In as much as she demonstrated courage in the past, I wish her well.
From the onset, she does not enjoy the confidence of Mr. President and Mr President was wise enough to ensure that all delegated work given to her was detailed to her Minister of State who obviously took over her job. She has long overstayed her welcme. She brought no value to the cabinet of GEJ and the years she spent in the cabinet was her worst in recent times.

But beyond that, I wish her luck and obviously wish to see her on the floor of the senate, there and then she will know the difference between khaki and leather. The differrence of being in the ruling party and in APuGA.

But I think she will jump ship and go back to PDP soon after the election!

Madam Rebranding, Madam 9ja,

Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish!! I'm happy she's leaving the Ministry Of Information and communication for good; she's not effective in that ministry at all! The useless Rebranding project she embarked on which billions of Naira were invested has yeilded nothing positive. Abegi, make she go find another Job do Jare!

Ryhmz, Maverick, Omo Ibo et al, I think you guys are spot on.

So much so for Dora's declaration. Accusations of back stabbing, sell out, even to the extent of rubbishing her acclaimed stint with NAFDAC due to her quest for vengance (very laughable and !d!otic assertion), bla bla bla, yada yada yada

People don't seem to understand the dynamics of Nigerian politics. She has looked GEJ in the face, threw in the towel and declared for APGA-that calls for guts and not name-calling.

The Anambrarians will decide and not disgruntled comments on NL by armchair desktop and laptop posters.

Come next year, many folks will still be here, acclaimed champion posters, critisising, debunking, banning, unbanning, inserting quotes and smiley while Dora will be where she is set to get, fulfilling her destiny and that of her people.

Asi na onye na alo onye kalili ya anya bu nkili ka o na ekili ya

First of all, it is important to note that this is more of a goodbye speech and as such courtesy demands that it be patronizing. The speech was meant for FEC and GEJ. If you were resigning your current post in your company for a competitor, will you not be patronizing at least to make it palatable for your boss. The problem with some of us is that we never place ourselves into situations before criticizing others. If you were Dora, will you tell GEJ that you are leaving because PDP is a bad party, that PDP is a sinking ship, or that APGA is a better party? That would be arrogant to say the least. If she had said so, the same people criticizing her speech would have still gone ahead to criticize her. The speech is just diplomatic if you know what that means.

As for her joining another party, it is a well known fact that there is no one PDP in Anambra State. There are too many factions of PDP in Anambra that PDP is now a liability to any contestant. It is also on record that she made attempts to reconcile the party in the state to no avail. So what do you expect her to do? Remain with a group of self serving politicians or join a more organized group. She should have joined ACN, but I think she may have made political calculations and went for APGA instead. My guess is that she may be eyeing the gubernatorial seat in Anambra State. APGA will have a vacant seat next term, but Ngige may still be interested in ACN next term. This may have informed madam’s decision.

Dora is a shining example for Nigerians to follow. If up to 100,000 Nigerians can have the courage and discipline of this woman, Nigeria would have been a better place. We need people like her in the senate so I support her decision.

It's interesting, this is the same attack by Yorubas on any Igbo they deem promising, be it Dora, Ken Nnamani, Soludo, Ekwueme, Okadigbo, Iwealla, Ezekwesiri, call it fear factor or Igbophobia.

. . . but don't worry, one day, an Igbo will be there to silence you all.

It is funny that most of the people criticizing her are non-igbos. . Lol. .some people just ooz with hate that it impairs their ability to think without prejudice.
Good thing there is that it is not up to any of you to stop her, it is useless and a waste of time arguing with hypocrites that will never budge even when they are obviously contradictory. Facts are very sacred, opinions they say are free. Anyone can conjecture any nonsense in their feverish mind and then try to pass it as facts, you might confuse and manage to wow some undiscerning minds but the discerning ones wont be flustered, they will judge both the merit and demerit of any point and reveal intents based on fact. The People against Dora Akunyili have always relied on perceptions they cook up in their minds, they are quick to give their own analysis of what they think she is up to, every move the woman makes has been a hot subject of very partisan scrutiny even when there is no proof of any wrong doing based on fact. Some People have surreptitiously developed a different tenets for the woman to live by. What exactly is the woman's sin? Enough of the mind readings and stupid telepathic analysis of the woman's actions and intents, if anyone has any concrete evidence of the woman's wrong doing let them come out, the peopl of Anambra will not judge her by your unrealistic standards and expectations. To hell with all these immature rants, character assassinations and shifting of goal post to gather and score your own points, if you all do not have any tangible evidence(besides the nonsense the little angel and the demon dancing makosa on both sides of your shoulders tell you) then hold your myopic views to yourself and stop trying to ram it down the throats of the majority of Anambarians and people who vehemently do not agree with you. Stalking every post that has Dora Akunyili's name written on it wont change a thing, you lot will just give yourselves high blood pressure with the way you let this woman contol the blood flow to your hearts and heads.

Perhaps because most of her die-hard supporters are blindly following her just because they belong to the same ethnic group?

I wonder if that's what IBB's aides told him after seeing all the negative comments on his facebook page?
Actually though, it's up to some of us to stop her. She's vying for an elective position.

