When women are discussing, you will know. It's still the same lost, whether you loose it to the bank or tell your wife about it, it's still the same thing. She will either force you to spend it all through her flimsy and flamboyant life styles or she will kill you to have all the money. Best thing to do is, let her know you're banking with UBA. So, when anything occurs, she will know where to go. With BVN, they can locate other accounts. 3 Likes |

deltateam:This is also done to soldiers. I heard from one that when they are sent to fight Boko haram with useless weapons, they will be killed off. Their allowance wills still be entering their accounts. Their Soldier boss will not tell government that this particular soldier is dead and gone. So the money accumulates in the bank. The Bank and soldier Oga will withdraw it and eat everything. The soldier who told me this had just received debit alert from the bank. They thought he was dead. So he had to run to bank to show himself and investigate. 6 Likes |

deltateam:Husbands try to earn more than their wife and when she dies, it's not her money anybody wants to be struggling for. Most times, if the woman is a millionaire person, she has already kuku divorced or is doing one feminism single something. There's kuku already nobody to touch her money. So the issue concerns men mostly. |

What an interesting thread. There's no need for counter arguments left and right I suggest to all men, employ the services of a lawyer as your estate expands. Employ the services of a bank vault where documents can be saved as they grow. In case of an unexpected demise, your lawyer can gain access to your information with all the information supplied beforehand and make a declaration to the family Also, prepare a will and Renew it at least every two years. If were established enough to have properties, money and all, then engaging the services of a professional legal adviser shouldn't be a challenge. Why trying to avoid little spending at the expense of a bigger loss. Men engage lawyers, leave nothing to chance 4 Likes |

Bafemi: Which family are you talking about? The ones that are not aware that the man has money in your bank? Since you are in the system, tell us how many immediate family of a dead customer you have informed about the money wasting away in their deceased loved ones account Or how many families you have tried to trace to their address to inform them about the accumulation of money in the account of their long dead loved ones? I have people in the system who have said a lot about this same issue. You know a lot of people have died before the introduction of BVN/ phone number? Even with the phone number and all, Bank will never contact anybody to come and claim any money! Even those that are privy to such information before the departure of their loved ones go through hell before they are able to get this money. It is almost the same with stockbroking firms too. Most of the time, the next of kin give up on the stocks especially if the stock value isn't that much because of the stress/money involved in converting the account into an Estate (dead people's) account. But the best thing a man can do is to have a life insurance policy, here the next of kin will even be informed about the money in the account and to get the money, you only have to present your means of identification. But most people in Nigeria have trust issue with insurance. 5 Likes |

devlishGINGER: Bros no be so I tell you.A typical case is when Mr A's next of kin is Miss B who is the adult daughter but Mrs C who is the wife gets a letter of probate from admin gen and min. of justice through a lawyer. She claims the funds! I have seen this happen on Moreover banks will never contract the next of kin even if they know that the customer is deceased. (They need idle funds to shore up their books too) If we have to check a number of banks, you will understand what I mean. The system is so much wobbled. 3 Likes |

Unfortunately, the court official also do collude with unscrupulous bank officials. But the time you finish all the court processes which take a long time, you may be confronted with an already looted account. Nothing you can do since no-one knows the account details. By then, you would have paid all the official fees while the govt will also be waiting at a corner to deduct another percentage of the money. At times up to 30 %. It's a bad situation. Am aware that the Nigeria Senate knows about this and they promised taking action on the issue but none yet. Its pathetic. 5 Likes |

In this day and age, no one can keep a secret account any more, everything is connected to the BVN. Unless the fund is illicit then the owner would have to take deliberate steps to keep it unconnected to his/her BVN. Once your BVN or even one account is known at any bank, all the accounts connected to the owner will be known. Also, next of kin has nothing to do with who gets the money, it is the administrators on the letter of administration or Executors as stated in the will. This thing your saying used to happen, but BVN solved it. It can only happen when the family is not exposed at all. Some people have valid reasons for hiding their money from their spouses. Some wives will give you their family Bill. I'm not married, but from experience with girlfriends, I see valid reasons to keep money away. 3 Likes 1 Share |
