The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) says no fewer than 300 Corps members have withdrawn their applications for relocation to serve outside Anambra.

Mr Kehinde Aremu, Coordinator of NYSC in the state said this during the cultural carnival held for 2018 Batch B Stream Two Corps members at the Umunya Temporary Orientation Camp, Oyi Council Area on Sunday.

Aremu, who said the scheme had received about 600 of such applications, attributed it to fears the corps members have about the state before coming to camp.

He said the withdrawal of the transfer applications was due to the interaction which the NYSC created between the corps members with community leaders and local government administrators.

He said the process of acculturation had been so effective that they were now relaxed and ready to contribute their quota to the development of the communities where they would be posted for primary assignment.

The coordinator said the corps members were able to study, understand and display the rich and diverse cultural groups in Nigeria excellently within such a short time of being together.

“The bonding is great both among the corps members and between the corps members and the communities.

“Local government officials have been coming to talk to them and also entertain them, traditional rulers have also been coming and at this event we have a good number of them from Anambra and Enugu.

“Before now, I had not less that 600 applications for relocation from Anambra but at this moment, more than 300 of them have withdrawn their requests because we have been able to connect them with the people.

“Their fears were unfounded, they had a wrong idea of the Anambra environment but now they know better,” he said.

In his remark, Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje, the Traditional Ruler of Umunya said the larger Nigerian society had a lot to learn from what the NYSC was doing.

Onyekwuluje gave his blessing to the corps members and urged them to respect the culture of the people they were posted to serve while assuring them of the best of hospitality where ever they found themselves in the state.

“I am impressed with what I have seen here, the beautiful representation of the cultural endowment of this country by these Corps members really overwhelmed me.

“I thank the coordinator, he has done well, the good number of traditional rulers here says a lot and I must say that this is the best way to keep Nigeria together. Leaders of this country should understand and appreciate the people they are leading and their ways of life.

“NYSC is a good example of how to manage this country. For the corps members I welcome them to Anambra and assure them of the best hospitality,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there were cultural parade by the various platoons depicting major cultural groups in Nigeria, dance, drama and other competitions.

The camp was for Corps members deployed to serve in Anambra and Enugu states.

This is good news.

I am scared of the east.

I will want to redeploy from there too. My fear of the east is not because I have been there. My fear of them is from the way they conduct themselves online.

They are quick to threaten this and that. I will not be taking chances with them. I am sure these scared corpers must feel the same way too.

Look at them insulting me already. This is exactly my point.

A sensible one would have written to my write up, that I have the wrong information about them, and worked on correcting my impression about them.

But it is my blood they want. 4 of 5 Nigerians not from the East is scared of going there. You guys should work on your image problems and not me.

I challenge anybody here to POINT out ONE SINGLE building in the whole of EAST that is built by a NONE-IBO man.

None. When strangers refuse to build in your lands, then the problem is not me.

A lot of the corp members know there is nothing much in the state, no prospect of employment after service, high cost of living and the hostile nature of the locals of those place.

Only states such as Borno, Yobe and Adamawa receive such a deluge of relocation requests obviously because of security challenges.

Anybody who eats this kind of poo cannot be politically sound and will obviously be saturated by hatred, jealousy and vain chest beating.

And Yoruba land is better? Is your west a better place to serve or is it the North ridden with child rapists and serial terrorists?

Anambra still pays corpers, never has it been heard that a corper was harmed in Anambra, Anambra still gives free accommodations to corpers in their villages and towns, Anambra is very peaceful and rarely in the news for bad things..... On the other hand, have you been to Oshogbo and Ogun state... the world capital of human head hunting, vaginal scraping, Pennis excavation, eyes expunging, breast extraction and eyes pulling?

In the whole Nigeria, tell me one state safer and more richer in opportunities than Anambra? Is it Lagos that is so Overpopulated and smelly or is it Kano that is so intolerant to other people and their religion?

You think Igbos take this bullshyt online to offline?

In the west one time, I once heard a Yoruba man who said that he goes around infecting Igbo girls with HIV and AIDS because Igbos are arrogant and domineering online and offline. He never knew I understood Yoruba well.

Me and you know the people and region that are ontologically bad and evil. Let me not talk sha to avoid one evil moderator from that side.

Below is the food you guys eat! Does that stuff look palatable?

They are actually very dangerous people.
If you visit the properties section of Nairaland very well , many of our builders have been invited to the east for project contracts and then kidnapped for ransom or robbed at gun point severally.

*** Modified .
Someone that was almost kidnapped created this thread in 2015 ,nothing has changed about the east till now.

And others that were robbed posted on the thread too .

You are not needed in the East and NigerDelta.

Sambisa forest will best suit you.

You can also relocate to Oshogbo the capital of headhunters & skull miners.

Every January, you should see how Igbos run away from Igboland as if there is a war going on there.

It's only Igbos I know that require armed Mopol protection before they enter their own fathers' compounds.

Even at that, they specifically request for Middle belt, Hausa or Yoruba Mobile policemen. You won't see an Igbo man with his Mopol escort being an Igbo man. You'll hear them say stuff like 'I don't want an Mbaise man holding a gun near me'.

Speak for your erosion plagued potopoto region. The Niger Delta is safer than the erosion plagued cave where armed robbers and kidnappers like Osisikanwu are given chieftaincy titles.

The feeling is mutual. People from the east fear people from the north. There is so much mistrust, and hate and suspicion of one another. All fueled and stoked by a few people who get richer and richer from our hate and fear and suspicion of one another.

Like in any marriage if we cant trust one another then maybe we should divorce
