if ur device has had gingerbread released for it, then the rom for it too will be.

presently, my rom is 2.34 and only the camera is not working.

we are waiting for SE to release GB for xperia in 2 weeks time, then the roms will go stable

Abeg, u go share some of those ur apps and games reach my side o. I just got my Desire S this week and I'm looking for how to take it to the next level. I don't want to root yet (i'm scared) but I want to explore the full extent or using Android un-rooted before I cross over.

Re: Android, Anyone? by 4llerbuntu(m): 9:01pm On Jul 22, 2011
@ Azanor. there is nothing to be scared about rooting your phone.

they dont burst out in flames wen rooted u know.

anyway, go to xda as lynx said. find out the pc tool u can use to flash your phone.(also a brain dead easy process of simply clicking buttons), download it, download the GENERIC ROM for your fone. not modded one.

chikena, bad as e bad, if u dont like ur fobne again or anything happens, u can simply return it to factory state.

but note, the above only applies to return ur fone to factory state if u intend to flash custom roms, which u eventually will. grin grin grin grin grin

rooting is sine qua non. i daresay ur fone is a cripple without root anyways,.

@ lynx, ehen. where the thing naw? no long tin ooooooooooooo grin grin cool cool grin grin

@Azanor,
you need to do some few things before you can start trying custom roms
1. S-Off , this can ne done with ALPHAREVX, or SUPER ONE CLICK, I used alpharevx

2.Root , This can be easily done with GINGERBREAK

You can now start exploring
, But I advice you to get enough info on whatever you want to do and be sure of d spice
Cheers

@Lynxnoon and 4llerbuntu

Thanks for the encouragement. My liver is growing everyday, maybe this coming week I'll try my luck with rooting my phone. In the mean time, I'm scouring the net looking for info on those tools u mentioned (AlpharevX and Gingerbreak). Some questions tho:
1. If I S-Off my phone, can I S-On back again?
2. Which app would you recommend for making a backup of my phone's current state just in case something goes wrong in the future?

Thanks smiley

To make a backup of your phone,you need Clock work recovery which will only work when you are rooted. To make a backup of just your applications, install Titanium backup.

Seems like development on the Virtuos Unity ROM has been put on hold for now because of some copyright issues with some other modders. undecided. Well I'm currently rocking the MIUI.US ROM and its not bad at all. Life does exist outside CyanogenMod. grin
