Sorry my Dear, just saw this now..its been long i haven't come here, cos i've been too busy, neither do i receive email notification on this

However, you need a new kompressor clutch..alternatively you can get a rebuilt one with clutch if you cant find the part. This will definitely solve your problem if you haven't solved it already. if it doesn't, just kindly let me know, there's just one more thing that could follow, i don't want to mention here yet untill you do that so that i may not sound like i am eliminating problems for you, else i believe this would definite solve your problem.

I fix my cars myself; it saves me a lot of time and money; i learnt from my bitter experience of leaving my car in a useless garage for months wasting my hard earn money and time; if i go to Mech, i tell them where the problem is and what to replace, i don't care what anybody may say after all ..in as much as i always get it right and my cars keep running all year round in top shape. Good luck
this magnetic compressor clutch which is it? The A/C or the supercherger's? because both have compressor clutch I guess?

how often does one have to top the radiator on a 2004 mercedes benz c240? i used to have a handa EOD and id check the water every morning to find it still full.. maybe needing a top up once a week or once in two weeks. the merc has been a different story i have to top every day or every 2 days.. is this normal? and there is no leak anywhere iv changed the water container which had a leak.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Nobody: 7:07pm On Jun 25, 2013
Check the container cover if ok...also check the hoses if they're well tightened or just re tighten them.

Gee2728: this magnetic compressor clutch which is it? The A/C or the supercherger's? because both have compressor clutch I guess?

The superchargers..See, its simple; uninstall the kompressor(supercharger) and take it to a specialist to rebuild for you; afterwards you install it back 'kaskia'..its no big deal trust me...Alternatively if you see a rebuilt one, you can buy and replace while you keep this one as a backup pending when you would find and replace the clutch in it..it takes years for it to go bad.You would always be given 4 years warranty

I call it kompressor to differentiate it from compressor because that's the name. I'll give you a call this night , i'm still in the office battling with some systems controls for web applications..cheers
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by auhanson(m): 5:44pm On Jun 26, 2013
My dear this issue can be very tricky. i suffered it for a whole year in my 190 until i got hold of the real problem..just change that vertical hose inbetween the water pump and the thermostat and their clips as well, both of them are week, they leak sparingly even while you park the car..if you are observant, you would notice some colouration around that vertical hose from the neck; best of it all if u use a coloured coolant. Secondly Benz demand that you leave some room for the water pump to pump the water flow else it will waste it for you through the waste pipe, next time you fill it make sure you only refill half way. let that space be half empty and check the next morning your water will still remain where it has always been. Good luck

otoidea: iv had all those replaced. js wondering how often one ought to top up abi is it a mercedes thing to fill water everytime

Hello aikerism, from the little research i think the Asian wire harness seems to be the best, i beg to differ..it dosent expire; its the type i install in my w202 c class...Check out this pdf and these sites:http://mwav.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/ASIAN-WIRE-HARNESS-ASSEMBLY-details-v092511.pdf http://www.sat-a.com.ph/sata.php,http://www.mentor.com/products/electrical-design-software/news/asia-company-reduces-wire-harness-design-cycle-time,http://www.amspecinc.com/products/Harnesses_and_Belts/search.php

My problem with 018 ECU is the code entering issues when your harness get bad, and when some unscrupulous mechanic start tampering with all sort of things in the name of diagnosing problems of code entering which is a common feature of 018 ecu dilemma. The best bet was for me to change to 015 ECU and reinstall my remote(that is my electronic, or what is popularly called central lock remote). This time around i just bought a remote from the market and install it from the trunk near the motto because i didn't want anybody to be tampering with my hood or dashboard front panel wiring anymore, also to serve me the stress of trying to trace those wires among strands of wires, and it worked perfectly well. Its simple if you just follow and try to understand the circuit diagramm of the panel you bought.

015 ECU has a far higher level of tolerance from abuses and so on than the 018 ECU(this one does not mercy you with her codes wahala..dnt wana get stranded while travelling), else your mech guy will squeeze off ur pocket with multiple scan non yielding result that will make you start hating benz for life

Its my desire to see fresh looking top shape classic or new Mercedes Benz on our street, i hate seeing ill fitted Benzes

Happy Sunday, everyone. I have been doing a lot of reading on Benz 190 since I made up my mind (courtesy of dis thread) to go for the make.
There are two versions that have taken my fancy and I need the gurus to kindly assist my naivety, pls;
I am fascinated with the 2.5-16 Evo2 and 2.6 Sportline versions of 190e, both are rare/limited edition cars which i'd love to own one.
Which shud I go for, and why, pls?
Thanks for ur needed counsel.

the bigger the engine the more complex and technical it gets. But time has since passed and I dnt think fixing 190's wld be any issue jst make sure which ever u get make sure it does not come with error code b4 u pay. Made a similar mistake on my c230k which I bought wit the check engine lights and it cost me a lot 2 fix it.

