Without any database to know the number of Nigerians (other countries have schemes like civil IDs, social security numbers etc.), this can not work.

FG should start by having a good data based identification for all Nigerians before going for something like this.

Civilization is a long process but should begin with just a step.

Thanks Dr Oloriegbe. This is what I expected from Saraki but as usual. I wished the Senate will act on it.
It is welcome idea. Nigerian are paying much more for health n ironically those that very rich are paying very little

The truth is that subsidizing health is better than subsidizing petrol (which is fraudulent in the first place)

What's the point of health insurance with the poor state of our hospitals?

Where are the doctors? Where are the equipment?

People do not even fully utilize or know their rights under third party car insurance then you want to add health insurance. The only winners here will be the health insurance provider who will collect premiums and never make any payouts

Senator Oloriegbe is ill informed. Maternity admission or treatment is already made free in all PHCs all over the country, anti-natal is free also, hence lack of health insurance couldn't have been the cause of high natality.

General insurance is for those who have a positive balance sheet and not those who live from hand to mouth as the most Nigerian do.

This can only work IF health insurance is ridiculously cheap naturally, not on the basis of being subsidized by government, that will be another way to make the government poor the more.

Other way is to make sure available medicine and medical facilities are in good shape. Combat importation and sales of fake drugs as well

If only this Oloriigbe knows this much.

If you believe a day will come when the poor will have access to either free healthcare or subsidized healthcare you are a fooooooooooool because even the clinic in Aso Rock lacks little things

Be guided, you comment is not true. All treatment in Public Healthcare Centers offers free treatment for children and pregnant women, if at all you were asked to pay, it would be for the sale drug or some ridiculous amount you cannot compare to what you will pay at a Private Clinic.

Have you utilized any of these "free" services in Nigeria? People should fear God and say the truth.

Health is important but there are other issues that lead to ill-health such as joblessness, hunger, poor economy and trepidation arising from insecurity.

What is health insurance

Explanation;

1. The Insured is the Individual or Government

So the insured will pay a small amount which the insurance company will use to effect the contract for a whole year to cover the insured medical bills in the hospitals or clinic.

It's a good proposition and it will go a long way in helping Nigerians. But i doubt it if those shallow minded senators from the poverty infested North understands shit about this.
Little do i wonder, that this is coming from a southern senator and not another senator who thinks having four wives is worth boasting of.
he is a northern senator as well, from kwara state.
