is that not a parable? use your senses a little.
the kingdom of heaven is like a seed, do you also interpret it as LITERAL, why not?
why you so desperate for hell?

gehenna is a place where sacrfices and HUMAN BODIES ARE DISPOSED AND BURNT,

It's not a parable. Because the fulfillment is contained in Revelation 20:10-15. It will certainly happen.

The everlasting fire is the Lake of fire in Revelation 20:10.

And those whose names are not in the book of Life will also be thrown in there after the final judgement - Revelation 20:15.

Mayntheemaynn:

jesus was talking about gehenna to his jewish audience during 1st century palestine, what will they think of gehnna then?
gehenna was not originaly used for dumping of refuse. look up the history of gehenna to understand what jesus meant in 1st century when he said, 'the fire there is never quenched and the worms do not die.'

there is spiritual worm in your hell? grin

The scripture pointing to the reality of hell are too many to be ignored or misunderstood. Go through the gospel of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. You will see infallible proves that hell is indeed real.

Different words were used. Even Jesus mentioned outer darkness, everlasting fire, furnace of fire.

He also mentioned the experiences of those who will be thrown in.

He said that they will weep and gnashed their teeth.

In another place, he said, they will wail and gnashed their teeth.

Why? Because of the pains and torments.

Even the parable of the wheat and tares says the same thing.

No one has an excuse to say that he doesn't know what Jesus was saying.

He said it in many ways. Go back and read your Bible.

Otherwise, you will regret when you get in there.

Parables are truths conveyed using illustrations of events that could actually happen in reality.

So, even if it's a parable, it means it can actually happen and will happen.

For instance, the parable of the sheep and goats clearly reveals what will happen to those who ignore others who are in need. They will end up in hell fire.

So, all the parables carry a moral lesson. They are not fairy tales.

It one context, it means that everything in the kingdom of God revolves around the principle of send sowing and harvest. What you sow is what you reap. And you reap in multiple proportions.

In another context, it refers to how the kingdom of God grows. It might look smallest at the beginning but incredibly large just like a seed grows into big trees.

I never said Jesus didn't mention Gehena. But in some other illustrations pointing to the same place of torment, he used other terms so the reader who honestly wants to learn will clearly understand what is being taught.

For instance, if hell simply means the physical grave that we know, it sounds foolish to make comments like;

1. The Gates of hell. Do physical graves have gates?

2. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Do lifeless body weep and gnash their teeth.

3. As deep as hell. Do you use a grave that has a shallow Dept as a reference for depth? Even the deep ocean was not used. Because hell is far deeper than the deepest ocean.

4. The scripture says that the wicked shall be turned into hell - Psalms 9:17. If hell means grave, is it only the wicked that goes there?

5. Cast into hell or thrown into hell. Do you throw people into graves. Death bodies are gradually lowered into Graves. They are never thrown.

Check my thread on the differences between hell and grave for more information.

I just explained to you what the seed represent. The seed is not literal but the message is clear.

Even Jesus in one of the parable said the seed is the word of God. And the soils are the different conditions of the hearts of men.

Jesus used Gehena figuratively for the Jews to understand what he meant but he wasn't referring to the valley of hinnon. Because he said that the fire is never quenched and the worms do not die.

Do you know why motor bikes in South south especially in Edo and Delta State is popularly known as okada?

Okada was an airline started by Chief Igbinedion. Because of the speed of motor bikes, they just called it okada. Does it mean when you here okada, it is referring to the village in Edo state or the airline?

So, whether Gehena was used, or sheol or Hades, it refers to the same destination - hell.

The many parables Jesus gave points to one message. There is an afterlife. And those who reject salvation will end up in a place of torment. First destination is hell. Final place is the Lake of fire.

If you don't repent, you will end up there whether you believe it or not. Your unbelief makes no difference.

In fact, the scripture says;

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and UNBELIEVING, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the LAKE which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The passage even describes what happens in there.

So which Jewish person in Jesus time and Now, takes Sheol and valley of hinnom as Greek hell.

An atheist has a better hope than Jehovah Witness adherents. At least we have seen a couple of them embracing Christ on Nairaland. But Jehovah Witness members seems to be hopelessly lost in the doctrines of Russell and Rutherford. My prayer is that some of you will realize the truth and embrace the true gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sure it was. Answer my question. Is that a parable?

Hell is a compartment at the center of the earth shaped like a woman. It was the body parts that every woman has.

It has mouth, legs, hands, belly etc. Jonah went to the belly. Jesus went to the heart.

After hell releases all it's inmate, hell itself will be thrown into the Lake of fire. So, there is nothing hard to understand about that.

The Jews used to sacrifice their children there. But it was later stopped and used just as a refuse dump.

The historical fact that people were burnt there was what brought about the figurative reference.

They knew what he was saying. You are the one who doesn't know. And those who don't believe in the reality of hell twist the narrative to oppose the truth of God's word.

They know it's an eternal place of torment Jesus was referring to. It's the likes of Jehovah Witness organization that is deceiving people.

At the time Jesus used it figuratively, it was no longer used for sacrifice. So, it couldn't have been a threat to the Jews if he was referring to the physical Gehena.
