BTW. I too went to a federal college. FCE, Zaria to be precise, and I can tell you with all certainty that it was not a waste of time. The goals you had when you got into sch were probably different from the goals other people (who effectively utilized their time at colleges around the country) had when they got in.
I don't blame you, even in my university days there were people who believed that a degree was a waste of time.

I'm pained hearing this statement from you. I am also a Yoruba boy. I had the same fate with y after secondary school. My results weren't good enough so I opted for college of education too. Graduated in 2009. Thought of changing my course after graduation but found it a difficult task due to the massive throng of people seeking admission too. I had to settle for Direct Entry. I graduated after gaining admission in 2015. I served in 2016 and after service immediately applied for a master program in ABU Zaria and currently running my masters. For your information,I studied integrated science education from NCE down to masters level and I've never regretted it.
I don't care who has gone ahead or who delved into other profession. I'm focused and just striving to be better than whom I was yesterday and not striving to compete with anyone. Bro change ur mindset and u'll see urself gaining new heights. Cheer

So, you are an Edukites. Greatest Edukites! I graduated from FCE(T), Akoka in 2010. Even though I never studied education in my degree level; most FCE (T), Akoka graduates do well in Unilag and other schools. No one attends college of education and regret it later except that person is a dullard.

I felt so disappointed in my self so i took another jamb in 2014 it was same 156 i was over disappointed in my self. I den decided to go for poly den (fed poly bauchi) but my mom refused that is too far from abj den. I don't have much knowledge about change of institution and nobody put me through so I went to college of education minna, spending 3yrs and have to wait for another year b4 result will b ready.

To cut d story shut, is diz year that am applying to university while my mates who go university and poly are serving now while some of them are even working. So am advising u guys not to go to collage of education it waste time.

HOWEVER...U MIGHT FINISH THAT DEGREE AND STILL BE USELESS TO UR LIFE....THAT NCE MIGHT BE THE GOD PLAN FOR UR LIFE

All govt owned institutions are stressful in Nigeria. Aside the certificate, I learnt a lot in FCE(T), Akoka even more than Unilag (though university is the ultimate). It was in FCE ( T ), Akoka I learnt how politics and activism are being played. Those psychology, sociology and philosophy courses made me understand human behaviours. I learnt about public speaking from teaching practice, the course I studied, which is computer/maths helped me a lot when I studied one of the Engineering courses at Unilag.

Yes it matters that one speaks and writes well. Granted English is not our mother tongue but it has become our lingua franca and even more significantly in this era of a globalised world English language is very important.

hmmm....information is education itself.... if u had gotten the right information u would have made the right choice...my website programmer advise me not to go back to HND that it is a wast of time going to school that my OND is OK cuz he only had OND and started making money from website development....but I didn't heed to his advice cus that's his own opinion. what works for him may not work for me...now am in the university of Benin affiliated degree program...

God bless you, that's exactly my point. By God's grace with all the experience I have gathered in COE, am likely to top my class when I get to the University. I tell you I have gathered a load lot of experience. That's why Its funny to me when someone tells me COE is a brain-drainer, I doubt if they knew what they were doing there.

Yet to collect my certificate from my university, I only sent CV and nothing more. She only did confirmation by my competence. So Dont blame yourself for some inadequacies.
