Jesus wept! I cant believe that we are even discussing this . . .I believe that we will win Barca ,
Ofcourse its football and anything can happen over 90mins but Im curious, is your belief based on your faith in AW or the quality of the players?

@Proudly9ija

I surely wont miss Denilson . . .

For me its more of sentiments. I follow him off the field (twitter and youtube vids) and he seems to me like someone who's enjoying his stay at Arsenal. He's the less flambouyant version of Eboue at the club.
As per his contributions on the field, I agree he has not cut it for us at all but I also believe its because of the role he's been asked to play. The Denilson I saw some years back playing in the CC for us in the 'Cesc' role seemed to me at that time as the right replacement for Cesc and not a DM as he's been asked to play now.

@ proudly9ja,

i agree, Denilson is a natural CM than a DMF. Why Wenger continues to play him out of position, i dunno.

Re: Denilson rumors. I dnt see him going anywhere, he is the only back up to Song. If he does, we get a new DM. Make of it what you will.

Re: CL, just like Debo, my biggest regret is that Bayernmunshit have escaped us. Anyways we just might meet them later, I believe jus like Doctor, Barca isn't invincible. Reminds me of the feeling of total hoplessness folks where peddling when we got Galacticos1. And then they came and saw the el presindente Eboue.

Los Galacticos were on the wane when you lot got em'. They had Ramos and lawd knows who in defence, Gravesen and an out of form zidane in midfield(this time you'll have Xavi and Iniesta running rings round you lot), and a slightly overweight and out of sorts Ronaldo upfront(this time you'll have an Inform Messi slicing and dicing your defence like no man's business).

Dzeko? I also heard you want to sign Ronaldo, Messi, Pele and Garricha.

Deluded people, Do you think Dzeko would waste his time listening to offers from your useless clubs? Bigger clubs like Milan, Real and Bayern have courted Dzeko Arsenal sef show face.

He was good when he trialled with us in pre-season and got good reviews, pacy and good with both feet I think, we almost lost out on him when he broke his leg on trial at Ajax after he concluded his trial with us. Still at least a year away from first team integration.

I would place both Wellington and Galindo ahead of him in the development curve though. I think Arsene is working on the wide positions as we have so many good and young CM type players. With Miyaichi and Wellington we seem to be getting more pacy Theo type wing players (with better touch and technique IMO), within the next 2 years, I expect at least one of these 3 (Watt, JET, Wellington, Miyaichi) to become first teamers.

I'm of the opinion the idea was to get Wellington into the first team as quickly as possible but the FA seems to have put an end to that. How they could give Damien Martinez a work permit and then deny Wellington beats me.

eldee, you're OYO. don't go and stir up a hornet's nest o. If we win this one, it might be considered deserving of a parade round North London in itself with the way that team is playing. A team that beat a Mourinho coached and free spending RM 5-0 is deserving of every respect it gets and if we somehow turn them over then it might well be the upset of this season.

No wahala General Slim, yu know I'll still go on supporting our boys, whatever happens and I'll never say we can't beat Barca, we stand behind our lads always. But a team that has 3 of its players on the final shortlist for the Ballon D'or is worthy of respect, we are well on track to get to those levels but we aint there yet.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by proudly9ja(m): 11:15pm On Dec 18, 2010
I think the best we can do as fans is to show respect to Barca and hope the boys don't show any respect come match days 1 and 2.

I don already declare on facebook say come end of May, the EPL title will be at the Emirates and I don receive enough yabs from you all know who. I'm ok with that but that's enough risk I can take. For the Champ's league, Im prepared to wait till match day.

I'm surprised Wenger hadn't signed a Japanese kid all these years since Inamoto played briefly for us in the early 2000's.

Wishing the boy good luck - the more nationalities come in, the less powerful the French parapo becomes. grin

@Dr Kit
I nor share your sentiments on the Barca tip ooh! It would be a miracle of Lazarian proportions for us to beat Barca. Make we no deceive ourself for here! I am a diehard Gunner and would still support my team that day hoping for the best but expecting the worst because it would take divine intervention for a team with lower quality and a tactically inferior coach to play and win Barca! We go most likely wan follow them taka unto who sabi knock ball pass and that may be our biggest undoing!
Me I don't know where you get your confidence from oh as I don turn to Femi wonder wonder for here as to why a team that thrashed JM's Madrid by 5 goals shouldn't be feared! As to how our assemblage of chokers would fare against the winners at Barca! I know you cant stand em but IMO we got the worst possible draw

As for Song. Wenger just wan spoil that boy career! I look no further than Eboue when I remember the pitfalls of his so-called experiment! With a shaky goalie a central back pairing of Kosileyin and Squilla and the erratic Clichy I don't know why Wenger would still insist on Song bombing forward! It makes no sense in heaven and on earth
With the attacking options we have Song should be more of an auxiliary CB to add some steel to our porous backline. Wilshere and Denilson lack the defensive abilities to man that position when Song bombs forward

I wouldn't even mind if we resort to using our usual Champions league line up for the semis of the Carling and then in reverse use carling cup squad against Barca(when it eventually comes). If we get trounced, which i suspect we will, we can blame it on the inexperience of the youngsters.
Besides like debo said, only one team'll lift the CL in May, 2011, and if it's not going to be us doing the lifting then aurevoir europe. A bird in hand they say is worth 7. . , Carling cup is there and shay be low lives like dayo and chico want trophies abi ?

and who said the one team cannot be us? There is sense in the theory you stated but we cannot achieve anything like that.

The last time i checked no team has won the 2011 UCL yet and all of the 16 teams left has equal opportunity to win it, however it will go to the team who try/play the most.

Life is step by step.

What a tosser. So you want to win a trophy because of what others say not because you think you should?

BTW, When I mention trophies I dont refer to silly tournaments like to Worth-Nothing or Milk cup.

Any cup you want must have its equivalent in other leagues.

Win either CL, League or FA cup shikena.

Yes in block letters. Wasn't the same baca, madrid, milan, united, arsenal, chelsea all in the CL when fc porto won it? Wasn't france, england, holland, italy in the same EURO 04 when greece won it?

Again, ALL teams are liable to win it.

You're very right, footie is always full of surprises. Only thing I can say about the match is that it will be a spectacle yet again with surely a lot of goals and here I am hoping we'lll be scoring a lot and going to the next round. And just maybe, as one can only hope, beating a team of this quality can help this present crop get the confidence that they could beat anyone like those teams that beat the galacticos RM, Juve and AC Milan in the past.
We just need to get the balance right. In the past, we didn't have the strength in depth but could put out a team that could beat anyone on a given day, now it seems we have the strength in depth but a first 11 that so far has been unable to win the big games that make yu look like a great team.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by dipo2much(m): 7:42pm On Dec 19, 2010
Therez still a lotta time btw now and Arsenal/Barca match day. If the team can start grinding our more wins at home,we could improve in confidence and shock barca. The last time they came to our home,we played 2-2 and the team then was nothing near what we have now. I believe,at least, that we can beat them at the Grove. If we can do that,we will go to Camp Nou with a feeling of superiority and people would be less surprised than they are now if we eventually knock Barca out. The CL is NOT over for us

Go G'ers. We are right here!!!
