He's threatened they wouldn't leave because they have a military base there and if they are forced to leave, he'll give them the greatest sanctions ever. What else?

President Trump or the General whose letter was attached to the OP?

Updated:

I see that the OP was showing that the Secretary of Defence countered the attached letter.
Thanks.

See to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

War? Clear your head. This isn't the first time disagreement between countries threaten to escalate into a full-blown war. Russia-US tensions, Saudi Arabia-Iran, North Korea-South Korea, US-North Korea are all recent examples. The dust will eventually settle. The American media is doing its job fuelling it as well...

The letter does not unequivocally say that they are withdrawing. Please read again and read it well.

grin I was laughing when the puppet Iraqi Parliament voted that all foreign troops must leave Iraq. I said America would leave so that Iran will take over? Not a chance. Those mumu parliamentarians just they dull themselves as America is going nowhere, at least not after the billions they spent and the prospect of more money to be made.
They should get it into their thick skulls that America currently owns them and they ain't leaving anytime soon. At least trump has told them they will have to cough out billions if they want them to leave. These imperialists are not smiling and people. should know they are not really free cos their countries are tied to the Americans or the Europeans. And that's a fact.

Forcing who on what?

America spent a lot on Iraq, the lost men and women in Iraq, they built a multi billion dollar military bases in Iraq.

Who is going to pay for all that? You? Or your big empty head?

So Iraq should pay up and America would leave.

Iraq never solicited the help of the US. They took the risk and should bear the repercussions. The only police in the world who force themselves on sovereign nations...

You didn't even take your time to read the news, you only read the letter. The letter is old news.

Trump is saying they would not leave because they have an expensive military base in Iraq and if they are forced to leave, Iraq would be terrible sanctioned in a way never seen before. They also have to pay for their military base and its maintenance they've carried out over the course of the years.

America it's digging her Pit Gradually nobody strong pass. Small Nation can defeat a big Nation. Once you don't dance to the Tone of America you're either a terrorist or a Tyrant. Suliemani labeled terrorist a man that fought ISIS but America who supports the Kurds and other terrorist organization are called Allies. The same country who preach about rule of law Bastardize it because of free oil and selling of Arms. Karma will surely hit every country the Greater your Evil the bigger your repercussion, You can't cause war using people's children as bait and Enrich your country.

Apart from the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Iraq government formally invited US special forces to help battle ISIL/ISIS in 2014.

The US already pulled up field combat operations before then. They were only training local forces

Trump said for them to leave Iraq must pay for the air base built with billions, he forgot to add that the money came from years of stealing Iraqi oil and gold reserves. Now he is in Syria uninvited and has openly informed the world that he is there to extract the oil, $45m worth of oil every month, this is international banditry

Nobody forced or begged USA to enter Iraq. They lied their way into Iraq because of her oil. They claimed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and used it to invade Iraq only to discover later that there were absolutely no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

They killed Saddam over lies. Bombed Iraq over lies. Killed thousands of Iraqis over lies yet want to be compensated?

Trump is mad.

Iraq has lost its sovereignty. Those who support the U.S. in this brutal show of force should know that have no inclination with Israel, it was Lybia, Syria, Afghan and presently Iran, it could be Nigeria tommorow.

Nigerians are too religious and uninformed to see it's not about Muslim and Christian. Even the Israel you so support has more Muslim population than Christians.

Nope. The US SAID they were invited. I never saw the Iraqi government acknowledge they invited the US to help out in fighting terrorism... Or did I miss the news?

Let's stop this foolish talk. The Obama invasion of Libya gave you what you knew as the militant Boko Haram for years. A world war will affect you even if you live inside the toilet. Also remember Iran has used our ports many times to ship weapons into the country. Don't be silly

Many of them don't have an idea what they are talking about. All they do is hate on America.

There is never a time in the world when everybody would be equal. Never! Moreover, life doesn't work that way. If everybody is equal then nobody will lead and when nobody leads there is bound to be more chaos than when there is a more powerful leader.
African kingdoms (even in present day Nigeria) fought themselves to a standstill, conquering and annexing other kingdoms before the Whiteman came. Today in Nigeria tribes are still clandestinely trying to colonize each other.

If the Arab or Persian world ever held superpowers in this modern times of the fanatical religion they practise, they'd nuke everybody before you could blink your eyes. When Arabia and Persia held the balance of power in ancient times, they practiced their traditional religions and were a far better people. Not now anymore.

If North Korea had some fanatical religion like them they'd be worse than they are today.

Sane people prefer America's madness (they have to be because of the crazy world they are dealing with) to Middle East fundamentalist rule any day anytime!

Who invited them to Iraq during the invasion? They set up their military bases to protect their interests in Iraq. If they are demanding money for the cost of setting up their military bases, let them carry them put for head and leave.

You decide to lay with a COBRA, this is what you get! This is HOW Africa was colonized. They came in as peaceful allies , soon they start taking over our lands and claimed they cannot leave because they have invested heavily in Africa. Now China is moving in with the connivance of corrupt African Politicians. Signing huge loans that will make us perpetual debtors. Never sleep with the devil NO MATTER the circumstance!

You people aren't seeing the show of shame in these nonsense. You conducted an airstrike in another country without their knowledge, assassinated a foreigner on their own land, same land you've occupied for so many years in the name of fighting the taliban and Al Qaeda but theres been nothing to show forth for it. Now they are telling you to leave but you are saying you can't leave until they pay for your air bases and refund all the money you've spent (na them send you) you people have failed to see the fact that the us has turned themselves to a big bully. They've been bullying everyone for several years and everybody dey look. Even countries like Russia who can shut them up aren't saying anything.

Meanwhile the African fools that have never stepped out of their villages will die for the profanity- fueled CHRISTIAN man. Mind you, I am an army reservist here in US for almost a decade so I know my oranges on this issue.
