Saro wiwa fought against Biafra and was even said to have benefited from an "abandoned property" with a certain sani abacha after the war. Decades later, the development eluded his people, ogoni land and the entire Niger delta suffered from over exploitation without commensurate effort to invest in the area. He belatedly realised his folly, fought against damage of ogoniland and ended up being hung by same Abacha.

Today ogoniland and Niger delta remain a mess. lessons must be learnt from there sad story. There is no benefit in betrayal.

Only Biafra can bring glory to ogoniland, Niger delta and entire Eastern region.

The Niger Delta tribes where against Biafra because they saw the whole Biafran project as an Igbo affair.

They recalled how the Igbos quashed the Adaka Baro seccesionist plot which was in effect sponsored by both Awo and Sarduna.

The major problem leading to ND not supporting Biafra was because Gowon had promised to create separate states and also the Igbos were too paternalistic and condescending of the Niger Delta stance.

Saro Wiwa was first to be executed. The gallows didnt work on two different occasions. They then brought the others, Ken tried his best to calm them down and told them not to be afraid.
He was then taken again and he was said to have exclaimed " Spirit of the Ogoni people let me go", then he was executed.
The tape was sent to Abacha to watch the killing of his enemy.

That killing was the one singular act that destroyed any hope the world would support Abacha. He was a pariah from that time forth.

I know why you all are fixated on major Obi, I have three Rivers State friends from different areas of the state who bear obi as first name and surname, kogi has obi, so also part of cross Rivers and Delta, what happened then is highly regrettable and shouldn't happen again, that should be our forcus,I have a colleague whose uncle was among those killed by those guys, he really doesn't see Saro wiwa as a hero, mind you he could be more ogoni than you.
