ajl: When you put the way an average Nigerian reason, you will question your sanity always. I honestly don't know what's uber business in all these, its simple courtesy and they is need for authority to even get involve before uber can do anything. The OP went against uber terms and conditions, on no account was he suppose to send money to the driver or request for his account number because they have 2 methods of payment he can pick from, which is card or cash. But careless Nigerians that like to do things their own way and see abnormal as normal will always find a way to negotiate nonsense. He gave the driver a 1 star on a trip he did not embark on, what's the reason for doing that? The guy obviously knew he gave him 1 star and gently move on, now he kicked the ball to his court (which one have to be careful of sending such money into a provided account without not involving the authorities), and expect him to be a gentle man, like he was when he had to chance too. Its their problem, just let them sought it out anyway they can... I have no side to take here. 1 Like 1 Share |

this is most likely what would have happened if the op had complained to the bank that it was an unauthorized transaction , the cops would have traced the driver and arrested him but telling the bank you mistakenly sent 1million naira to another account sounds somehow https://www.nairaland.com/4852905/uba-refunds-customer-whose-money In a rare act of compassion, never done by any bank before, United bank for Africa,UBA, refunded the funds of a middle aged man who was recently robbed of his entire fund, amounting to N247,000.00. The man who visited UBA Chevron branch office to complain about being robbed of his phone was assisted only to find that there were some other vital information that were not given and were necessary to block off his phone from the fraudsters. 1 Like |

Sankabson:leave uber out of this case cos in the app they said cash payment or card, this is why they encourage riders to use card. All you need to do is go to his bank and track him. |
Re: Help!!! I Mistakenly Sent N1m To A Uber Driver by Tgiirl(m): 7:25pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
princy406: Why. Uber is involved and should be involved. Uber connects driver to rider. Which ever way you look at it.. Uber needs to do something else more riders will flee from their app. 2 Likes |

Tgiirl:.you don't get it and ppl won't flee from Uber app. 1)the clients uses Uber app to locate a nearby driver. (Uber Is liable and involved) 2)the driver comes ,picks the clients to his destination. ( Uber is liable and involved) 3) the driver calcula the fees and the clients pays what is shown on Uber meter. (Urber is involved and liable) 4)THE FOLLOWING DAY WITHOUT NEED FOR ANY UBER SERVICES OR CONSULTING UBER APP TO LOCATE ANY DRIVER , THE VICTIM VOLUNTARILY AND MISTAKENLY TRANSFERS 1MILLION NAIRA TO THE UBER DRIVER . PLEASE WHAT IS UBER BUSINESS IN THIS ? WAS THE MONEY A PAYMENT FOR UBER SERVICES RENDERED? |

U guys take a time to Google why most banks don't try to solve stolen money from accounts. Or from credit cards. To see why the issue hasn't been solved yet |

bunmiano: You don't have anything to worry about. Get a warrant from a court of law, then take it to his bank so the account would be blocked. If the court refuses to block it, sue them, too. They must pay. Oh and you have your bank statement that shows about the transaction and the SMS alert you got... and his account details nah? This should be easier than you think. You can sue Uber sef, I'm not kidding you, and Uber would have to convince the court that they sought every means to produce your money stolen by one of their fraudulent employee. If they can't and yes, they can't convince the court that they acted in their customer's best interest otherwise they'd have nabbed the guy by now--they should have all the details about all their employee (Next of kin, address etc, etc), shouldn't they? I mean proper background checks should be carried out nah. Honestly the way it is veering, they'd have to pay damages for all you went through if you are really serious about wanting your money back. If you hire criminals you MUST pay for your follies. 1 Like |
