Good morning all,
I recently sent a prof. at cleveland state university an email for an opening in his lab but he did not response. Just today I saw an email for the department Chair offering me a teaching assistantship. The offer came as an attached pdf file with my name on the letter. He also sent me an advert to apply to the department. On the teaching assistantship pdf, part of the conditions is for me to apply to the the school. I am just confused about the whole thing. He gave me 9 days to accept the offer.
First of all his email checks out on the department website. How should I proceed please.

Good advice, but it doesn't work that way. There are ways of doing this to make it convincing. You need a good life story but there are certain things admission committee want to see to make them consider you.

You can contact me if you want me to help you through or I can help you.

Good afternoon house.
Please I need some clarification.
Firstly, I finished university in 2011, as my statement of result indicates but I was awarded my degree in 2012; as a result, it is 2012 that is written on my WES evaluation. Am I supposed to choose the year i actually finished university or the year my certificate was awarded as my university end date?
Also I started working before my degree was awarded, won't that be a red flag on my work experience if I choose what's on the degree certificate? Like I started working full-time before graduation?

In addition, I applied for the US non-immigrant Visa last year and I used the year on my certificate as my year of graduation on the US online application, but now I want to apply to Canada, would choosing the year I actually finished ( the one on my statement of result) for Canada be a problem? I heard both countries have access to each other's database, will choosing a different year now count as misrepresentation?

Please someone help a confused person.

I think it's better you ask your school first to know if they will accept the result . If they do then you really don't have anything to worry about.

To be on the safer side, make sure you apply to the school(which is a condition for accepting the offer) within the next nine days(or earlier), it is better to have this admit in the bag before thinking about other schools you applied to...Having a Teaching assistantship might just be your gatepass when you appear for your interview...

My testimony (part one)
If the Lord is on my side who can be against me.

2006, I was suppose to graduate from Unilorin (Maths Edu Department) but somethings happened I graduated 2008 with a third class. Mind all of 2007, I was waiting for my call up letter only to be informed that I had a missing grade. I missed a whole year without deferring my studies yet I was allowed back in.

I cried, I felt like killing myself. I never wanted to study that course. All I wanted was to be an Economist/Accountant. Due to my parents pressure I resumed like 2 weeks to my 100 level exam. I didn't take any test just the exams.
All I have in my mind was I am going to quit after my Jamb score is out. My score came out, I was not selected for Economics I became frustrated. Now in 200 level starring at the abysmal grade before me.
I was a social science student one of the best in my secondary school now my live dreams is falling apart.

My mother encouraged me and I decided to face the course squarely with everything thing I got. But it wasn't easy cos it wasn't my area of specialisation.
300 level I was practically begged to become the president of my department but I refused cos I need to rescue my CGPA.

That I did to a lower 2.2 until the unfortunate missing grade.
My parent wasn't mad at me rather they praised me and encouraged me. I was shocked beyond words.
2010 I got a job same year I was admitted for Economics at the University of Ibadan distance learning centre.
"If I have but one merit that is never given up".
Working and schooling wasn't easy. I missed on a 2.1 by a fraction!
Now fulfilled I applied for an international program from my place of work, sponsored by United states Department of States Bureau of Educational and Exchange Program.
To my greatest astonishment, I was the only one selected in Nigeria out of 30000 applicants.
I spent five days in Washington DC and 2 months at Bowling Green State University all expenses paid as a visiting scholar. It was between January-March 2018

My qualifications are third class Bsc (Ed) Maths Unilorin and Second class lower Bsc Economics DISTANCE LEARNING CENTRE! Yet I was called a VISITING SCHOLAR by the United states Department of States.

I came back applied for a master's in the same school.
I submitted my Unilorin transcript Tuesday evening.
Yesterday, March 1 I received my admission letter.

Never let anyone tell you it's impossible! There is no impossibility in God's own dictionary. Don't give up, pray, fast and work hard!
God bless you all!

For university admissions, it's best to choose the course by course evaluation. Either you use WES icap or WES basic. The WES icap costs 205 USD (74k naira) and the WES basic costs 160 USD (58k naira). WES Icap ensures your records are saved with them and you can easily send the transcript to any other school at a later date. The WES basic doesn't offer this. Then there's cost for sealed envelope.

For shipping the evaluated documents to you, you could either choose 7 USD for standard delivery or 75USD for courier delivery. For the WES icap just budget 249USD (91K) to get a copy and to send to your school of choice.

