@ Barrytone, I understand your point of view perfectly as it reflects the kind of person I am. However, that is just an unconventional approach to life by a few and so, do not expect the majority to understand this approach. I've been in a town before, earning low, however, rejected job offers willing to pay more than twice my salary in Lagos, just because of some of the things you highlighted (although I was born and bred in Lagos). People close to me thought I was crazy, but in the long run, staying back in that peaceful and quiet environment gave me the required serenity to tap into more valuable opportunities that generations unborn will long enjoy after I'm gone. Your mindset and approach is for a few, not majority; there's no explanation that can convince anyone otherwise. Barrytone: |
There is no one size fits all in the issues of charting a career path for one's self to secure the future. However, one thing is certain; the race is NOT to the swift, neither is the battle to the strong. It is of God that showeth mercy. Kira kita o d'ola. Hence, Beere l'owo ori ![]() |
Nwokeomajayb:I currently have a plot and half at Adron's City of David Estate (Phase 1), Shimawa after successfully selling off half plot from a total of 2 plots last year. I am selling for half the current market price 'cos I relocated out of town and no longer available to develop the site allocated to me with corresponding documents. You may send me a pm if interested. If not interested, no wahala ![]() |
Daniboygeorge22:Location? Is the place currently being developed by other allotees? Pictures? |
Please let's restore this thread to factory settings ![]() |
Phyde:Please go through the first paragraph of my post which reflects its intent. Not comparison |
Freciprocal:I lived a secluded life. That city was not my home. I knew no one to give me such favors |
ojesymsym:Yes. You're right. Not all my siblings could make lemonade out of the lemon |
Freciprocal:None whatsoever. I was/am an introvert, had no friend... Just coursemates/colleagues |
ojesymsym:I would eternally be grateful to my dad for making me go through that phase to find my feet by myself. After growing up as an ajebutter, I needed to be schooled in the reality of the other side of life which paid off for me 'cos I wouldn't have developed the skills to make me valuable enough to be recruited by my current employer. Enough said |
olujaidi:. 1. I lived in Lagos but stayed back to work in another city after my postgraduate program in that city. 2. Yes I was solely responsible for my expenses as my father, although wealthy, believed in owing his children only education. So after my M.Sc, I was solely responsible for my expenses. I started from scratch as I had no savings prior to this time. This is why I took the 27k job as I needed a means of survival 3. How I was able to do it? Honestly I can't really say. I guess God's grace and the 3 things I listed in my previous post. I also believe there's something called God blessing the work of our hands as my colleagues in the office used to think I was a wealthy person due to the quality of life I lived. They didn't know that "all na packaging" ![]() |
NL1960:You are right on point. The first 2 plots of Estate land I bought was from a thrift collection... |
ahiboilandgas:Which is why I said I lived well and ate very good, nutritious food. I didn't compromise good life and good food 'cos i don't believe in slaving for money, regardless of my income. Money's got to be my slave, not the other way round. However, when procuring things like clothes, shoes, etc. I was very selective in going for the best at the most cost-efficient price. After all, the most expensive clothes, shoes or bags are not always the best quality |
I just want to put this out there for someone earning low and feels quite disadvantaged by default as regards saving from the meagre income. There is always this overwhelming feeling about how much/how long do you have to save to accrue a significant amount. In the year 2012-2014, I was earning 27k as an M.Sc. holder and still saved enough to live well and eat good, nutritious food . My personal utilities for my wedding was also from the savings I had from this meagre income. Now, I save over 80% of my salary monthly. That saving culture didn't jump on me today. It started several years ago when I was earning a meagre sum of 27k, even though I wasn't able to save more than 10% of my income as at then. The key is living below your means. Do not compare yourself with others. Be grateful for the little you have. These 3keys are ways of life that opens the door to gradual albeit steady abundance; increasing your income and consequently, your ability to save more. |
sysengr:Hi sysengr, Nairaland notified me of your pm; however, I didn't get it in my mail box. I've sent you a pm instead. Kindly respond. |
sysengr:Congratulations sysengr on the arrival of your baby. Please send me a pm. I have a little token for baby. May God keep the baby and every member of your family I want to assure you that the miraculous has begun in your home. |

