I repeat again. Poverty or wealth has nothing to do with substance. It is a mental state. The Holy books say, 'the poor will always be amongst you...', despite the fact that the sun will always shine and the rains come in season.

If one really wants to help a poor person he or she must be prepared to share the same software that he or she operates with to get results then substance may or may not be provided. She was in proximity to riches when her son was alive just as Nigerians are in proximity to some of the biggest mineral deposits on earth, some of the richest farm lands, some of the best weather on earth, everything, yet....

I have known folks who have inherited lands as big as small towns, properties, holdings worth hundreds of millions and yet one after the other they were lost unto penury. Nigeria does not have a culture of wealth generation to which she can tap into. Her case is a very hard one. At that age how do you begin to learn.

just looking at her pics I see yekini.

playing for Nigeria won't guaranteed that when u die they will take care of ur Old parents.

the country is not worth dieing for but still yet boko haram will use some one do suya..

God help this shit hole.

But Yekini did not die for Nigeria...
He played for Nigeria which afforded him the platform to earn wealth beyond most humans.

Nevertheless, the reason that we are here discussing the plight of this old lady and how she might be helped is precisely because Yekini played for Nigeria, and as others already pointed out there have been several other fundraisers and interventions for her. Perhaps it time to look at if there are family members/relatives taking advantage of her, because (as I often say) Nigerians are the worst thing to happen to Nigeria!

Sometimes I feel maybe people like this are just receiving the punishment for what they did years back. oh yes, it might be true, if not how can she be suffering like this and nobody is touched to help her since then and i heard she have lost most of her children too. To me this looks like a punishment. Well, I don't know anyway but that's what my instinct is telling me and my instinct don't tell me lies.

Spoke with her 2 days ago.

What we provided her could not have sustained her for long though. About N250k or so.

I heard someone won N2m for her on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire also a couple of years back. I asked her whether she got that. She said she never did. Maybe she didnt understand what I was describing.

Although she has lost most of her children, there was still one that also spoke to me when I phoned her 2 days ago. Possibly the family also share these gifts with her.
or probably she gives them all of the monies, what mothers would do for their kids u wouldnt imagine, I'm almost sure they take a bigger chunk of the monies as she's old, my 2 cents!

Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about that... grin grin grin

Personally, I feel very sorry for the poor woman and hope the state government or the NFF would render some assistance to her, but let be clear about one thing - playing for Nigeria afforded a poor semi-educated individual like Yekini (and so many others) the immeasurable opportunity to traverse the globe and earn material wealth well beyond the vast majority of human beings on this planet Earth!
>

Mind you

Yekini is not the only semi educated player in the world that had plied his trade in the field of play

I am more concerned about his/their plight considering his mates in other saner climes.

Yekini has done more than enough for Mama to LIVE WELL till she died.

After US '94, he bought Mama a house.

Yekini has houses in Ibadan and he is NOT one of those foolish players who spend on nonsense.

His death was mysterious in the hands of the family.

Nigerians have come to the aid of Mama few years ago and Yekini has done well for Mama.

Something is wrong somewhere.

I don't think Nigerian Intl players are super rich.
Why? You hardly see them helpin ppl, they don't have thriving biz during n after their football career, you hardly see them buy expensive cars or homes when they leave sport life ..

Their news always die with their careers. Once they are out of football nothing balling again.

I might be wrong or may be

You are wrong Bros, that's how they live their life. How many expensive cars did you hear that Pele has? Or Maradona? They just feel like living their life silently.

What do you mean forget? These footballers earn insane amounts of money per week.

Mikel was earning 80,000 pounds a week at Chelsea. So, they were not exactly suffering.

Old people can be funny at times, she might be feeding well and all, she might not even have to work to eat thrice daily, my Grammy is a perfect example she has properties in Lagos which her tenants pays her steady but she still no one sit down for house she still runs a shop where she sells soft drinks and all which is so unnecessary, so she’s prolly comfy with what she’s selling and perhaps was it not the same nairaland we read how she won 2million on WWTBM, Rashidi died poor he lost his fortune when his Aboki business partner got robbed And killed at Sabo since then he was never the same! He’s truly a legend make OP free him maale abeg!! Finidi George made it known that only if Rashidi yekini was learned the whole shitty stuffs could have been avoided