Your transcript has to come directly from your school due to incidents of fraud. Plus you'd need to send your WAEC transcript from WAEC Office directly and waec scratch card.

Good day Bros, please can you put me through on how to go about this Wes evaluation, especially on how to get my Waec transcript. I earlier wanted to use Span-tran to evaluate my credentials since it is recognized in Naces and they can help me to evaluate n verify(146k) my transcript cus I have my transcript with me thus saving me the stress of applying for another one from my school which will cost 30k excluding the cost of sending it to them. Now I decided to use Wes cus I noticed that it is what most people use. Please can you explain to me on how to get my waec transcript. How much do you think everything will cost me? Getting my transcript from my school will cost me 30k, d cost of sending it to Wes is what I don't. Please do help a sister, I am really confused on wat to do

Please I've a Bsc in Petroleum Engineering and would like to do my MSC in the same or related field, My WES iGPA calculation was 3.44/4. I just registered for GRE and TOEFL, I'm preparing towards fall 2020. I know most schools request for 3.00 GPA, but i would like to know if I stand a chance, since Engr courses are usually competively and I hope to get fundings as well. Your response and advice would be highly appreciated. Cheers!

Your GPA is very okay. Put more effort in getting a good GRE score, preferably 320+ and apply for PhD programs. You will definitely get funding. Most Schools doesn't fund Msc programs and funding for MSc is more competitive, that's why i advice you focus on PhD program where you can easily get fully funded offer.

Hello Gurus in the house, please I am in a state of dilemma right now and I need advises, though I have been following this thread from part 11.
Sincere appreciations to the contributors of this thread.
My story goes thus, though it's a bit long but please bear with me:

I am a HND graduate in Accounting from one of the reputable Federal Polytechnic in Nigeria, this year June I will clock 31 and recently completed NYSC.

I have been applying for an undergraduate transfer to City University of New York - College of Staten Island (Recommended by my Uncle who is working and living in US also my sponsor) since 2017 when I was still in HND 2 but one way or the other I have to defer my admissions up till this moment due to late preparations and other issues. Though I sent my ND transcript (GP 2.71/4.0) to College of Staten Island where they evaluated it with their in-house evaluators and I was given an admission after necessary requirements were fulfilled but it's late already to apply for Visa and the school advised me to defer my admission. During my NYSC in 2018, I started the admission process again and I-20 was sent to me but it got to me late that I couldn't apply for Visa at that time again. Then someone advised me that my age might affect my chances of getting a visa due to the fact that I am still pursuing undergraduate degree at that age, so he advised to go for Graduate Studies i.e Masters in Accounting but my ND GP is 2.71 and my HND GP is 2.77, and most schools in US accepts minimum of 3.0. My one problem now is that I am not a BSC graduate but a HND graduate. I heard different informations that Nigeria HND is equivalent to BSC in US if my ND+HND is evaluated by WES but confused if it's going to be up to 3.0 if evaluated finally by WES.
On hearing this information I approached College of Staten Island that during the course of my application I was also pursuing HND which I have gotten now and I want to use it to apply for graduate studies but they told me point blank they don't accept HND even if evaluated by WES. I was told to revert back to pursuing my previous Transfer application but before my application will be reviewed I need to provide my HND transcripts because they were not aware I have it before not until I told them.
After hearing the sad news so I opt to finding other schools in the US and they accept my HND but on condition that I evaluate it by WES to be equivalent to BSC in USA. Some of the schools are Purdue University, University of Utah, Georgia Southern University, University of Houston, Stratford University, Kennesaw University, Merrimack College, Virginia International University.

Please I want you to advise whether to go for the undergraduate studies in College of Staten Island with my age or should I evaluate my ND+HND with WES and apply to the aforementioned schools? And is there any chance of I getting up to 3.0 GPA after the evaluation by WES?
Please your advice and constructive criticisms will be highly needed.
Thank you.

Mbok, at that age, it's not advisable to apply for undergraduate studies.

However since you've spoken with various schools who're willing to accept you for graduate studies, why not give them a shot?

I beg, don't go to embassy with the undergraduate i20. It'd only give you a denial and decrease your chances of clinching the approval of your US visa.

One quick question: are you sure you've been following this thread since Part 11?

I had 3rd class in the University and most schools in trying to apply to only accept CGPA of 2.5 above. How do I go about it please? What schools accept 3rd class, low CGPA?

I'm 32 years and I thought I should apply to undergraduate studies, what is my chance of getting visa approval by that she for undergraduate?

Thanks
