Hello Nairalanders , i am a newbie here though i have been following this forum for the past 12 months.

My name is Jerry, i'm in my 20s and i stumbled upon this forum at a painful point in my life. Coming here to read threads was like therapy, especially reading threads about stories that was similar to why i was at that point, a heartbreak because i was broke. (i'm well over it now smiley)
To the point: alot of times i come on the romance section and i often see threads of with same phrases being thrown around around, phrases like "broke lazy guys" "goldiggers" "olosho" "materialistic girls". Always the guys vs the ladies lol. Well this is what i think of this issue. Back than it was quite easier for a man to take care of his lady then, the needs and wants of our women were not as excessive, exorbitant and frivolous as they are now. I can date a girl and take care of a girl's basic needs but when it it goes beyond basic to things like iphone X, hairs of upto 100-300k, make up kits and other vain items i begin to feel a type of way towards her no matter how much love is involved not because i am poor no, far from that but because i would think if she loves me she wouldn't want me spending that much if you try explaining to some ladies they label you stingy, meanwhile some of these ladies barely spend from their own pockets on their guys. Further more the emphasis placed on material benefits when dating a guy over other qualities is alarming too, you hear phrases like "money na fine bobo"
What i discovered is that guys should date a Working class lady. From my experience its better, its not perfect and they still demand but you'll willingly do stuff for them and if you cant meet their needs at some point due to financial constraints they can handle themselves and most likely wont nag, most working class ladies have a different mindset than the non-working ones. Guys if you are single and not earning, dont look to date, na only frustration except you meet an exceptional girl you cant blame these ladies, we all have our standards. Work and become great, when you become great, look for a great working class lady at chevron.
My humble opinion. I am also open to making friends on this forum.

I share your view to an extent.. That was how my girlfriend was arguing with me that it is a guy's right and responsibility to take of their girlfriend. I told her frankly that only if she becomes my wife I take it as my responsibility or right to take care of her. Whatever I do for her is strictly out of love or willingness and not responsibility.

Well, I still blame guys for this type of mentality exhibited by our ladies.
