While an element is  any of 100 substances which can not be split by ordinary chemical method into smaller substances eg. Hydrogen, oxygen e.t.c.

So the both are not the same cos their example differ even though element is a sub part of compound(which has their characteritics plus the bonding) it is not a compound. MEHN get your facts straight jor
