All those words in bold are Ijaw words.

What is Waboso in Ijaw?

Why should I tell you?

All the names there are names I can tell you the meaning. Knowing how you Igbos behave, I won't tell you the meaning.

People know the word "so" is associated with all the Oru .

See, all this is not necessary. The only reason you're not telling me is because you don't know what it means in Ijaw, because it is not an Ijaw name. So, there is 'so' there, therefore it is an Ijaw name? Lmao! Nonso, Isiadinso, Onyeso, etc must all be Ijaw names. Don't make me laugh, oga.

I took the liberty to try and see if I could find some Ijaws who had the name Waboso. I virtually saw none. All the Wabosos I found were Ndoki people. If it was truly an Ijaw name, it wouldn't be restricted to the Ndoki.

Waboso from every indication is nothing but a variation of the Igbo name Nwagboso. The same way Wabara is nothing but a variation of the Igbo name Nwagbara.

I am surprised you deliberately ignored the name Ida and the name Daminabo. The reason being there are popular Ijaw people bearing those names and your attempts to give it an Igbo twist wouldn't have worked.

Why are certain names exclusive to the Ndoki or Igbos close to them?

Don't be obtuse. I didn't mention Daminabo because I know it is Ijaw. There are some Ijaw names here and there in Ndoki. No one who knows Ndoki will doubt that.

I mentioned the one I knew wasn't Ijaw that you were claiming to be Ijaw. Don't deflect attention from the question I asked you, by trying to refocus attention on Daminabo. It will not work. Tell this house what Waboso means in Ijaw, since you want to claim it for the Ijaw.

Like I said before, I won't give certain informations to you Igbo because of your attitude.

So how did Daminabo and several other Ijaw names find their way into Ndoki if the people are not connected to Ijawland?

Again, who said Ndoki has no connections with Ijawland? Ijaw and Ndoki traded together at Ndoki market towns like Ohambele, Azumini, Akwete, etc. The Ndoki dialect of Igbo is still spoken in Bonny. There are connections; we all know that.

Stop these diversions you're doing here and tell us what Waboso means in Ijaw, or just swallow your pride and admit the name was never Ijaw to start with and that you made a false claim. grin

I'm going to say this here once and for all since it's still within an Ndoki-centered thread. Igboid, you know I don't care about your anti-Ijaw obsession or the incessant Ijaw-Igbo back and forth. I honestly thought you called me to that thread in good faith, but you clearly didn't. I'm tired, Igboid; too tired for your shnịnama. Going forward, just know that I am not the person you want to call into an anti-Ijaw thread, because 9 times out of 10, I will not entertain you. If you want to discuss history and transformations in language, culture and traditions, then I am your guy. If you want to go into an argument about who is and is not Igbo and what is and is not Igboland, then you have your fellow, crazed NL Igbo cohorts. You all deserve each other. So reach out to them if all you want is confirmation bias and an echo chamber. Never call me into your echo chamber. You won't like it. I won't like it. No one will like it.

I hate that I have to be identified with "Igbo" people like you. You and I have different priorities and honestly, you are second hand embarrassment. I pray your vision for "Igbo" never comes to fruition. You and your fellow nationalists are eye sores. Gala ghalagh ọghịgha.

In fact, ị ghalagh ọghịgha, arịm ọkpọkọrọ imi kpụdu gh ụvnụvnụ. And take your fellow nationalists with you.

Many times have we told you to stop bringing this inferior and outdated Jargons called language or tongues to cyberspace.

If you want to write them look for groups where you likes are domiciled and write this unholy stuffs for them there.

We have structured Igboland and how it should be run, you have no right to dictate otherwise but accept what have been gladly given to you.

Be guided... nonsense.

Juliusmalema, owhnoghowhno nnu la gh ngala di la ika maa. It’s been over ten years now on this forum. Are you people not tired? Everytime, you people want to just have my name in your mouth as though it is sustenance. ChinenyeN this. ChinenyeN that. ChinenyeN these. ChinenyeN those. Is there nothing better that you have to do? I have long since tried to move on from your collective foolishness, but you people want to keep following me. For what?

Are you people upset that I no longer want to talk to you? Are you people upset that I have moved on and no longer come looking for you? It has been years now since I last directly spoke to any of you on this forum. Have you not grown since that time? Is it foolishness or what.

For the sake of your withered and forgotten gods, leave me alone. You’re over here saying to me “at your age”, when it is at your own big big age that you want to spend ten years chasing someone on a forum when that person does not care to speak to you. This is a nonsensical obsession. At your big age. Foolishness.

I don’t know if you are Igbo or not Juliusmalema, but if you are, then you are second hand embarrassment. I hope whatever “structure” you think you have given to “Igbo” falls apart before your very eyes. At least that way you can focus your attention on rebuilding whatever it is you thought you were building and LEAVE. ME. ALONE. Owhno.

This is the last thing I will say to you here. I will NOT respond to another statement from you here. So just know that if you choose to continue replying, then you are foolishly and stupidly talking to yourself... at your big age.

I don't care about the useless language you keep speaking, it is Jargons and inferior to us...

Igboland have been structured and made what or is. The only thing you have to do is to key in... key in and not try to upset with that Jargons you keep writing here you called slavery or ohu/ohnuhu.

Yes, at your age you keep doing thing tangential to standard and stated norms in Igboland....who are you?

This is more like questioning us and the rules set. Stop writing that Jargons here, your age suppose to work with time but here you are back dating yourself to 1880's.

Your age suppose to promote and be a reflection of standard set by us....but here you are doing what I don't know?

Grow in line with your age...

You people are always looking to rob someone of their Igboness. See ehn, there are some specific things about current Igbo worldview/approach/sentiment/propaganda that I do not fundamentally agree with, and this is one of them. I speak up about them because I believe it is important to address them. If that makes me “not Igbo at heart” (i.e. not Igbo enough) for you, or if you want to devoid me of my Igboness on that basis, then very well.

You are not Igbo because no sane igbo will be speaking some sort of outdated language.

The culture we handed over to you guys shouldn't be questioned. You guys have no culture or tradition but we made igbo and put it on track you either follow it or be ostracized.

Lol. It seems you have your mind made up already. A few things to note:

•We have the western and eastern Apoi. The former in Ondo state and the later in Bayelsa state. The name of their clans are solely Ijoid. Them speaking Yoruba can be likened to the situation in Bonny and Opobo.

•Nobody claims Ofoni people are Ijaws.

•Izon is not understood by the average Rivers man. Only a few persons (mostly senior citizens) can grab some words and phrases but i still stand by my assertion that the languages are similar.

• Kalabari in Rivers state is like the central Ijoid dialect in the state in the Same vein, Izon is the central Ijoid dialect in Bayelsa and Delta. Okrika and Ibani people are not the only ones who understand the Kalabari language. From Nembe to Engenni. People understand it more than you think they do. I'm pretty sure other languages have dialectical differences as well; they can go from intelligible to almost a different language entirely. It's not unique to Ijaw.

•Speaking of Engenni. They consider themselves Ijaw just as much as the Degema people consider themselves a distinct tribe.

•Ogbia is an exception. Their language is entirely different.

•Since there's no written history of these areas, it's hard to substantiate claims. If Ndoki people have an Ijaw (Ibani) history, It's left the indigenes (especially senior citizens) to corroborate any claim.
