I think these people are thinking from their anus to ban snipper. If compared with the population it has saved from malaria parasites which even kill more than others deadly diseases.

Although there should look for the cause of suicide and try to solve it, at least this is a good step to show they care.
If you were in their position, what will you do anyway?
Stop coming here to rant when you know you can't do anything..instead appreciate the effort .

It seems we are all at logger heads on how best to prevent sucides and drugs addicts.
What some commentators are saying is that we can't afford banning every thing to prevent other things especially where the use of that banned items have effects to the generality of the public thus the downtrodden masses. Those leaving in posh areas don't care about snipers.
However, if the authorities believe that banning one item or the other is the solution to our problems so be it. I think they better look for permanent solution rather than fire brigade approach.

The thing is people will still commit suicide

Some people are born weak.
While others are as a result of mother raising weak kids and father reinforcing it

So we should always look out for such people
When they are facing life challenges they tend to break down
They don't heal easily from emotional trauma
Just that the world is s busy doing other things that they don't create time for this weak people

Imagine a 21 year old girl in ekosodin committing suicide just because the guy he love didn't reciprocate the love

Insensitive post, weak people indeed. Depression and other mental illnesses are the major reasons why people commit suicide. If you are not a doctor, a psychiatrist, psychologist or other medical professional you are not qualified to judge them.
Suicidal people needs help not denigration.

That is a preventative measure and that will surely deter some people from taking their own lives. It will not stop it completely but it is a good thing to take that option off the table.
There was a bridge in one the western countries where people used to throw themselves off, once they put up some barricades the number of people throwing themselves off reduced to zero.

Why...??
Hope they will ban LAGOON as well..??
Hope they will ban NOOSE..??
Hope they will ban RAIL TRACKS..?

Because people will relocate to such, although some people are already patronizing such.
The INDIANS favor RAIL TRACKS and FALL from heights

before sniper, people makes use of raw cement mixed with water as a tea to terminate their lives, sniper or no sniper suicide Will still be prevalent in today's Nigeria, instead of banning or restrict the sales of the insecticide, they should look inwardly to ascertain the cause of the upsurge of suicide in Nigeria of today, they will definitely realize that they the government are the major cause of the quagmires that lead majority to depression, now the company will lay off, some of their staffs because of these development, thereby increasing unemployment in the country.

no light for small enterprise
no work after graduation
inflation here and there

in fact to survive in today's Nigeria is now by the grace of God

it would have been better u didn't say anything instead of this your rubbish. Do u know that many Nigerians live their lives in depression because they have lost hope in life? Many want to work but no work? Many want to set up businesses but no light? Power distribution charge u estimated bills for energy they didn't supply, customers get arrested for protesting against extortion while govt watch without doing anything? Many Nigerians haven't eaten for some days,no hope for food even today. Many farmers are scared of going to farms because of herdsmen. There are many reasons that cause depression which can lead to suicide. If govt provide solutions to some of these problems, suicide will reduce by almost 98%. Next time close your mouth if u know u wanna spew thrash.
I wanted to reply him but you beat me to it. Misplaced priorities I must say. Do they realise that they have just made more people jobless because of that. Tackling the effects of sniper instead of the cause of suicide. Seriously I myself am fed up.

Next is to ban ropes then ban ceiling fans, then ban stools or chairs, then ban otapiapia, then ban knives, then ban any other thing that people could use for suicide. Its a good idea to ban snipper and ignore why people take sniper. Let's just put plaster over a festering wound and neglect the wound. That makes plenty of sense
Hahahahahaha, sarcasm suits you well.

Stupid idea from bad leadership. Fix the country. Some people are into insecticide production. What becomes their fate. Bad decision.

Banning sniper will not solve anything. There are many other alternatives out there people can use. The solution against suicide is to find the cause/reason behind it. The country is so messed up. Everything stopped working immediately the british handed over in 1960. Nobody sees a better Nigeria ahead because nothing is on ground to show that things will get better. Everybody needs hope but hope is not forthcoming. May God help us.

And while they are searching for those “alternatives” maybe something will happen to change their minds...

All i can say is NAFDAC cant think outside the box.. So if they use other insecticide it will be ban too? When u dont deal with the root worse situation will arise!!

Economy situation is the major reason..
So banning sniper wont solve a thing..

Instead of Government agencies to be problem solvers... they are becoming more creators of the monsters that cant be destroyed

God help this Nation Called Nigeria.

This is why I have always maintained that we have nut cases running the show in this country. How does this solve anything? There are a million and one alternatives to sniper. What this goons should have done is to find out the main reasons why people feel they need to kill themselves which are hunger, frustration and the naturally unloving nature of most Nigerians.
Except the root cause of most suicides which is hunger is addressed every other effort made will be like pouring water into a basket hoping it fills up.

This will not stop suicide.. God will help us in this country

That is why i create a group where we talk to the depressed, we share our problems and we talk it out even though we don't have cash to give out..

Are you depressed, need someone to talk to?, Speak up, we will hear you..