9jatriot:No dear, you aren't wrong; I actually have a lot to write but no time. I just know that this country is blessed. The foreigners know this; they'd rather keep us from knowing/ acting on the truth for whatever reason. With a few tweaks here and there, we are actually the giant, not just of Africa. |
Barrytone:My perception about Nigeria changed last year when I visited one of the most media hyped countries in Europe for the first time. I appreciated more, the effort made by some governors in this country to improve their state and make certain infrastructures world-class. We are not there yet, but I believe with consistency, we'd get there. I used to wonder why the foreigners in my organization are always very happy and joyful when they are redeployed to Nigeria. You can literally feel the heartfelt gratitude to be deployed to work in a place like Nigeria. I used to wonder what tickles their fancy about this 'shithole' of a country; worse still, they never ever want to leave once it's time to be redeployed elsewhere. Several of them have been delaying their redeployment for over a year now, and I learnt a few of them are working on getting permanent residency in Nigeria. They said the impression they had about Nigeria, is usually from the media and Nollywood movies, which depicted Nigerians as fetish, impoverished etc. They are usually very pleasantly surprised after first-hand experience in Nigeria that their perception about the country had been wrong all along. With a little more coordinated and consistent effort on the part of the government in putting the necessary infrastructures in place, and creating enabling environment for massive employment opportunities, this country is actually a goldmine. |
abraolas1:There's a plot and half which I currently want to dispose off at City of David Estate (Adron Homes and Properties), Shimawa. I'm offering 50% off the current price of 6M per plot. Letter of Allocation, Deed of Assignment, etc has been received from Adron, but I relocated out of town, hence the need to sell off. |
emmanuelewumi:Alright. This is well noted. Thank you |
emmanuelewumi:Good morning Mr Emmanuel. Please I need to discuss something confidential with you. Sent a pm this morning. Kindly respond. Thanks |
emmanuelewumi:Honestly, Nestle has always been of special interest to me due to this point you stated. I've always wondered about this, since the early 2000s. Please how do I get to buy their shares? Thanks in advance |
omobacyprus:Yes I agree with the bolded. However, we reap when we sow. We want to reap mercy, we sow mercy. Ps 18:25, Hosea 10:12 |
sysengr:Thank God 'cos nothing happens by coincidence with God. He must have planned this thread for a purpose. All glory belongs to Him alone. James 4:8a |
4tunebest:I want to conclude with this post 'cos no time to be going back and forth on NL. Step 6: I prayed the word of God. I remember my father telling me, while growing up that I must make the Bible my friend in order to fulfil my destiny. Hence I changed strategy such that whenever I study the word, the Holy Spirit gave me insight to prayer points to apply personally and pray from that scripture, which I always prayed immediately like a wounded lion 'cos I was desperate for a change. For instance, once I read the experience of the Israelites where they were stranded whilst being faced with the red sea, God commanded Moses on what to do and to MOVE FORWARD; My prayer point became: The Lord has commanded me to move forward, therefore, I am moving forward in life, no more stagnation.. Hebrews 4:12 has the reason why the word of God always works in any situation. Step 7: Sacrificial giving towards the work of God. I have too many instances to even describe any. I read an article that any money which is not enough to meet my needs is a SEED that should be sown; while any money that is sufficient to meet my needs is a BREAD that I can eat and use for myself. This became my guiding principle and so, I sowed a lot of seeds as sacrificial giving. 2Cor 9:10. I didn't eat my seed, and also didn't give my bread. As expected, when seeds are sown, there is harvest at the appropriate time. No harvest without sowing of seeds 'cos God is not a magician. He is a rewarder. Step 8: Honoring God in the way I lived my life. It is God that giveth the power to get wealth (not mere riches); if you want him to honor you with wealth, Honor him first. (1Sam 2:30). Think of personal ways you can honor God in your own life, and start doing those things. He will reciprocate. Also be sensitive to any specific thing He requires you to do, and do it. I remember honoring God with something I had reserved to use for myself; It was a sacrifice and my prayer was: "Father, because I have honored you with this, special honor, reserved for special people, let it begin to locate me. It indeed located me because the job I got is reserved for special people and should have taken me not less than 20 years of experience in my career. He gave me what I was not qualified