Tinubu is right, regional Militia is dangerous, moreover there are no constitutional entities as regions in Nigeria . States can by legistion form a neighborhood support for the Federal security services.

LegendHero:
What is the noise about?

Tinubu never condemned Amotekun and he is just offering advice to the SW governor on how to make it more effective.

What the bleep is wrong with Nigerians and why can you not see he is on the right side?

That’s how an elder statesman should talk.
.

Most of these illiterates like beating drums of war, once it start, they will be the first to seek refugee status in Benin Republic & Cameroon.

They should ask about 1st Biafra war, the Belligerents are history today, over 3 million lives where wasted. During the 2nd Biafra the leader ran away like a mouse, again just like the 1st war. Nigerians we need the wisdom of our elders in this trying time. God bless Nigeria.

Another reason I respect Tinubu. He stated the obvious facts:

1. Amotekun must stay, modifications will be needed to make it more effective.
2. Governors erred by not consulting the AGF.
3. AGF erred by condemning the initiative instead of dialogue.

Not unexpected submission from BAT. This must have been a very difficult time for him to react, with respect to the pressure, coming from the media.

The fact that he's reacting now makes his position inconsequential to the scheme of things. The Omoluabi Governors (excluding his clique-Dapo,Sanwo and Oyetola) aren't backing down. Those who matter have made their position known and it's no going back on AMOTEKUN

We move!

Don't be myopic and emotional about it.
Good and wise leaders don't blindly take sides, they look for what is wrong and address it. He faulted the two sides and also approve Amotekun while stating what system should be employed for a viable operation of the program.

This is not about taking sides, this is about making this right.

He already to sides by trying to be neutral on the matter....his friends in 2015 said (if any yoruba vote for GEJ; they would be bastards).

De-regionalise Amotekun.

Pass a bill to your state assemblies to legalise it.

Inform the AGF for information sake.

Anything else

So you know Central command doesn't make things work effectively? And you are not supporting restructuring
Re: Amotekun: Tinubu Faults South-West Governors & Malami by googi: 2:27pm On Jan 22, 2020
No matter how you try, Tinubu supporters cannot winggle their way out of this.

Anyone that can throw his own mother under the bus to capture Lagos, would drive a hot shaft through his mother.

He worked with Igbo to sell out the Speaker to Tambuwal.

He sent Dawudu to his grave in regret for supporting him instead of Funso Williams.

Just wait, you have not seen the last of Yekini Amoda Ogunlere from Iragbiji, Osun State.

The SW governors should have meet with the AGF, before the launch of Amotekun and the Job description of the officers. The federal govt has a plan for state police. This measure will tackle the insecurity again would be taking care of indirectly by FGN

My opinion though

No to bullies, states can be bullied; but a collection of states cant be bullied....when Lagos state took money and invested in jigawa state for rice cultivation it was cool...today states want to collaborate on insecurity its turn to regional militia...

Tinubu disappoints me sha. He really isn't coming across as progressive as I had been led to believe.

He was a different guy in nadeco. Now he just wants to be politically correct.

Dissapointing

This is still the Tinubu of Nadeco, straight to the point and never taking sides because of considerably flaws in human nature.

A good leader don't blindly take sides, they address what's wrong and approve what's right. In the statement, Tinubu proposed a better system for the operation Amotekun, he said instead of regional control, it should be state control.

As a politician and a Political leader, you should expect him to be an internal operator rather than a public one. There is still an iota of posibility that he was fully aware of Amotekun before the launching, but only playing the game of politics with the north on this matter, a person who has a presidential ambition is expected to be like that.

Nonetheless, your expectations of him to take sides in support of Amotekun is presumably ethnical in nature and needs to be checked.

As far as I'm concerned, the approach he took is the best a wise leader should take.

Is either a leader chooses to do good or evil
And then face it's repercussions

The Op's updated version from Punch can be misleading because it does not include the complete text of Tinubu's submission, rather it only removes inflammatory aspect and amplifies them for sentimental reaction purposes. The full text of Tinubu's release is on the nation website. It is longer and more complete than the Punch released versions.

This is more like it.... I wonder why some pple see tinubu's ambition as their bane. The man has said the truth and solution to the impasse but the trouble makers and short sighted pple won't see it that way. He talked about the importance of Amotekun and also said it's functionality will hugely depend on carrying the attorney general along. How else were they suppose to carry the AGM along if not by engagement and discussions. Tinubu remain the wisest of them all jare. He already has my vote come 2023. Funny thing is those insulting him now will benefit more from his presidency. Its on record that it was his govt that elevated pple from other states, especially the east, to positions of authority in Lagos state more than any other administration.
