My attention has been drawn to this video and report about this wedding. It disturbing to note that people still abuse human right in Nigeria. Nigeria constitution does not make kissing a part of statutory wedding. so if the lady said she is not interested in kissing and her husband agrees that is their right and decision nobody should harass or blame them. What they are doing in the ikoyi registry is unconstitutional and an aberration. whether they have sex or not is nobody's business .It is clear they have agreed on some things before they came for wedding. So their decision must be respected even if it is religious as long as it is not contradictory to the wedding statutory act in our constitution. what they should have done is to legalize their union and dismiss them. In view of the above ikoyi registry should apologize to them for subjecting them to humiliation and ridicule because of imposing kissing on them which is not a part of requirements for statutory marriage in the Nigerian constitution.

Not only Ikoyi registry, most of the registry in Lagos enforce the barbaric demand. At least, I've witnessed two.

Truth is, going to the registry without fulfilling the traditional rights doesn't really make sense in Nigeria. Traditional marriage should always come before court wedding to avoid this kind of nonsense. A woman whose rites have been paid traditionally would not reject a kiss from her husband.

That you've done a registry wedding doesn't mean you should start giving your husband BJ, sex, etc.