to get, without knowing anybody or having any connection. Step 9: Spend time praying in the Spirit. The wisdom and power to get kingdom wealth comes through the Holy Spirit. Zech 4:6 Step 10: I started thanking God for what He was about to do in my life; I had unwavering faith that He will change my story 'cos all my focus was on how to please him. I forgot about my needs, and I know He is faithful to fulfil the promises in the scripture for me. This became my reason for the midnight praises. I had deep joy and was expectant of what He would do, even though I wasn't experiencing changes physically, I never stopped thanking Him for what I believed He was capable of doing in my life, especially after he gave me the scripture: 1Cor 10:13. Step 11: Take Action 'cos faith without works is dead. I applied for a job in Jan 2018, 3 weeks later, I received a regret mail that I was not selected for test; one month later, I received another mail apologizing for the previous error and inviting me for test. One month later, invitation for interview; on my way to the interview, the Holy Spirit started telling me the questions that will be asked, to which I started preparing answers for. Hence I was able to answer the questions effortlessly, as if I had the experience, for a job I was not qualified for. God gave me the power to get wealth- I was the only one selected out of over 1 thousand applicants, without any connection whatsoever. The position was created for the first time in the history of that organization, after 58 years in existence. The position was created 'cos God wanted to set me up for greatness. This is the kind of kingdom wealth I'm encouraging you to seek after, not the inferior one that man made books will deliver to you. In conclusion, I sought God, (not any pastor) with all my heart, and I found him as He promised in His word. God is no respecter of persons; what worked for me will work for you if you've given your life to Christ. I hope to read your testimony soon Gracias! |
4tunebest:There was no apparent reason to be grateful to God; however I had to think deep and eventually found the following reasons for my midnight praises: ***There was perfect health in my family; no medical emergencies that will necessitate going about to borrow money from friends/family. ***We lived in a very large, well furnished 3-bedroom apartment; such that any one visiting us could never imagine the hard times we were going through. ***That God kept our secret that we were in extreme lack. These were the 3 major reasons for my midnight praises; there was no other thing to be grateful for. STEP 2: I continued to give out of the little I had. There was a time all the money on me was four hundred and twenty naira; a neighbor approached me that the family had not eaten for days, and needed four hundred naira only to buy a paint of garri to feed the family. I released that money and was left with only 20 naira. I did it willingly, grateful to God that inspite of my lack, I was still able to meet someone else's needs. There was a time also after buying small food stuff, I divided it into 2 and gave an extremely needy person I knew. These 2 instances are few out of several other instances I gave to other people in need. I guess their heartfelt prayers after receiving, also worked for me one way or another. Step 3: I changed my prayer points. I am an addicted tither; however during this time, I could not pay any tithe (for over 1 year) 'cos no money was coming in, and the little coming in was not even enough to feed on. My only prayer became, "God bless me, so that I can start paying my tithe again". Bless me, so that I can give towards the development of the church again; Bless me, so I can be a blessing to others again. Nothing else mattered. I had seen it all. The worst had happened. I forgot about myself, my needs, and started focusing on the needs of the kingdom. Eventually, I discovered that the more I sought God, the more money looked for me. I didn't have to look for money. Money is now the least of my problems (Matt 6:31-33.."Seek ye first the kingdom of God"...) Indeed, other things were added unto me. Step 4: I started experiencing spiritual attacks and victories in my dream. There was a resistance from the devil to prevent me from being delivered out of penury (Matt 11:12). He tried all sort of terrible things, but I always overcame in the dream, and so I wake up to pray and enforce my victory. 1Jn 4:4. The devil is truly a toothless bulldog. He can't attack any true child of God; however, he devises different means to instil FEAR, without which he has no access, except you allow him through fear. I'll find time to continue |
