Keep Okada but return Keke Marwa - Lagos Commuters appeal you to Sanwo-Olu (Video)

Lagos Commuters appeal you to Sanwo - Olu to review the ban on the operations of motorcycles and tricycles, popularly called Okada and Keke Marwa respectively.

Madam Hellen Akpede, who said she had trekked from Iyana Agege en route Berger Bus Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway pleaded with the governor to reverse his decision on the operations of Keke Marwa, as they make life easy for the masses.

Another commuter said that the stress of the ban was too much on Lagosians.

A student, Odegbile Abdul lamented the hike in transport fare as a result of the ban.

He said, "This ban on Keke Marwa has really affected me because a trip that used to be N50, they (commercial bus operators) have started calling it N100 and there is no other substitute for it. I will like to appeal to Sanwo-Olu to return the Keke Napep."

Sanwo-Olu, are you listening?!

Listening fire....

Those keke are greater and advance nuisance than keke. Neither keke nor okada should come back. Rather,we prefer more buses, even that korope is better but we want more buses, effective rail, from light to heavy duty rail, we want more ferries, we want even choppers and footers but never okada or keke napep

When okada was banned keke came, now that you asking for keke to be returned who do you think would ride it? Both should be totally scrapped, don't you guys see the security breach that's everywhere.

Modernization comes with a price. The pain for development is always temporary.

Lagos State is trying to expand the ability to meet with the ever expanding population and if not done right would leave the state looking like a big pile of rubbish.

Transportation has to be done right if the state is to ensure increasing population would not destroy her

The more Keke or Okada on the streets as an answer to increasing population and desire to meet their transportation needs would be counterproductive.

Okada and Keke should remain off the roads in the areas already declared banned

I always laugh when I see comments like this. Okada and keke didn't just appear for no reason. They appear because they satisfy a need which was not in anyway satisfied before. They helped solve a problem. Do the problem still exist? YES! Is the government doing anything to solve those problems? No!!!! Can the ban eliminate the problem? No!!!! As long as this problem remain unsolved, keke and okada will appear once again. This ban is just something scratching the surface of a deep problem without attempting to solve it, something merely cosmetic. It won't last. A government who promised metro Line in 3 years and couldn't deliver it now or in a foreseeable future, a government who destroyed Lagos badagry Expressway and couldn't fix it in over 5 years woke up and ban okada. Senseless and irresponsible government supported by myopic and selfish individuals. Ban on okada and keke won't work. If right things are done, these modes of transport will disappear on their own when they don't satisfy any need and are no longer in demand.

Do you know the person banding Keke is children is in oversea while himself don't know what is means to hozo. A whole family depend on this Keke for survival.besides is Keke not a vehicle like every other vehicles? Keep spewing trash it is best thing the governor has done because it doesn't affect. You go to church on Sunday and be biding and casting when you don't have simple sipathy for your common God is watching.binding Keke will not solve the problem ask your self this question was Lagos not experiencing traffic before the introduction of keke

No, Nigerians and their foolish thinking. If you want to know why Nigeria is a mess, look at the general reaction to this ban.

The streets are clearer and safer, yet some mumus here still want Okadas and Kekes back on the road.

Mtchew Nigerians

Rickshaws, commonly called Keke napep are used in cities more modernized than Lagos. Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and many other places use rickshaws as a node of transport.

Stop talking crap, I have never seen a rickshaw in Paris or Tokyo. Except as a prop in a shop or indian themed restaurant...

Please what has Lagos State done? Simple railway at CMS since 2017 it has been like that, tramway at Victoria Island is just a signboard and empty land. Please what are we modernising?

It is a typical Nigerian government disorder, treat the symptoms while ignoring the cause. The moment modern transportation solutions (trains, ferries, double decker buses) are put in place, motorbikes and tricycles will simply disappear. It is not rocket science.
Also, the Lagos State government are supposed to regulate buses (danfo) and taxis. It is a security risk to allow individuals to wake up, purchase a vehicle, and start transporting people. Regulation is the answer, not a blanket ban.
