a friend of a friend is asking me to marry him so he can get his american papers(as i am a us citizen), he is offerin me 10k usd, i have been asked this many times by other people and have always declined, however i am wondering if i decide to do this.(since being in canada and now going through canadian immigration i now understand and feel sorry for people who have a hard time getting their status).what are the risk and what are the steps , i am not wanting to be inconvenienced and of course would be scared of doing fraud, a friend of mines who is a nigerian guy just married a white lady for his papers and he says that it is not a big process, well any information, or thoughts is welcomed,

i wont tell you not to do it because i know how hard it is for folks and i wont tell you to do it either because like i said it's illegal.

@op There is nothing wrong with it, I helped female friend and the process lasted 2-3 years. I guess it's all depends on your state. You need to talk to immigration lawyer for more detail. I hate doing it for money, it's either I do it for help of friendship sake or it's for real.

Dont do it. Your own wedding day will lose its specialness for sure. Plus it is illegal as others said so it is fraud. Committing that sort of fraud here comes with a jail sentence. Its very serious. You will always be 'divorced' What happens if you meet the man of your dreams. How will you explain. Be very careful. Check out the punishment then decide. I dont know about where you are but here its very difficult and people doing what you are thinking have made it a nightmare for those that really are in love. My friend just spent over a year trying to get fiance visa. Not being able to be with the man she loves cos people who have no respect for the law have screwed it for everyone else. Typical. Cost them so much money, stress, drama, time, etc. Marriage is a sacred thing not a business deal.

i had a spell in the UK then 2007 summer with a girl who wanted me to marry her and this would have given me the worshiped papers your friend is dying to have,but i declined cos i want to be married once and not twice.
I will say dont do it, its a crime and punishable by law, with time if he messes up his life,you will be linked to him,whether you like it or not cos they usually do since they believe this paper is the foundation of their life.

.first off i am not nigerian, not everyone on this site who is from africa is nigeria, secondly umm yes i am a us citizen i came to the us when i was 7, hope this answers ur question, also did u sit down to think and use ur mind that someone would not ask another person to help them for their paper if they were not a citizen of that country

well from what i know most people get divorced after the person get their paper, so u get divorce and that's that i guess