Hmm, see what I mean? There's nuthin lyk rubbing minds wit experienced folk.
How do I get to know of the error code? thru the VIN?
Also, u are yet to state ur preference of the two rides.

Evo is the benz 190 evolution just like u had the 505 evolution, fully cusmetized with body kits(that makes it so attractive to the eyes, u never can resist it because it is a show car. The evo with the heaviest kitting is the evo2, which is slightly heavier in weight and may drag at lower gear) and must be handled with extreme care to keep those kits intact all year round, both are six cylinder engine with good performance, i love them both..The evo or evo2 may be scarce so dont "greedie" for it, very few numbers were manufactured then, if u find her gud.The evolution models area a bit pricey..u may also buy the body kits with original clips and custmetized ur own evo2 from the other version, the choice is yours. If you want to remain rugged wtout worrying your head about fixing ornamental body kits, go for the other version or your 2.6 sportline.
see pictures of the evo: http://www.google.com.ng/search?q=mercedes+benz+190+e+evo+2&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8MTQUcH6K4fTPNDCgYgH&ved=0CCkQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=624

The Mercedes Benz gurus in the house i need your advice between the 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor and the 2006 Mercedes C230. Which of the 2 mentioned cars above is very OK in terms of handling and maintenance? What problems should one be looking at when using it? And in conclusion recommend the best.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by aikerism(m): 11:03am On Jul 01, 2013
Thanks Hanson and Smartchoice for the info. Eheeen Hanson does it mean dat if I change to the 015 ECU I will have to change my remote?
shocked
What is your location? How and where can I get the hong kong wire harness from?
Thanx guys for ur suggestions and responses in advance.

I drive a 2000 C230 kompressor, from my little experience I'll suggest u go 4 the naturally asperated 2006 C230 which I bliv is a V6 so u dnt have 2 bother urselfe with turbo charging issues of the C230K.aside the brake disc and pad then maybe Mass air flow meter for the C230K both cars are not heavy cost 2 maint. Pls just make sure u dnt buy a car with check engine lights ON or ESP/BAS. Make sure its fault free there's no such things as a small fault in this german machines. But honestly with each year go by the quality of mercedes built keeps droping. My over 20yrs W202 car still has its leather covering as if it was made 2 weeks ago both some of this W204 hav seats that's I worn out already I guess its profit b4 quality now.

ur car is got issue cos I bought my c230K since september last year and truthfully I have only top that water once and have never had any over heating issue.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Eyop: 4:32pm On Jul 05, 2013
Thanks very much Gee2728 for the advice. The 2005 and 2006 C230 carries same body and features apart from the change in Engine and some other little changes and also the fuel consumption on the 2005 C230 is economical compared to the 2006 but all the same i still prefer the 2006(it is quieter than the Kompressor engine)though the 2007 was also of interest to me but i do not like the wheels of the 2007 so that's why i choose the 2006. I can never buy a vehicle with a check engine light or any other warning light because i have had a terrible experience with a 2007 Toyota Matrix XR that i bought in cotonou last year and i can never venture into that anymore.

Once am ready to buy,i will pre-order directly from USA after am satisfied with the maintenance history of the vehicle. Another wahala is the bad roads in Nigeria and you know the car is low to the ground level even though it is very pleasurable to drive...

Guys i have been driving my benz for 4 years now. But right now the problem i am having is in the transmission. It is automatic. It drags too much and the RPM goes up to 35 or even 40 before the gear changes as i have to press the throttle down to effect the gear change. I have changed the gear box and even ringed the engine yet it does the same thing. If not that i loved this very brand of benz for its ruggedity and stability on the road. it would have been history. Please can someone help me out with this transmission challenge. One Love.

Guys check this funny stuff out. Met a friend sometimes back after a long time we greeted and when he saw my car(W202 C230k) he said 2 me him and his friend once had an engine of my car for sale but it was so hard 2 find a buyer. When they eventuall found a mechanic 2 buy it @ a rip off price he said its because most of the cars hardly require replacement. Long story short is that most merc engines are bullet proff and I once read a post of a guy who has driven his C230K for about 500000mile. So guys enjoy ur ride till u feel the need to upgrade.

Sorry i did not include that it is a benz 190 and i doubt if that can be scanned. The gear could not select at all (as in it stopped even if you revved the car) but after fixing a new one it started but then as i mentioned earlier you have to press down before the gear changes. Need i add, it is automatic.
