I was in this vehicle and it happened on 19th of September, 2018 and NOT 23rd of September as the poster posted. No one sustained injury in the bus except a lady that had slight dislocation. Please stop posting lies on social media. We thank God that it was not more than this. We were coming from PH to Ajah Lagos Nigeria. A momentary distraction caused the crash, there was a trailer at our back and a bus at our front, in the process of not hitting the bus in our front, the car veered off the road and crashed into the drainage channel.

Passengers of A God is Good bus narrowly escaped death after the vehicle crashed along the Benin-Lagos Express Road after the driver allegedly slept off while on the steering.

The incident reportedly happened yesterday, Sunday 23rd September, 2018, Daily Post reports.

One of the passengers, who identified herself as Chenemi, told newsmen that the bus veered off the road after the driver reportedly dozed off and landed in a bush.

“The driver slept off while on steering and lost control of the vehicle. Before we knew it, we were already heading towards the bush.

“I sustained injury on my forehead. It was the airbag that saved me because I was sitting close to the driver.”

The source further disclosed that eight other persons were severely injured while an infant lost one of her fingers to the mishap.

She blamed the driver for his unprofessional conduct while calling on the relevant authorities to call the management of the company to order.

The incident happened days after over seven passengers, mostly women traveling with same transport company were kidnapped.

The passengers were abducted on their way to Lagos from Enugu in Ore.

Meanwhile, a text message to the media department of the company for reaction was not replied at the time of this report.

Seriously,we should all take precaution and our safety seriously,

All travelers during this ember months, try to chose someone who is very alert and can start an argument to seat on the front seat, that way the Driver can talk and talk till you get to your destination

Travelled with a crew that argued from Abuja to Owerri. Sh,!t was crazy. Any bump, potholes, campaign pictures, rickety cars or overtaken got this crew talking. Even when we parked to relieve the bladder.., arguments on why your bladder is taking too long to empty....Nobody slept a wink cos of the laughters, cajoling and innuendos. They pitched Igbos against Hausa, yoruba even soup, colour of sh!T...missed those guys. We sailed smoothly.

I disagree with u bro! I don't take any other transport coy except GIG since 2013. Their accident is very rare! I work outside Lagos while my family remains in Lagos for u to know how frequent I am on that road! Pls get ur facts right! Peace mass I can confidently tell falls in that category of moving coffin, their accidented vehicles litter the road fro Lagos to Calabar!

U are very correct bro.
In those days, when we travel with commercial buses, they don't allow women to sit in the front, even though as a child then I don't know why but, now it's different, u see babes dragging front seats, and immediately the ignition is started u see them doze off and infecting the driver with their sleep.
I think the transportation coy should watch it and insist only those who know they will not sleep should sit in the front.

It is probably the system that sucks... Having drivers work everyday travelling long distances; from Uyo to Lagos, Lagos to Abuja, Port Harcourt to Abuja etc. everyday by the same drivers?

Totally unsustainable. They have to change the system. Humans not robots.


But hey! They are amongst the best, but have to do more regarding drivers' welfare and work-life balance.

This is the bane of the problem.

With a plethora of checkpoints and other mishaps, they arrive late and are usually up by 4am.

A lot of them also spend time to unwind with the opposite sex

Good point,i saved myself and other passegers years ago when i noticed that the driver was sleeping and the bus was heading to the concrete barriers at the same ORE -BENIN highway.

Not by the looks of things though.

it could be the driver took tramadol few hours before driving. That is one of the side effect of tramadol. Though it is proved globally as a pain killer but you will discover several hours after taking it, you begin to feel drowsy. I discovered this when this drug was partof the drugs given to me at a specialist hospital.

Whenever I have to seat in front I always keep vigilance over the driver and I also try not to take a nap or yawn because it actually someone close to being drowsy

They have to make sure that their drivers goes only a single trip in a day

That should be enough to save drivers from sleeping on wheels

The passenger narrating the story should be blamed too. I don't sit in the front cos I like front seat, but to "assist" the driver. I call a driver to order wen he's not doing well. Dats why I don't like carrying ladies in front of my car. They'll be dere doing badoo or answering long calls, instead of putting eyes on the rd

This reminds me of the day I had to keep watch over a driver from Lagos to Ibadan. Immediately I saw the man yawning severally, I knew problem don dey, na to watch him all the way remained. The driver would later thank me on getting to Ibadan for keeping him away. I managed somehow to just engage him throughout the journey.

My two experience with GIGM about a month ago was horrifying to be subtle but they apologies anyway.

My advice to their Management if they get to see this is to strengthen their rescue operations during this quater. The Ore road is arguably the most dangerous road along that axis. We were almost robbed at gun point through GIGM for like an hour, no vehicle ply the road, we all ran into the bush around.

The authorities should secure that Ore road and all these transport & logistic company should work with security agencies on such occurrence.

We got to the scene few minutes after the accident occurred. According to the driver, a distraction from a trailer carrying gas caused the accident.

The scene was few meters to Ore.
