who knows you might be one multi billionaire who's looking for ways to spend money, lol just kidding
I just don't like leaving my roots

I wish I was...... When the root is still healthy, but the leafs, fruits and branches are dying.......

It would be a healthy option for the root to uproot itself and transplant itself within a healthy soil.......

You get my drift?

True, but there is no place like home, even if it's a barren desert, I just don't see myself settling down anywhere else, just feels weird grin

Na so. They think it is that easy. All the gra gra of getting a visa alone will discourage many. How about my church member who was a doctor in Nigeria? The guy sold his house and traveled to the US with his family over 16 years ago, only to hear that he has given up on his dream of practicing as a medical doctor in the states and has settled for menial jobs like nursing assistant. People are lured by the nice salary doctors earn overseas like how some doctors earn over $200,000 a year and with specialty that number balloons to over $300,000. What they don't realize is how difficult it is to get residency. So many American trained medical students are even finding it difficult to get residency let alone foreigners. Moreover, they sometimes require them to take some other exams or fufill a course requirement which many fail to accomplish.

If these doctors are threatening to leave the country, they should let them, after all, there are many students praying to gain admission for medicine to replace them.
How many do they give admission?

Kolewerk!
PLAB, USMLE and other foreign exams on point.

Nigeria doesn't need medical doctors.
After all nobody even appreciates them.
Patients and other health workers including cleaners are fighting them.

I implore every medical doctor to gather resources and leave this country...
God bless you.
I am a lawyer and I am on my way out already.
See you in paradise

Let them go now, we have native doctors.
They will take over the mantle of health sectors.
On a serious note thanks almighty God for my health, I can't even remember when last I took injection.
Oh I remember that 21 years ago, during children immunizations.
Glory to God for my health..

in Nigeria, a fresh medical graduate earns more than a government teacher with up to 15years experience.
Yet they want more pay,
They want to be paid in millions of naira as if they are the only profession in the country.
How can they be comparing what foreign countries pay their doctors to what Nigeria pay, have they considered the economy of both.
Doctors in Nigeria are paid well when compared to other professions,
They should stop being greedy.
If you want to leave, you leave and stop trying to blackmail the federal government.
You are not the only profession being sought after abroad, There are high shortage of nurses abroad,
Nurses are sought after,
Physiotherapists are sought after
As long as a person is a graduate and leave the country, you will find a job abroad.
So stop the leaving noise.
Soldiers are risking their lives everyday yet are paid peanut
Same with police officers
What about teachers
Ministry civil servants etc
Yet you want government to pay you millions a month for treating malaria and typhoid
Why always compare doctors salary with others, compare the salary of a newly employed RN or Bnsc nurse with a teacher of 15 years and see the difference. Even the admin staff in the health sector is paid more than his colleagues in other ministries.
Stop the insults

NHS groups welcome immigration change for doctors and nurses
BBC, 14 June 2018

NHS groups have welcomed the decision to relax immigration rules to allow more doctors and nurses from outside the EU into the UK.

The Home Office said foreign medics would be excluded from the government's cap on skilled migration.

NHS bosses said it would be a "huge relief" to health trusts while Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said it was "extremely welcome".

The cap sets the limit for all non-EU skilled workers at 20,700 a year.

It was introduced by Theresa May when she was home secretary but has prompted warnings it makes it hard to fill vacancies in the NHS.

Labour described the move as a "welcome U-turn" while the Royal College of GPs said it was a "great step forward".

But an immigration pressure group said the UK should train its own medics and not "raid other countries".

NHS England had 35,000 nurse vacancies and nearly 10,000 doctor posts unfilled in February, according to an NHS Improvement report.

According to think tank Global Future, 12.5% of NHS England's staff are from overseas. That number rises to 45% in certain specialities including paediatric cardiologists and neurosurgeons.

The current annual cap on these visas has also led to over 1,000 IT specialists and engineers being denied visas.

The proposed change will only apply to doctors and nurses - but the government said it would free up hundreds of visas a month for workers in other industries like IT and teaching.

Btw 15-30mil yearly.

Ps: By experience. It can go above that or below.
Well not bad compared to Nigeria but compared to a fresh new doctor in America that too little to start as a doctor.
Problem with Nigeria how our system being run not how it's setup because if previous govt made a system mistake the new govt will make efforts to correct it but as it is our people lack the intellect to learn and make corrections from our past mistakes

Not bad but when compared to a US newbie doctor's annual earning, that's chicken change. But u know as u make ur bed so shall u lie. We Africans, we don't plan our most system and institutions well for the sake of posterity that's why we're suffering. We lack patience and most of are 2 selfish to care about others

You don't have to buy coffee from Costa (take yours) + loads of options to watch movies free + loads of free parking available.

One can easily minimise paying out unnecessarily. Don't break any traffic laws, and no PCN's would be posted out to you.....

Any doctor that wants to go can go Biko they won't be missed. There are tens of thousands of young brilliant doctors that are waiting to take their positions.

Majority of Nigerians nearly 85% only suffer typhoid n malaria in d last 10yrs n kws d drug to take n don't need a doctor. Besides d church is available for divine healing.

Let them go to hell, they won't be missed. We won't notice their absence.

The hospital wards are filled with Burn victims, accident victims, snake bites, TB, cholera, severe salmonella infections, broken bones, appendectomy patients, hernia, pneumonia, infant care...heck even the hundreds of thousands of Nigerian women that have difficult pregnancies yearly.

But @divinelove from Ikorodu thinks that Malaria and Typhoid are the only health issues most Nigerians will ever face.

Laughable.

The cost medical training is cheaper in Nigeria and several thousands of doctors graduate yearly from medical school. We even have more doctors than we need.

When people hear US, UK them feel its heaven. Their is a joke in N.Y that the best place to have a heart attack is in a cab.

So many qualified medical doctors and surgeons are cab drivers, Canada is the most painful, they happily let you into the country but you would be shovelling sh|it forever.

Worst thing that is limiting the progress of African institutions is that most people in Africa think that oyinbo thing always dey better than our own African creations even when it's obvious that some of our own things dey better. That's why we keep devaluing our own institutions and refuse to invest in them to take them to the next level. Eg, how much do our universities get for medical and tech research from naija companies and govt? Am sure very meagre funding is the reality but compare the research funding that western universities like MIT get for their own research efforts, u can see that it runs into billions of dollars annually. Any economy that is based on discovering and selling knowledge in today's world will struggle and is heading towards doom. All the restructuring conversation is been about how share the oil money amongst states in naija but the real discussion should mainly be about how to reallocate that oil money to HEAVILY fund naija and African universities for medical and hi-tech research and develolment. I know we produce some of the best professors in all science fields that are being poached by westerners but if we can provide them with all they need to do their work, why do they need to run away from africa?

We just have change our attitude about how we see our own things to push us forward
