Are the people tested up to 5000? I heard the Chairman of the presidential committee yesterday being intervied by Seun on Channels Television, that about 3000 people has been tested so far. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it. I was so confused and scared. Like these guys are not telling us the truth, like last week or so, the Minister of health told us that about 5000 people have been tested. These guys are economical with the truth. They are not prepared for this thing at all, in fact, we don't have a government.

All those reasons are silly excuses by the government.
They are not testing because they don't want to.
By now anyone with faintly close symptoms of the disease should be tested.
But people can't get tested because you have to satisfy some criteria or be near death to be considered.

To make matters worse, we don't know the government's endgame.
Neither the unresponsive NCDC nor the ministry of health has published any
public policy towards ending the infection.

They appear to have adopted the "let us wait it out" strategy that has failed countless countries.
They forgot that they can't lockdown forever.

But they boasted they were ready. And to prove that point bohari sent his cousin to go and import the virus.

Doomed country.

Is anyone surprised?

Deploying resources to care for the vast majority of the people has never been the government’s forte in Nigeria. After all they go abroad for their healthcare.

That’s why the health and education sectors are in deplorable conditions! First the budgets are very low, then most of the resources budgeted are diverted to personal use by public officials. In turn they and their children school and get healthcare abroad. That’s how they solve the problems they create.

Thank God they can’t go anywhere this time. They must also enjoy what they have put in place. Wicked leaders!

This is a problem facing the entire world at the same time, we need to encourage our leaders by been positive minded. Can anybody explain why we have very low casualty. A lot of effort has gone into what you are seeing now. The whole world is surprised at the rate at which Nigerian Govt has been able to control the situation. United Nation came out openly to appreciate the effort of our govt why cant we Nigerians do the same
The gullible United Nations that commended Nigerian government for the low casualty of Covid-19 in Nigeria don't know anything.

It is not by the effort of the failed Buhari-led Nigerian government that Nigeria have low casualty rate of Covid-19, nobody can take the credit for our low casualty rate so far, only God knows why.

It could be our weather.

It could be our strong gene & immune system.

It could be the nature of our foods.

It could be some unknown factors that we are yet to find out.

It could be the mercy of divine God poor &
downtrodden Nigerians always call upon & rely on that's saving us all.

But attributing the low casualty to Nigerian government led by Buhari is total foolishness!!

Nigeria's relatively low level of testing has nothing to do with training(which can be done pretty quickly) or technology since China is now back to full production of kits.

The issue is all about money but since we aren't that poor compared to Egypt and Ghana using GDP per Capita value then the government is simply not prioritizing the fight against Covid-19.

The government claims that it costs about #10,000 per test but many of the test kits being used were donated not bought.

If we test 100,000 people that comes to about 1 billion Naira and 1 million tests will cost 10 billion Naira.

Given that Nigeria has lost billions in revenue due to the scaling down of port operations and other economic activities, it makes no sense to delay the epidemic further by refusing to test more people.

Right now, it appears both the government and the health officials are in agreement on the low testing rate policy which shouldn't be since the experts should know better.

The more we delay testing and hope for the best, the more our economy tanks and we risk a full out epidemic.

Nigerian illiterates, research before posting trash. Who told you, your GDP per capita is bigger than Egypt

The above is false.
You need to expose the virus to at least 56 degrees for 90 minutes plus to inactivate it.
You can't survive such exposure yourself.

Africa's younger population is probably the reason there are lower deaths.

The virus must be exposed to 21-24 degress on wooden or plastic surfaces for atleast 24hours, 27 and above on hands and face etc These numbers were given by Dr. Kate Templeton who has been conducting researche about all 4 types of corona virus way before the outbreak.

The younger population reasoning too is true. They claimed Italy was hit hard because of the high population of retirees. Lastly, at the topic suggests, very few tests have been conducted for a continent this size

Is it not same government that was giving TRADER MONEY to every market women? scoring as many political points as they can

Now the ships are down let them roll out same social scheme funds and save the country from the spread of this pandemic

I hope things change soon because Osagie Ehanire has been a total nightmare. Worst part is being so clumsy with something that concerns the lives of millions of Nigerians.

It is obvious he does not fit the role. Positions like this should not be handled by people without history of delivering in the field. Especially in similar jobs. Buhari has been a nightmare and I pray it does not end up a catastrophe.

Osinbanjo needs to man up and push some buttons to correct the wrongs going on with the management of Covid-19 in the country. This should be treated as a war scenario. This is not business as usual.

President Buhari should have closed Nigeria 's border on time especially during the time the coronavirus virus was making wave in Wuhan, China.

The coronavirus virus itself is not a local disease that is indigenous to Nigeria.

It is a foreign disease largely introduced by Nigerian restless travellers from abroad especially all the big overseas countries.

CORONAVIRUS VIRUS IS A "BEEN TO" DISEASES introduced to Nigeria by some waka waka Nigerians and their foreign friends.

Since Nigeria do not have all the facilities or manpower to do comprehensive testing or massive testing for all Nigerians residents in the country including foreign nationals.

The federal, state and local government should use the database of the International travellers that enter Nigeria to track these vulnerable Nigerians plus foreign nationals.

Unfortunately, database management is poor in Nigeria and some Nigerian filled fake telephone numbers while checking into Nigeria.

They are afraid such records will be sold to armed robbers, kidnapper that will subsequently track them and rob them of their dollars.

Definitely a fake news. This kind of thing make me think thst our problem is not even the leaders. We are our own problem.

How can we have tested 5000 cases. It imply that only about 357 test are been done daily.

5000 test so far is a great claim... I link to your news source should have been provided. I don't like this government but some people are going the wrong way just to bring the government down...making them worse than the government itself.

Y'all funny people and truth be told, yall deserve everything that is happening to y'all.

Virtually all the African countries didn't have testing kits until Jack Ma donated to them.

While most African countries appreciated his efforts and got straight to the task of mass testing.....we instead started accusing the donor of sending fake substandard testing kits. Some pastors even went ahead and said that the kits have been laced with the virus etc etc. Right now as we speak the materials he donated are sitting in a warehouse gathering dust and obeseving their own self isolation.

Italy and Spain was once the epicentre of the virus with reported cases of death reaching over 1k daily. The Chinese came over to assist them and thankfully they have been able to reduce this and hopefully we will start to hear some good news from those areas soon.

Just as some fools believe this whole 5G conspiracy mumbo jumbo charade.

Secondly, the essence of the lock down is for govt to trace index cases and whom they have had contact with for testing with the aim of flattening the infection curve. Again instead of people to cooperate they have refused and every day we hear stories of index cases refusing to be tested or hiding travel history or even refusing to give details of people they have associated with.

At the end of the day the people in power will be fine. It's the people at the bottom of the pyramid that will suffer it if there is a pandemic breakout. Unfortunately these are the same people that are constantly brainwashed by pastors and eat conspiracy theories for breakfast.

God bless Nigeria and please stay safe.