4tunebest:In the year 2017, I PRAYED, fasted, etc like I've never done before. I was determined to get out of that financial quagmire. However, there was no observable difference in the situation. Consequently, my new year resolution for the year 2018 was to change strategy and not expend energy in praying, fasting, etc like I did in 2017. I still engaged in praying/fasting in 2018, but not as intensively as I did in 2017. 3 months into the year 2018, God started moving, and before the end of that same year, my story changed forever. God MOVED. The book: "Move that mountain", can't remember the name of the author (Nigerian) opened my eyes to certain realities which propelled me to take certain steps. 1. I stopped focusing on the challenges and started focusing on God. This was after I came to the realization that for every challenge, there is a glory/huge blessing God wants to release. The devil knows this and doesn't want the glory revealed; hence he prefers for us to focus on the problems; cos the more we fix our eyes on what's going on around us, the more blinded we are from the unlimited possibilities from above. 2. I came to the realization that dwelling on the problems means that I focus less on the mightiness of God; while focusing more on what the devil is capable of doing in my life. Worrying about the challenges meant that I didn't trust that God could solve the problems and I was subconsciously ascribing more power to the devil because I was focusing on the challenges. 3. I realized that because the devil has been, and is always an enemy of a Christian home, his plan was to frustrate me out of my husband's house, using lack as a weapon. 4. I realized that no one likes to stay wherever his enemy is being praised; no one likes to be ignored; no one likes to be treated as if he doesn't exist. Consequently, I started ignoring the devil by not worrying about my problems again, I started giving QUALITY praises to an enemy of the devil-God. I made it a sacrificial praise, such that my midnight prayers were replaced with midnight praises. I stopped midnight prayers. I started engaging in midnight praises. 5. I started having spiritual encounters where I was shown the source(s) of the challenges, including how to get out of it. I'll find time to continue my piece tomorrow. However, I hope you've given your life to Christ. The approach I took can only work for those who are truly born-again, not just church goers. Because I remember having a dream where I was called My first name, and JESUS CHRIST was pronounced as my surname; after which I was given my benefit as His HEIR in that dream. This was what manifested in a series of life changing events in the physical realm. I realized that the spiritual controls the physical. But more importantly, I can alter what happens in the spiritual by my physical activities. Once I alter the spiritual in this way, then this spiritual (that I have programmed) will manifest physically. Therefore, the physical steps I took worked in altering the spiritual atmosphere to work in my favour, which eventually translated in the physical. STEP 1: Aggressive, Quality, Deep, Heart-felt midnight praises and dance to God. I started doing this for 20 minutes, later I progressed to 30 minutes, then 45 minutes, then 1 hour, etc. The more I engaged in it, the more I was able to spend more time in it. I'll continue much later. Thanks |
sysengr:I've been through this phase before. I know what it means to be 9 months pregnant; and not knowing how or where money to buy baby things will come from. I've been without ordinary 10 naira for a whole week. I know what it means to have no idea what to eat to break my fast at 6 pm. I know what it means to have to wait for my daughter to return from school in the afternoon for me to have my first meal of the day by feeding on her left overs. I can go on and on. This experience was after experiencing wealth and abundance; and so I moved from "grace" to "grass" What I Did Okay so before highlighting the steps I took that led me out of that dark period of my life, it may be helpful to note that the experiences I described above is now a thing of the past 'cos right now...……….. you won't imagine I went through that phase in 2017 and 2018. I'll find time to detail the practical steps I took later. The bulk of the work required to deliver the home is on the woman in times like this. This is the reason you are your husband's helpmeet. It was this realization that made me kickstart the steps I took |
yinkaadesegha:Thank you sir, your oil will never run dry |
yinkaadesegha:Thank you so much Sir. Much appreciated. in the second dream, I woke up happy that the hen was very fat |
Good day Sir. Kindly help interpret these dreams. Thank you for the good work you're doing. 1. I was in the front of a local cheese seller to buy cheese (wara). However, she sold 11pieces of raw meat instead for me. There was no meat on display in her shop. 2. In a separate dream, I saw a very fat hen wearing clothes and an invisible hand picked it up. 3. In another dream, I was on my way to deliver 4 pieces of cooked goat meat to my colleague in the office when I met a blind man on my way, and gave the plate of meat to him instead. As he sat on the floor to eat it, he transformed into an average man with no traces of blindness. I felt he had deceived me with his blindness. That was when I woke up. Thanks for the good work |
