He's not allowed to ever come back.’ And that was the end."
She said the police were never called.

"For them (the church), kicking people out is the absolute worst sentence they could give to somebody. To them, that's superior over everything," she said.

Including going to police.

"They handle things themselves," Moser said.

In 2004, 19 years later, Crater was convicted of raping one of his 6-year-old relatives in Kent County. As a first-time offender, he got 51 months in prison.

"I put that on the church because that's something that could have been hopefully stopped," Moser said. "He would have had a chance to have justice served and him behind bars and not affecting another girl."

Crater is now on the sex offender registry and living in Greenville. He refused to talk to Target 8 other than to say he left church in 1985.

A lawyer for the Church at Carson City told Target 8 that church leaders deny Moser's allegations, though they confirmed Crater was a member there until 1985....................................

A defrocked Roman Catholic priest who was a central figure in the clergy abuse scandal that rocked the Archdiocese of Boston was convicted Thursday of sexually abusing another boy.

Ronald Paquin, who was released from prison in 2015, was convicted of assaulting a boy in the 1980s in Kennebunkport, Maine.
The victim, now an adult, told reporters after the verdict that Paquin was "pure evil," thanking jurors for doing "the right thing."

Two men testified Paquin befriended them as boys at a parish in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and invited them on trips that included visits to Kennebunkport, Maine. They said he gave them alcohol, and let them drive his car without a license. One of them testified he was drugged.

Both said Paquin repeatedly assaulted them, but the jury reached a guilty verdict on counts involving only one of the victims. In the end, Paquin was convicted of 11 of the 24 counts against him.

David Clohessy, former national director of the Survivor's Network of those Abused by Priests, said the conviction was "long overdue."

"I feel sad that one of the victims was disbelieved, and that must hurt. But overall, kids will be safer, and hopefully, victims of other predators will feel inspired to come forward and report their abuse," he said.

In court, Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Heimbach told jurors this case "is about a priest who planned, plied and perpetrated."..........

Nearly five months after being found guilty of rape and attempted murder, a Merced ex-pastor was sentenced on Tuesday to 149 years to life in prison.

Raul Diaz Moreno, who once led the Victory Outreach church in Merced, was sentenced to multiple life sentences for convictions on three attempted murders and three sex crimes, among other counts, by Merced County Superior Court Judge Ronald W. Hansen.

The 54-year-old did not speak during the hearing, where he appeared in yellow prison-issued clothes. Diaz Moreno was found guilty in July but filed a motion for more time, saying he planned to ask for a new trial.
His defense attorney, Douglas Foster, said in open court that it would be “an exercise in futility” to ask the court to overturn its own process by asking for a new trial. Diaz Moreno’s previous attorney alleged discrepancies in how the jury filled out verdict paperwork, as well as changes the attorney said were made to a verdict sheet by the judge.

Foster said he did not find any instructional error by the court, and declined to seek a new trial.

Diaz Moreno on Oct. 28, 2016, shot one of his adopted daughters in the head and the other in the leg outside his home on Beckman Way in Merced, according to Merced Police Department.
He shot another man who was helping the young women. Plus, he fired at officers after they responded to the home, police reported...........

A former Ruffin pastor and private school principal will spend a minimum of 25 years in prison without the chance of parole after pleading guilty to performing inappropriate sex acts and sending a dozen nude pictures to one of his minor female students who was also a member of his congregation.

Kevin Scott Heffner, 48, of Pelham, was sentenced in the aggravated range Thursday in Rockingham County Superior Court by Guilford County Superior Court Judge William Wood.

The judge found Heffner, the former pastor of Victory Baptist Church and former principal of the Victory Academy in Ruffin, guilty of two felony B1 counts of statutory sex offense with a child under 15 and 12 counts of felony disseminating obscene material to a minor.

The victim was 14 and 15 years old during the time Heffner committed the crimes that took place February through August.
Rockingham County Assistant District Attorney Michelle Alcon said there were a dozen nude photographs of Heffner in various poses, many of which reveal his identifying tattoo of a Star of David.

As Wood delivered the sentence, a gaunt Heffner, clad in a tan county jail uniform worn over thermal underwear, [/b]clutched his Bible and bowed his head.[b] His mother Connie Heffner, 79, of Greensboro, along with his daughter Whitney Heffner, 21, cried quietly from the second row in the courtroom, while his wife, Angie Heffner, stared straight ahead.

Just before he was sentenced, Heffner told Wood that he accepted full responsibility for his actions and asked the judge for leniency in sentencing. Earlier in the proceeding when asked by Wood if he accepted and understood the plea agreement, Heffner said, shaking his head, “I don’t want (victim’s name) to have to go to trial.”......................................

A Hindu temple in Kentucky was vandalized with painted crosses and Christian hate speech targeting Hindus.
A 17-year-old white male is under arrest as a suspect in the religiously motivated act of vandalism. He was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary.

The break-in at Swaminarayan Temple was reported Tuesday morning. Temple members found their place of worship desecrated with what police said were hate-filled religious phrases and black crosses. A knife had been stabbed into a chair and several doors were broken down, police said.

It’s only the latest act of hate against a religious minority in this country at a time, suggesting that religious freedom for all is nothing more than religious supremacy for some. If this culprit was trying to put fear into the Hindu worshipers, though, it didn’t work.

Temple spokesman Rajesh Patel said Friday that temple members were shaken up by the vandalism, especially when they saw a poster of their deity covered with paint.

“When you go and touch what’s sacred to us, that got people shaken up,” Patel said.

“Do we let a hate crime take over our lives or do we move forward? We will be back in service Sunday and we will be even stronger and even closer than before,” said Patel. “And we will educate our children, that this wasn’t an attack by a religion, but an attack by an individual.”

It’s a generous (and accurate) statement to remind everyone that one bad Christian doesn’t represent the entire faith, especially when religious minorities are all too often defined by their worst actors. Fortunately, even the most outspoken Christian politicians are standing behind the temple. Gov. Matt Bevin, who has received plenty of criticism on this site for his attempts to legislate his faith, called the act “reprehensible and inexcusable.”

Donald Trump’s spiritual adviser has suggested that people send her money in order to transform their lives, or face divine consequences.

Paula White, who heads up the president’s evangelical advisory committee, suggested making a donation to her ministries to honor the religious principle of “first fruit,” which she said is the idea that all firsts belong to God, including the first harvest and, apparently, the first month of your salary.

"Right now I want you to click on that button, and I want you to honor God with his first fruits offering,” she said in a video shared to her website, in which she encourages her followers to donate to her ministries to get blessings from God.

“If God doesn’t divinely step in and intervene, I don’t know what you’re going to face—he does,” she said.
Explaining the principle of the donations, the Pentecostal televangelist, who has recently spoken out in defense of Trump’s mental health following claims in a tell-all book that the president is unwell, suggested that people would reap rewards after donating to her.

“January is the beginning of a new year for us in the Western world. Let us give to God what belongs to him: the first hours of our day, the first month of the year, the first of our increase, the first in every area of our life. It’s devoted.... The principle of first fruits is that when you give God the first, he governs the rest and redeems in,” she said.

"When you honor this principle, it provides the foundation and structure for God’s blessings and promises in your life.