Facts? What facts? It's not a secret that she was totally useless as an Information minister, her expensive 'Rebranding' campaign was Dead on Arrival (something everyone could have told her). Her role in the Ekiti election drama took a huge chunk out of her credibility. I won't even mention how silly her speech against the use of 'naija' was.

The same person that's telling the corrupt members of the FEC that they are her 'immediate constituency' is the one you expect us to admire?

This is the reason Nigeria has no hope. This ethnicism monster would consume us from the inside out until there is nothing left! Most of these people that pick up their matchetes as soon as they hear the name Dora Akunyili are simply inspired by their Igbo hate. I find no good reason to despise this woman, none. 'They' say her efforts to rebrand naija were futile, and that she was wrong to ask us to stop using 'naija' in official matters. Wow, what heinous crimes! No wonder she is so despised in a particular part of this country.

This letter is rubbish, highly un-professional, imagine mentioning money in your resignationg letter? This gives a hint of "I want people to give me something" or saying I will be in the senate? As if it has already been decided that she will be elected? And the English is terrible is this woman really a professor? Or does she proof read her species? It's a shame.
Re: Saharareporters: Dora Akunyili's Resignation Letter by rhymz(m): 8:59am On Dec 16, 2010
Mr Tex,
What exactly was her role in Ekiti?
I still remember the whole drama that played out in Ekiti state my friend. The Resident Electoral commissioner, Mrs Adebayo Ayoka suddenly disappeared when it was time to announce the results of the re-run election in Ekiti state which was majorly btw Segun Oni(PdP) and Dr Kayode Fayemi(AC). She claimed she was being forced to announce fake results and then chickened out. What kind of leader does that? Her disappearance was all political and not because her conscience wont let her do what was wrong, she almost plunge the state in chaos. Let's not forget that both AC and PDP were fighting dirty in that election. Dora Akunyili made an announcement in her capacity as the Information Minister and urged her not to truncate the democracy the govt was trying so hard to build with her sudden disappearance rather she should come out and tell her own side of the story. So tell Me, Me Tex what did she say again that made her lose credibility? It was very obvious that Mrs Ayoka allowed herself to be pushed around not just by the Powers that be in the PDP but also in AC. For instance, Mrs Ayoka went into hiding on saturday after the re-run, Fayose on Monday, April 27, 2009, said on Adaba FM radio that he was in constant touch with Mrs. Adebayo. Fayose even volunteered to release her telephone number to the public. It was also published in The Nation newspaper of Monday, April 27, 2009 that Mrs. Adebayo spoke with one Mr. Omolayo who claimed to be the Ekiti State chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA). The said Omolayo is an ally of Fayose.
The funny thing about the whole drama was that the news of the resignation was broken only by the media owned by Bola Tinubu, which are Adaba 88.9 FM based in Akure, Ondo State, TV Continental and Radio Continental 102.5 FM based in Lagos.
I will leave U to do the maths and decipher for yourself who was playing who. According to securhty reports then, It was gathered that Mrs Adebayo's son and another native of Ekiti State were the lead actors in her sudden disappearance. They were also very close to the AC (Action Congress) candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
In all of these, where did Dora Akunyili go wrong? The woman was the information minister thus she was privy to classified information that gave her the impetus to go ahead and called Mrs Adebayo to order before she would cause an avoidable blood bath in Ekiti with her dilly-dallying politics. Why do you think the late President ordered for her arrest if she refused to show up? And all of a sudden she showed up and denied the resignation letter. One thing was very clear in all that transpired, Mrs Ayoka Adebayo was not a courageous woman, neither was she not complicit in all that happened. Blame her and the politicians that messed it up, Dora was just doing her Job just like Oluremi was Obj's mouthpiece aid in his first tenure.

Re: Saharareporters: Dora Akunyili's Resignation Letter by Reference(m): 9:51am On Dec 16, 2010
I think it is up to the electorate to decide her future. If they feel she is the best candidate and will further their interests considering her clout (which she definitely can) why not. Remember this is her first time seeking elective office and has done comparatively well in her previous posts. Ribadu is doing the same thing and incidentally both have decided to join the opposition so we should give them a 'C' for courage. And 'C' because I detect a whiff of 'godfatherism' in her pandering to Peter Obi.

Politics is a game and she is playing it well with all possible permutations and combinations. She is aiming at a more prominent position. If she contest on the platform of PDP in Anambra State, she is sure would not make it to the senate. So, the plan to enter through APGA into the senate and find her way to the top(Majority of the members are not returning). If not easy, i mean if the senate is full of PDP. She decide to cross d carpet again. Thats the game. Goodluck is aware of the plan. they are trying to hijach the house from hoodlums and no-bodies tha full the senate. That sure is politics, patriotism and not betrayal.

I do wonder how you were able to decipher the ethnic orientation of people on a public forum from their handles. Or do you just assume that since they are against her, they definitely wouldn't be Ibo as Ibos should naturally support her?

I think you are in fact the one that is ethnically biased rather than those you are trying to castigate.
