Very true especially in the west where they don't have pipe borne water, they drink from untreated wells which is worst during rainy seasons due to poor drainage.
Everything drains into the wells and they keep drinking from it smiley

Before nko? Since mid-80's, Nigerians have been OYO when it comes to water.

I just can't imagine how our leaders will be proud to know they can't just open tap and drink water. It's like they didn't grow up in modern ages. They are able to buy bottle water or their own filtration, and it's OK... no pride in yourself as a black man to provide for your own people.

My undergraduate project was on quality of water supply in Southwest Nigeria (research findings already published). More than 70% Nigerians lack access to potable water and suffer water borne diseases frequently. Anyways, our government isn't bothered, why should I?? angry
your findings is cool but my assumption is 95% lack access to good water supply.... gbammmm

Drinking dirty water from childhood boosts our immunity. That is why we don't have a huge coronavirus spread. Other countries should emulate us if they want to avoid future pandemics.

The issue with alot of Nigerians is they dont even demand better services from their state utilities. These state utilities dont even cover a whole local government. Then you'll see alot states opt for projects like airports, stadiums, churches etc before thinking of can we expand water supply.

They should have privatized all the State Water Corporations a long time ago. Water supply is privatized in the developed nations of the World. The Federal and State Governments do not have any business with Water distribution to the citizens of Nigeria. There are a lot of Government owned institutions that must be privatized in Nigeria. Governments all over the World are not generally good at running Companies. Water and Energy supply in the UK, USA etc are handled by private Companies and Corporations. Cheers.

And when you come down to Nigeria, I think Lagos is the worst. Not even the expensive VI and Lekki are left out. The government has a huge task in this regard.

The Federal Ministry of Water Resources and State Ministries of Water Resources should be research institutes, not Water Production and Distribution Companies. They should exist for research purposes only. They should just be giving data to the government and private companies to work with when it comes to water issues.

Ministry of water resources both at federal and state levels should be scrap with immediate effect, since Nigerians can now provide water for themselves. Waste of resources

70% of Britain's Water Companies are owned by foreign companies. The UK government is not involved in producing and supplying water to the British people. There are about 25 water suppliers ( Private firms ) covering Scotland, Wales and England. The water supplier you will use depends on the area of the UK you live in. Many of the UK's water companies are owned by companies from other nations who have invested in Britain's Water Industry. Why can't we do the same in Nigeria?

Yes, people have wells and boreholes in their homes in Nigeria. That is true. However, many areas of Nigeria are still unwatered, so to speak. It is high time private companies from advanced countries are invited to invest in the Water Industry of Nigeria. We have done it with TV Cable, Mobile Telephony and Internet Providers. Why not completely privatize water supply to homes in Nigeria? It will be a great move by the Federal Government.
Re: Nigeria Leads Africa In Poor Water Supply To Citizens by 9ja083: 5:07pm On Mar 12, 2020
I cant remember the last time Nigerian government supplied water to residents or citizens.
Nigerian citizens get their water supply via borehole never from government.
Ghana have had water. And their water u need to treat it by yourself before use. Unless it depends on the company that supplied water.
