Insane!
"Thankfully" our governments are "wise" enough to decide they won't have rugged and responsive emergency fire fighting teams to promptly wade in and lessen the impact of such disasters.
Our emergency response culture and readiness is so wierd and hopeless.
As usual, the people are left to sort themselves out. We can see burnt dead bodies of some victims of such avoidable calamity. Such a failed system.

In saner climes , Willie obiano should step down, no single fire truck could come to the aid of people for 5 good hrs, fire trucks had to come from neighboring Asaba .. Willie obiano you are a complete failure

government of Anambra state and I owe nobody any apology.
Tufiakwa to that government. Rubbish

*prayForOnitsha*

Tomorrow, Willie Obiano will show up at #Onitsha fire scene in dark glasses, and started pointing here and there, take pictures, promise audio money to those that lost their business, we forget and go back to our default settings.

It happens again. Repeat.

Obiano should be held responsible for this unfortunate incident. He failed those who their lives and properties to the inferno. It is a big disgrace that the fire raged for hours and the state fire service couldn’t do anything about it.
How many times did you blame you leaders in Lagos over flood or fire incidents in Lagos and other Southwest states

When a society lacks a decent sense of safety this type of disaster will always occur. Unfortunately, most of those goods aren't insured and the government will not come to any of their aid. They just have to pick their pieces together. Well, they can try to get the principal of the truck to pay for damages. Most of these trucks are too old to pull the weights they pull. People taking a stupid risk at the detriment of lives they cannot procure
It is well with them all
RIP to the dead

Most markets in Nigeria are disasters waiting to happen, A health and safety officer will scream if he sees how clustered and jam packed these markets are, unfortunately we live in a society where we only react when something unfortunate happens..Where was the fire service ??

My sympathy goes out to those who lost life and property, your state government let you down..

In what others call country, the president of the country would have arrived Onitsha after the fire.
Impeachment process on Willie Obianor, the so-called governor of Anambra state shall start shortly after.

This fire and how fire fighters did not arrive the scene hours after the fire started look very suspicious, and require official inquiry.
