Student life might be hectic with picnic and parties. A means of transport is quite a problem solver for those dynamic times. If you're a student, and about to get one for yourself, check out this list of 9 best cars for students in Nigeria now!

The Nigerian road safety code of conduct stipulates that you can legally start driving on Nigerian roads from the age of 18. This is because it's believed that this is the age when you make certain life decisions independently. This is also the age most people get into the university. If you're within the age range of 18 - 30 and still a student, you would want to stay trendy and boost your swag as much as possible.

One way to do that is by having your own ride. Once you can afford one, or your parents have asked you to choose what car you like, it's wise that you select an "easy to maintain" ride. Therefore, we at Naijauto have decided to bring you the best cars for students in Nigeria, helping you make an informed decision. We considered fuel economy, affordable, ease of maintaining, adaptability and swag while compiling this list.

1. Toyota Camry
This is one of the most popular car models you would find on Nigerian roads.

From the 2.2 to the 2.4 and the muscle, the Toyota Camry cars are fuel efficient and spacious. As a student, you don't need to spend your pocket money on fuel or expensive car parts when the Camry saves you fuel and the spare parts are everywhere. The Camry also has space for when you wish to convey your friends from class back home - one passenger with you in front, 3 or 4 more at the back seat.

2. Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 is not only an affordable SUV but gives you the feeling of having a "jeep" (what Nigerians nickname SUVs). This compact sport utility vehicle has just the right space to help you move cargo. If you're moving from one hostel to another, you won't need to rent a van when your RAV4 can do the job. Since the Toyota Venza was discontinued, the RAV4 has risen in sales, so buy yours ASAP!

3. Honda CRV

The Honda CRV is one compact SUV that has constantly been in competition with the Toyota RAV4. They are almost similar, though the CRV is a bit more expensive. But it adds style to your arrival when you drive one. Also, keep in mind that campus babies love SUVs. You'll find yourself hitting many birds with one stone... Sorry, one CRV!

4. Toyota Corolla

A lot of people have sought an alternative to the Camry, and many switched to the Toyota Corolla. It's more compact than the Camry and chic. It's believed to also adapt better to Nigerian roads than the Camry. But another school of thought says the car is feminine. Without sounding non-feminist, I partly agree. So if you're a female student thinking of what car would fit your personality, you should consider this ride.

No 1 should be Toyota Corolla of any model and not Camry. Toyota Camry not fuel efficient for students.

OP, you know nothing about cars. Rav 4 and CRV for students. Where are they going to get the money for spare parts? Except you are telling me they are students from wealthy backgrounds. Besides, Corolla should be first on your list; maintenance is minimal but it's expensive to purchase.

Always get your facts right before posting.

Toks or Naija used?

Anyways, i will advice you steer clear from Naija used.
But if you ask me, i think a 1998 Honda has covered so much mileage. Hence, it will need changes in parts in due course. Such replacement will definitely need a gear. Remember Hondas are notorious for gear failure.

I will advice you go for the following cars, either local used or toks:

Toyota Corolla( first lady) 1998-2000
Toyota Camry (pencil light) 1997- 2000
Golf 3
Nissan Primera
Nissan Almera
Audi A4 1998- 2000

You will find any one suitable for your budget. Either 500 to 600k for naija used and 800k to 1M for toks.

Good luck!
