In fact any late goalkeeper will do. It’s just to honor those we have lost. ChrisKels: |

Joebie: Can you think of any great Goalkeeper that is late? |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 9:03am On Nov 23, 2018 |
Sam Ibiam, first Nigerian National team GK https://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/first-nigerian-goalkeeper-sam-ibiam-dies-at-90/amp/ If I had my way I would recognize all those forgotten first heroes. Icon4s: |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 11:37am On Nov 23, 2018 |
Joebie: ok that's true. Sam Ibiam is late now. Ok, we can go with Sam Ibiam if other Committee members approve of it. For Midfield we also have Thompson Oliha asides Samuel Okwaraji |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by komekn(m): 8:44pm On Nov 23, 2018 |
Icon4s: If we are talking historical it should be about influence and excellence as well. Christian Chukwu ( Chairman) or even Henry Nwosu with regards to Midfielder awards. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 8:59pm On Nov 23, 2018 |
komekn: Joebie is looking at we naming the awards after our late players. And I think I also buy the idea. However, it will be a decision for the entire house. Meanwhile, Chief Forgiveness, we are still awaiting your response on list of awards. Tomorrow we roll out the final list of awards and then spell out criteria for selection of nominees. |

Best Ogedengbe was Nigeria's keeper at the 1980 Nations cup that we won. He has passed away. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by ChrisKels: 6:27am On Nov 24, 2018 |
Joebie: Yes Ibiam was the first national team goalkeeper buh what were his achievements for the national team? I think Best Ogedengbe who was the first team goalkeeper in the 80s and a member of the all conquering squad that won us our first Afcon, fits the bill better. My pick is #BestOgedengbe |

Okay good one! tbaba1234: |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 3:10pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
tbaba1234: Yeah, he is a more recent Goalkeeper than Sam Ibiam and also more famous. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 3:13pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
ChrisKels: Correct. 4/7 vying for Best Ogedengbe so "Ogedengbe Best Goalkeeper award" it is. (His first name is even "Best". |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 3:20pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
For the Best Midfielder's award we are toren between two Fallen heroes: Samuel Okwaraji and Thompson Oliha. Tbaba1234, ChrisKels, Joebie, TheSuperNerd, Forgiveness, Komekn, let's chose one. I go for Samuel Okwaraji especially as he died during service. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 3:30pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
I go with Okwaraji as well Icon4s: |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by forgiveness: 4:08pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
Icon4s: Is there any need tagging the awards with the names of fallen heroes? Is it not better to just list the awards without fallen heroes attached? |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 4:10pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
Either way it doesn’t take anything away from what we are doing. Let’s discuss the more pertinent issues. forgiveness: |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by forgiveness: 4:13pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
Joebie: I think we should agree on this before proceeding. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 4:30pm On Nov 24, 2018 |

Joebie: Can you move the motion to vote? |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 5:24pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
forgiveness: Well, just a way to immotalize our fallen heroes. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 5:28pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
forgiveness: If we put this to Vote I think thus far u are the only one on the opposing side. |

Setting Criteria for players Selection. We do not have the complete Data base of the statistics of the individual players, so we don't need to make the criteria too scientific. These are going to be simple and justifiable criteria. I will suggest below: 1. All award categories should be for players who have featured for any of the national teams (IE, Super Eagles, CHAN Eagles, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets, Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos) 2. Rating of players should be based on national team performances only. 3. Young Player of the Year is strictly for players 21years and below. 4. For The Best Attacker award I suggest points should be generated as thus: Goal-2 points, assist-1 point. 5. Selection of 3 players for the other sections of the team( ie Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder) can be subjective but also objective. We can add more or remove any from the list above Cc: TheSuperNerd, Joebie, Forgiveness, Komekn, ChrisKels, Tbaba1234. |
